This was soothing to my ears
A marching Band version would sound cool w/ Roger Emerson's Choral arrangement. We need a Marching Band adaptation of the Choral arrangement.
Well played 🐬

wow this is a legit new jazz standard. thats frickin cool
Evan Lurie, the composer for all four seasons of Backyardigans, was an active jazz musician for decades before working at Nickelodeon. It's really too bad that Nickelodeon hasn't made anything half as creative or educational as that show in the 15 years since, they have a powerful position from which to instill creativity, culture, and sensitivity into children but instead they peddle cheap gags and contrived, cliched Hallmark-movie-esque "life lessons".
amazing you deserve more subs
Thanks! Feel free to share 🙂

The song (the chorus especially) still somewhat sounds kinda sad even with a saxophone replacing the vocals TT. This was written in major key, was it not? Since checking out the song just yesterday on the hooktheory website, it’s given me a melancholic vibe like you’ve begun to live without something/someone important to you, basically something like grief. And mind you, The Backyardigans show wasn’t part my childhood, yet this song feels like sad reminiscing. Is there like a music theory explanation to this? Is it because the vocal melody in the chorus uses the D minor note in the “-ways” syllable (and pretty much all over the chorus), almost as if Dm was the tonic here? Anyways, this was a cool cover. It was nice to hear the melody with a sax.
Adam Neely made a great video about the theory behind this tune, search for it here he does a great job breaking it all down. Thanks for listening to our cover :)
@@SaxBeardHi again! I just watched it again just now, and it was interesting. Didn’t get too much of a direct answer on why the chorus feels lowkey melancholic, but my personal guess is maybe because it has Maj7 chords, which I personally find to be dreamy, and how the “castaways” line is melodically descending. Maybe it’s also because little kids were singing the original song, which gave the feel of innocence. It didn’t feel as sad sounding when the singer of Adam’s video sang the song. Adam Neely also pointed out how the “stuck where we are” melody part kinda goes up a minor 7th then gies down a minor 3rd. I’m not too sure yet what that means exactly, but maybe the minor intervals contribute to the melancholic feeling? Maybe? Thanks
@@imgonnabeastar8576 I’m seeing a LOT of minor chords in the whole tune…
@@SaxBeard I mean that is true yeah
Great passion and talent throughout! Would you be interested to perform live in our platform?
i'm from BR and i love your song. It's be like a Vinicius de Moraes. Let's be friends?
