Unbelievable Opal Find!

- During the hotter months of summer it becomes nearly impossible for us to mine out on the opal fields.
Around November we pack up and head over to the Central Coast and spend our holidays with family and friends.
We also do a lot of our opal cutting during this time off as well.
3 months into our 5 months of down time there was a slight cool change predicted out at White Cliffs for the week.
Unable to resist I packed up the van and drove the 14hrs back to the opal field for a quick dig.
I was very lucky, first day back I hit onto about a kilo of potch (low grade opal) I followed that material until I was lucky enough to find a bit of colour.
All in all a very good weekend away, I left just as the mercury was climbing back up to about 40°c.
I hope you guys enjoy the video we are keen to really start putting more and more videos out once we start back up in a few months time.

Always amazes me when I watch you opal miners that you carefully gently prise the opal from the wall so not to fracture it, then when your grading it you hurl it in a bucket 6 ft away from you.😂😂😂

At age 69 I am due for a sea change and am buying myself a campervan and hitting the road around Aus.
The intention is to head over to Western Australia and do some gold detecting but interupting my trip at White Cliffs and having a lookie see with some UV gear.
I have been watching your show for some time now and am inspired by three young fella's that have shown the guts and fortitude to chase their collective dream of striking it rich in the opal fields.
I would love to catch up for a few beers, maybe a few more than a few actually before picking yours brains about where I should try my luck whilst in town for a few weeks.
