    Put the phone near/on the wireless charging mat "before you push the start button" (extremely important)...and it works every time for me

    Do you have a backup passcode setup on the sync screen?. I have had this happen a few times, however I was able to unlock the driver door using the keypad on the door and then use the back up passcode on the sync screen to start the car.

      Now I do! Ironically, there was a "connectivity" issue the first time I tried to setup the backup passcode!

    I have the same problem and have had it since I purchased the car in February of 2021. 17 thousand miles later, phone as a key still doesn't work. Ford is aware of the problem and told me to use the key fob until it's fixed.

    This just happened to me today! Exactly! When i called the ford dealership her reply was "you should always carry your FOB." I just didnt have the restraint to reply so I hung up and called someone to bring me mykey. Stop in the shop afterwqrd and the service guy was dumfounded. Get it Fixed Ford!!

    thanks so much for responding to my comment with help :) My phone and the car were up to date with everything. I have no idea what happened...it just stopped working. 1. I deleted the car from my Fordpass app. 2. I had to take the Fordpass off of my phone and re-install it. 3. Do not add the phone to the radio with car play...that has to be the last thing done. 4. put the fordpass app back on the phone...Activate the car on the app. 5. Go through the whole process again as if its a new car. ........ Doing all that made it start working again. One thing that I did do was I purchased an after market USB cord that had a splitter on with so it gave me 5 usb connections. When I would turn on the car it would give me an error message saying USB device not accepted. But, it would work so I kept it on there. Perhaps that is what freaked out the app and the car?????? I went to the dealership today to see if there were any updates that I didtn know about and there is not. Boy oh Boy that is a bad thing when it breaks.

    • @upnorthmike6085
      @upnorthmike6085  2 роки тому

      I would try and stay away from splitters. Does the car play or Android auto work? Generally, those like to connect via wireless and not a USB. Ironically, my Android auto quit and would not reconnect until the car was powered off, android auto disconnected, then the car back on, AA back on. What a pain!

      @@upnorthmike6085 mine is appleplay. I had to remove ford pass from my phone and do a master reset on the car....then start fresh to get everything working again, that was 4 days ago and so far everything is working. But, I took the splitter out. I use Bluetooth for my apple play

    Exact same thing happened to me. I was running errands all day with no fob then waiting in a drive thru lane when I get an alert saying no key detected. Not a big problem since the car was already running. Ran another errand and turned off the car. I was stranded at that point. I was still able to remotely start the car using the app but it wouldn't let me drive off with it since it did not detect a key. Also, the backup password I had set to start the car in the event my phone dies was gone too. Had to call Lift to come get me, take me to my house to get the fob, then back to the car. With all that said, while the symptoms of this video are accurate, it is a little misleading. When you have PAAK setup, the app shows an additional row of buttons underneath the unlock/start/lock buttons that are not present in this video. Also, at the 5:27 mark, it clearly says 'setup phone as a key' on the phone screen indicating this phone is not setup.

    Was testing this feature on my daily commute, and fortunately kept a spare key fob both at home and at the office. Phone as a key needs to be more reliable. It's worthless if it only works sometimes.

  • @jacktyler7599

    Mike, I've noticed PAAK appears as a chronic complaint on the Mach-E Forum. Models built later in the year seem more immune to it, others claim PAAK began working reliably after they received a system update. I have Sync4 in my 2021 F150 and have found the FordPass app to be unreliable in multiple ways...some of the time. So you and I appear to be members of a large club! Question for you: Does your Mach-E sample outside temperature and adjust range projections based in part on temp, even before you start driving? Good stuff! Thanks, again.

    • @upnorthmike6085
      @upnorthmike6085  2 роки тому +2

      Great info Jack - I'm actually doing an update to this video now (this video here shot yesterday) stay tuned for an update. The mach-e does adjust range based on temp and also the battery state. I'm usually driving so I don't watch it in real time, but I do see range changes, most notably if the battery is very cold, or already warm.

  • @Kimandy6862

    It looks like your battery is 72% full, but you only have 113 miles of range. That means you only have about 160 miles of range at 100% charge. Is that correct? 160 mikes seems really low for a Mach e.

    • @upnorthmike6085
      @upnorthmike6085  Рік тому +1

      At that exact moment in time, with that exterior temperature and that battery temperature; yes. There are SO many variables at play with estimated range and it is very fluid. Using the departure schedule is key to maximizing range in very cold weather.

    You said you were doing an update 2 months ago. Yet all I see here is the misleading lack of emergency start code.
    I am at the 2 month point of ownership and find PaaK to be 95% effective. My biggest frustration is getting the MME responding to PaaK when in deep sleep! Ford does need to do more improvements in the system, for sure.

    • @upnorthmike6085

      What does misleading lack of emergency start code mean? Are you talking about the door code? Backup key code? Bottom line, if the PAAK is supposed to work, it should work.
      Should I have setup the door code...yes and I have after this.

      Hello up north Mike I finally got the Bluetooth connectivity on in my Ford Mach E 2022. I took it to the dealer ship and my sales rep could not get it to work either so on the Ford pass app he called the helpline and what had to be done was in the car delete the FordPass app, reinstall it re-connect, and then follow the steps which took about 30 minutes to 45 minutes to get this fixed the new update for my 2022 allows me to make a password. Yes, my cell phone battery is dead. I do not have a fob with me that I can unlock the door using the password I have set up get into the car. Attempt to start it without a fob or my cell phone in it ask for that code or number that I created and it will start to either charge my cell phone up or to get me home to where my fob is at as of now the system seems to be working well I do like the Mach E so far. Thank you.

    Do not leave your house without your key. For this exact reason. We have this for our F350 platinum work trucks and it is not reliable enough to trust completely. If you put 100% trust into it, it will leave you stranded at some point. Sometimes the system will be working correctly and it will still not seem to identify the phone. It's always hit and miss. The only company that seems to have this almost perfect is Tesla.

    I'm curious as to why you only have 113 miles left with a 72% charge level. That would imply a 156 mile range at 100%. Why wouldn't it be 211 miles? I hope your PAAK is working better.
