I’m so jealous of you right now. Injera has iron it’s called super food used in Europe and America for baking healthy cakes and cookies and much more. I love, love ❤️ ethiopian food
Lol that’s so funny; I’m Eritrean and currently I say my fav food is West African (ranging from Senegal & Gambia on to Liberia, Nigeria, Ghana, etc.) WELL, it’s tied with Caribbean food for me lol. I just love pounded yam so much as it’s so much easier on my stomach than injera believe it or not lol, and I love the soups that it can be served with. The peanut, the palm butter stew, the bitter leaf, etc. I’m telling ppl, they can sleep on African cuisine all they want, but lowkey it’s some of the best food ever. (YES the whole continent and its diaspora).
For better experience lay out the injera on a flat plate and scoop the wot/ stew onto it and use just one hand to wrap the stew with injera and eat. Ethiopian sambusas can have a wide variety of fillings, my personal favorite is the beef one followed by lentils. All the best!
You must be Eritrean or Ethiopian. I love the food but only those two would say it’s their favorite. I’m from DC and have had it hundreds of times and love it but it’s not in my top 10. I don’t even think it’s the best cuisine in Africa.
@@mobid.2084 I've seen many videos of Ethiopian food reviews with plenty of comments saying Ethiopian food is their favourite. And they're not Ethiopians saying it.
@@Free2B3 right. Never heard of that either. Fish sandwiches are bomb from England and a seaport city in the u.s or a fish taco stand from Tijuana. Not Ethiopia lol

It's sour dough pancake that's what makes it a great combo with the sauce plain injera only tastes great when fresh and hot even then depending who prepared and how they preped the injera makes a difference in the level of sourness.
Glad u like it 👍I don’t think those are plane potatoes in the samboosa. I believe they are more similar to checkpies, eather beans or simpel sweet potatoes. “gushen out”
As an Indian I know I'm gonna like Ethiopian food.... Ethiopia is used to be the main gateway for spice transport from India to Romans.. So I know they are never gonna disappoint with flavour
From India to Roman? Tell me where life has begun? East African food and the whole continent of Africa is so spice and extra WELL seasoned. I have tried Somali food once and it's the best rice and goat meat I've ever had. Their Samosa is top tier. Their tea has so many different herbs and spices, and you will get addicted. Somalis have the best food in my experience. West African food it's good but it's too spice for me. I can't handle how much jalapeno and green chilies they add into their food.
@@Cici_mimi Tell them! I am Eritrean...and it erkeses me when Indian folks think they invented all the stuff they are known for... Spices and Incense originated in East Africa and Southern Arabia and spread outwards towards India, West Africa, and Europe.
It's the best to eat with your hands. In middle eastern countries,Africa etc scooping the rice then meat and folding bread to scoop it up makes it a lot more delicious 😊 and you get a lot more than using a spoon,fork..
Eating random countries foods always not good idea though some of them don’t wash hand vegetables not even wear gloves when preparing food so before grabbing good we gotta know what way they made is very important.
Yeah! I have tried that before. Thought the bread looks uninviting cause it really tastes soured and feels spongy too, but when I tasted it with the sauce, DELICIOUS! ❤
Injera dough is fermented, hence the texture where the gases escaped the dough, and the sour taste. It's super tasty and about as healthy as bread gets.
@@mikeotto1999Stop consuming processed sugar and drink more water. Also practice semen retention, get a proper face soap that doesn't strip the skin of too much moisture and good oils, also get plenty sleep and importantly as well eat healthy. Just like that you can get glass skin.
I see people always trying the injera by itself first and I’m waiting for the unexpected taste they find, and I wait till they actually eat it with the wot which is when it clicks how perfectly it works together. Even most people who grew up eating it don’t like it by itself (like my grandma lol). I personally love injera by itself since I love sour food like cheese, yogurt, sour cream you name it and would eat an entire injera without even knowing it.
It looks similar to Indian food, samosa idk seems like italy and new york with pizza type situation, but that crepe/pancake thing seems similar to indian dosa. Both are sour from the fermented dough, though I think it would be better if it's crispy which is how it is in indian restaurants usually. If you get a ghee roast dosa, the butter lessens the sourness fairly well.
Before forming any opinions, it's important to have a deeper understanding of Ethiopian injera. Injera is made from a special grain called teff, which is found exclusively in Ethiopia. it's way of making is no way similar to the indian food.
@@user-dt8zv4qv9c I looked at a couple videos, the only differences seems to be in the grains and spreading the batter on the pan. Otherwise, the fermenting process is similar, and the looks are very similar.

You’re never to eat the injera by itself, it’s always made to go with the stews. Also, the sourness depends on how it’s made. I’m also from Ethiopia and I know the injera from my family or auntie was not sour or its only mildly sour.
