I bought a ring off of these young men maybe two years ago now and it still remains my favorite piece of jewelry next to my wedding ring and it is always on my finger. Gotten so many compliments for it, where I live in the States you just don't see opal, especially not like this. Most don't even realize that it IS opal due to it not being the white milky opal you usually see around here. So, if you get a chance, buy from these guys, they do good work and produce some beautiful pieces.

Great work. Years ago, while living in Bali, I bought a large Boulder Opal from an Australian miner who spent half the year underground mining for opal. I had no idea what that really meant, until now. Thanks for the video and congrats on such beautiful opals.

Okay, geologist here, but not an opal miner at all, so forgive the question. Opal forms as low temperature silica rich water sits in pockets in the sandstone/mudstone. Given this shouldn't you be able to follow a seam that has produced opal (even if that seam doesn't have any opal) further and further along? Like how one would follow a quartz vein?
If I’ve learnt anything from opal mining it’s that opal forms all over the place 😂 where and when it likes. I’ve seen it from a few foot below the surface to around 50ft. Sometimes it forms nice seams to follow sometimes you get small pockets sometimes very stop and start. In this case noah actually dug through the majority of the seam without realising and then pulled what remained of it out of the wall before blacklighting the rubble pile and finding what we had missed. We would love to keep digging here in the future but the space we where backfilling into is now full. We may return to this spot at some point in the future :)
