He changed genres a bit and his earlier stuff was more run of the mill rock. But I love this folk/roots music he is doing now. And social media allows him to have a platform to find an audience he may have struggled to find a generation ago when trying a new direction. Can you even imagine how many great musicians we all missed out on back in the day because the only way to get heard was to get a major label record deal?

I'm running out of superlatives to describe just how good Jesse is. No accolades do him justice especially with "Pilgrim." Notice how the tenor of his voice changes ever so slightly from song to song. I don't think his signature rasp has sounded any better than on this song. And the lyrics--what a marvel!
I am more astounded at the depth of Jesse's talent with each new composition. He's a true lyric artist with guitar riffs that touch my Spirit, and linger. So thankful for his genius and the pleasure of listening to him in my lifetime.

While I love all of the songs you bring us from the weeds out there in the woods, this one FOR SURE belongs on your next album. If it is an older tune I'm just hearing now forgive me, the only album of yours I own is "red trees and white trashes" and I am familiar with some of the Dead Indian stuff, but that's it as far as studio stuff. A lot of your songs are great, but this one is pure gold. If this one falls in with the others that you played on a whim, well I respect that, glad i got the chance to hear it on this platform. Proof of deep cultural disease is that in the past, an artist with a protest song would navigate a labyrinth of record label gatekeepers, censorship barriers, and potential blacklisting, whereas today, they can simply hit record in their bedroom and share their message globally, democratizing artistic expression and dissent.
