    When you have scorching from the heat press, doing sublimation, you can lightly spray the scorched area with hydrogen peroxide and it should take the brown marks away.

    The PolyCoats are really for specific projects and takes a lot more time. It is worth sticking to professional sublimation blanks. Did want to mention - tape upper parts of mugs where mouths will be if someone will be drinking from the mug. Also, use a very fine sand paper over the mug after the coating has dried and this will make it smooth. I’ve also seen pros lightly sand mugs before putting on the poly coating as they say it helps. For shirts, if you wet the edges (with water before pressing) where you sprayed the poly , but are not sublimating it helps to not get the darkened area. You can also lightly spray brown areas with peroxide/water right after, leave for a bit, and then rinse.

    Not sure about these, but the Subli-T spray is amazing and works wonders. Also, the little bit of yellowing can be fixed by a quick spray of peroxide. You can sublimate in cotton and it will look great until you wash it. Because the ink has nothing to bond with, it will wash out. Otherwise, the spray I use works great, those cheap brands are terrible.

      Reading online for multiple coating brands. The majority of them recommend that you cover the cotton item with another piece of cotton or cover your press with a piece of cotton to help balance the heat so it doesn’t over heat the area and cause the yellow/brown discoloration on shirts. They demonstrate it in some of the video’s and it seems to work really well. Maybe that would help??

    Angie hi, regarding the fabric poly spray, was wondering if you have tried this technique using your heat press instead of the Cricut press. I've seen a UA-cam video showing no yellowing on a 100% cotton sweat shirt using a regular heat press. I've tried using my Cricut heat press several times with a poly spray and no matter what temp I use, there's yellowing (like it burns the t-shirt). So I'm wondering if maybe the result would be more favorable using a regular heat press.

    I'm wondering if washing the shirt afterwards would remove the yellowing? Also what does it look like after 5 washes? I'm disappointed in the Memory Makers spray, they are a well known and reliable source for a lot of crafting supplies and I would have expected much better results.
    I've enjoyed your videos so much (and even though I'm a Silhouette owner by preference, at the time I first started you could not use Cricut without the internet, so now I have a Cameo 4 and a Portrait ) I find so much information that crosses manufacturers and so many creative ideas that I can't resist every video you make, they're terrific!
    Just a quick rating on your Sublimation Journal, I haven't found places to put many of the pieces of information is like to keep track of, mainly a place to print a page with a photo of the project design, the type and brand of substrate used, where I bought it, fabric or substrate composition, pressing heat and times and any other notes on how it came out, and if my client and I are pleased with the results.
    I love having the ability to keep those notes other places but I'd like to get a better idea of how I created those projects. I turn 75 in 2 days and crafting, mainly sublimation, has become my favorite thing in life.
    I've decided out try a and follow your footsteps so I'm creating a crafting project page of my own.
    I'm a share by nature so if you don't mind if like to send it to you for review and for you to use if you find it helpful. I'm looking forward to your 3 day Camp and you and all your genius friends giving so much encouragement to the rest of us!

    I would recommend that you use a sponge to very gently spread spay on your shirt and in the process of doing that it help to remove excess from your shirt. When brushing cups put your hand down in mug with your gloves on it makes it easier to move your cup around and not get your fingers away. Questions for you , did you use a paper protection for your heat wrap for cups to keep in from bleeding ink onto the wrap and did you try washing shirts to see what happens to them (like the yellowing disappears?)?Thanks for your video it was helpful and informative. I have tried the 2 tbsp of minwax water based polycrylic to 8oz of water in spray bottle. It didn’t yellow and I was able to sublimate to the cotton shirt. I also have washed the shirt (so far 3 times) and the sublimation is still there but I feel as if it has dulled a little.Again thanks for the video I really enjoyed it.

      If I use a reusable wrap, I usually add some paper. I didn't try washing them as I don't think someone that was making shirts to sell would want to do that. I haven't tried any other solutions as I was pretty discouraged by these!

      I’m glad you mentioned the polycrylic. I have a metal (2”X4”) piece I got from dollar tree. I have used mod podge to apply glow in the dark powder. Going to use the Varathane ultimate polyurethane to coat it and try to sublimate. Maybe it will work if yours did.

    Hi, i am just wondering can it be cured in a mug press instead of the oven? Or maybe used in the heat press after being cured in the over?

      I like butcher paper better. Parchment paper holds moisture in when you want something that allows it to go through.

    I saw the WRMK kit on HSN and when I asked about the transfer coating, I was told that it was only for use on cotton fabric, and not on hard surfaces like mugs. Do the written instructions say something different?
    I wasn’t convinced that the coating would be any good, but I ordered the kit anyway because I wanted to try the transfer pens and the price was right!
    Thank you for an excellent video!

      @AngieHolden 3 роки тому

    • @craftpaintcreate2328
      @craftpaintcreate2328 3 роки тому +1

      @@AngieHolden Wow! That's not what they told me! I was told that the mug in the kit is already a sublimation blank, so there was no need to put any coating on it, and that the coating in the little bottle is only for cotton fabric items.
      I ordered 3 of the kits because they were on such a great sale, so I'll try pressing one of the mugs without adding any of the coating, and I'll let you know what happens.
      I hate it when there are conflicting instructions!!!
      I mainly ordered the kits for the transfer pens and because I wanted to try the coating stuff on a cotton tote to see if it would work. I was also curious about the silicone wraps. I already have a regular mug press, but if the wraps are easy to use, they would be more convenient than having to drag out the press every time I want to make a few mugs!

      Your HP printer won't be compatible with sublimation ink. You will need either an actual sublimation printer or convert an Epson inkjet printer (don't use the inkjet inks that come with the printer). HP/Canon don't work with sublimation inks unfortunately.
