Interesting stuff - triggered a few memories. It's a sad to watch in some ways though - you can see everything that was interesting about Warrington being bulldozed away, stage by stage.
That was certainly a trip down memory lane. I recall participating in the 1986 Walking day with my Scout group. Alas I didn't see myself or my friends in the video! I moved away from Warrington in the late 80's and relocated to the North East where I remain to this day (beautiful part of the world if you haven't visited). This video triggered some happy memories though that seem like a lifetime ago yet strangely, almost like it was yesterday. Thanks for the upload 👍
Traffic has never changed I see. They have now, in 2021, built another bridge. So Warrington has a special connection to bridges? So it took from the 1950s til 1986 to get a second bridge over the Mersey, and from 1986 til 2021 to get the third. Warrington town planners are only happy when they're building roundabouts and flats.
"Traffic at Bridgefoot is chaotic"....good to see nothing's changed 40 years later

34:37 and 40:31... Two faces I know very very well. My grandad and my mum, brought back a few really good memories, I was 4-5 at the time.
these are excellent slices of history, the only thing that throws me is the constant change of tense, what is with that?
And now even Mr Smiths is a 'peep in the past' 🔥🚒
dlbapc i’m learning history of that and I’m sad about it
I'm not, it was a much better place before Mr Smiths took over the building. It used to be a cinema called the ABC. @@johnmahoney2904
