    I just got into the integrated program in NYC for AMDA and I'm scared shitless. I'm Mexican so I got HELLA family that loves and supports me and are willing to help but we're all poor AF too so the most help I get is books for both years family-wise and FAFSA is stressful, moving from a small town is stressful but idk you made me hopeful just now and a little more at ease. Thank you for the helpful video!

    Thank you so much. This video is really helpful. I've been wanting to enter this school since last year. Now I know, I still have lots to prepare on the financial side. Im from the Phililpines. And once I go there, I'll be supporting myself alone. Like most people, I come from a very simple family who cant afford these type of education. But you know what, ITS REALLY MY DREAM. And I want to do every single effort I can so I could have it.
    I have been working for 3 years now. Saving money for your studies and helping your family at the same time isn't easy. But Im still hoping to enter this school and get a good opportunity on the field.
    Hope we'll be able to meet if I went there this year or next year. You seem like a nice person. Looking forward for more AMDA videos. Im subscribing!

      Jordyn Elliott You know this comes to play in my mind sometimes now that I’ve gotten in again. You just have to think about your dreams and how much they mean. Now that’s not to say there aren’t other schools to audition for that are cheaper you know. Have a backup choice... 2 or 3 heck maybe 4 and just weigh your options. For me, either way I’ll be taking loans but I view school loans as just another bill I have to pay so I’m pretty much ok with that. I pay school loans now (but AMDA will put me over 20,000 in debt) but this is something I really want. Really think it over you know. And look maybe you get there and reach a decision. You can ALWAYS go somewhere else. Sorry I’m long winded.

      blackcircus I'm going to the LA one. my parents want me to get out of it bc they are paying and they think its too expensive. I wanted to pay it myself with a little bit of their help. One part is telling me that I shouldn't do it bc its too expensive but the other side of me is saying I shouldn't let money get in the way of my goals.if I pass this up I feel like I'm going to lose an opportunity but if I go I feel like the money might not have been worth it

    Is it possible to get accepted to a masters degree after AMDA bachelors degree ? what if I wanted to go let’s just say to Juilliard for theater 🎭 lol just curious and I live in Palmdale about 1 hour away from Los Angeles I would say maybe 10 minutes added due to traffic but i want to do both acting for film and stage why not try both lol would you say musical theater would be ideal?

    • @Lyrictruth

      I am not in the musical theatre program so I can’t fully say. However if you want to really sing then that would be your choice but it doesn’t sound like it. Also you can pursue a Master’s after you get a Bachelor’s degree from AMDA.

    I'm in such a state of confusion with this.. Colloge was never my plan tbh cause I feel like it's a scam originally i graduated from a pefroming arts school in my hometown but never cared for Colloge cause as a dancer/singer it seems like it's not a necessity to go to college for us Artistic people as it is for other people.. but than I heard of AMDA which was a perfect school for me! I refuse to go to a college where I have to focus on academics seeing as I'm going for the peforming arts I want everything to be focused on that and that alone AMDA is one of the very few schools that focus a majority on your major than frivolous things such as math, science, English etc.. HOWEVER the amount of debt this school put you in is insane & I'm not with the debt thing I've seen first hand how long it takes to pay off and how bad it can get not to mention it's alot of debt to get a degree that's some would say isn't necessary to be successful in such field so idk I never felt like going to college for my field was a necessity but Im scared that it might actually be a necessity and if I don't go I won't be successful in my field or at all for that matter. All in all IF I was to go to college I'd only go to this one but it all just seems so unrealistic cause I'm beyond broke and a multiple minority individual and a school like this seems impossible to go to unless your of a richer or vastly more wealthy variety.. all in all I'm just extremly conflicted in regards to this.. any opinions you have on this would be greatly appreciated though!

    • @Lyrictruth
      @Lyrictruth  6 років тому +2

      Aaron Williams This is definitely something to think about. College tuition is ridiculously insane and there are tons of people in debt. I have a little school debt too right now and going to this school will do so much more damage but right now my dreams mean it all for me. The sacrifice, the debt... I am no stranger to paying bills. So I’m doing it anyway, because to me it’s worth it. Sure I could chance it and not go to school but that’s not the route I want to go. I want and need to know my craft; nurture it and learn it all to become greater... It’s just worth it. Now I have looked at another conservatory program that’s a lot cheaper too so that’s another option for me... But make the best decision for you, and if one day you decide it’s not worth the debt you’ll end up having, leave/drop out and find another way. Research all your options before committing and maybe it’ll be a little easier to decide. I have many people in my life that have successfully paid their school debt off so there is hope. Loans suck ass but I’m not rich so applying for scholarships and grants are imperative. There are other options to get money for school that you don’t have to pay. They’re competitive but they’re out there. Think of your options, audition anyway and then make the decision, because you may fully decide on the next step when you’re accepted. You get a whole year to enroll so you’ll have time for other options you know. Hope this helped a little.... Plus I plan on being a working actor so I’ll be able to pay these loans off quickly! ;)

      blackcircus oh I see.. I'm more on the dance and Musical Theater side as you can see from my channel lol but yeah I appreciate this I've been nervous regarding it cause I graduated in 2016 and due to some personal issues didn't go to college but now I'm worried that if I don't go I won't be successful at all but I'm nervous that if I do go and end up not likeing it I'll still have to pay my debt back if I come back home and that's something I'd hate to do especially if I find out Colloge just wasn't for me

    • @Lyrictruth
      @Lyrictruth  6 років тому

      Aaron Williams Yeah you have some thinking to do. I feel you though because if I’m not feeling it then... I’ll leave too then it’ll be doing it on my own. However I know I’ll like it because it involves what I love doing and learning how to hone the talent. So really think about it, pros cons, what ifs, etc. I graduated in 2012 and I didn’t go for acting and regret it. But I just know I’ll love school this time around.

      @@Lyrictruth Great minds, hon'! Also, I'm shocked they even allow videotaped auditions here in the U.S.! That was ONLY reserved for international students! Had I been able to submit a tape I'd have been much more at lease with my Voice Teacher! But, when I did audition, despite going over the tempo several times with the pianist (and immediately before the audition), he rushed the tempo and played it WAY too fast, which through me off badly! So, had to start over--a huge no-no! I was humiliated. I was singing, "Nothing's Gonna' Harm You," which is not played fast.
