The trivia quiz is cool to have at the same time for all players because it's nice to see other players.
The other events though I wish they just gave us 3 attempts per day and let us use them whenever

No time to participate in the event🤡
Every time I log into the game. It's always 2-4 hours I have to wait for the event to start. And I just cannot be bothered to wait. That's the issue. It's so annoying having these events be time gated to such a extreme degree. Every hour at the top of the hour. Or every 30 minutes. Make it so I know without having to do math.
This event is awful. We're not playing an idle game to do mobile MMO-lite events. I just want to log in in the morning, log in in the night, and if I have free time during the day I'll be playing the story and pushing content.
Because people keep complaining to have more things to do.

Yeah, I'm a paramedic and play these games during my tiny bits of downtime between calls during my 12+ hour shift. Trying to hit a 15 minute window every X hours for this event has so far been impossible for me. I feel like this type of time-gating type of stuff would get criticized in most games. For a supposedly "AFK"/idle type game its mind boggling stupid.
One hundred percent w you, i work full time as well as study, i haven’t managed to participate a single time. And not about to restructure my life for 10 recruitment letters lol
the minigame lasts for like 10 min but has a cool down of 2 hours

Timegating is an absurd. The activities themself are also only the minigames which should not be a core of any event
Yeah, the one benefit to the 15 minute cap is that after 15 minutes of sorting or century road I want to tear my eyes out anyways. They are just tedious, unfun game design, that are tolerable only because of their infrequency in the storyline.
the dumbest thing of the event is that they give you like 15 minutes to enter and play the event, but if you enter 5 minutes later you only get the remaining 10 minutes for participating, so if you really want to get the highest scores you have to be in the event in the literal second it starts, which is absolutely ridiculous.
That's an understatement. Its absolute garbage ! Pure forced engagement. Makes me feel like quitting more than I did prior to the event! Whoever came up with 15 mins of sorting should be hunted down. -_-

@@craigness4856 because they advertised it as afk, now they're adding more stuffs that made it less of an afk game than before. Heck genshin is more of an afk game than it at this point.
just sort once and quit, there is no point sorting more in one event so it is just few sec to do it
@@winek2036 yep that's what I am doing now. Realized ranking has absolutely no meaning or rewards attached, so no point pushing. The time gating is still garbage though. Goes against the very nature of the game where you should be able to log in for 15 minutes a day.
@@craigness4856 its an afk game, where you're basically meant to log in for 15 mins a day. But now pushing an event with somewhat lucrative rewards, that 'encourages' you to log in practically every hour for mind numbingly boring mini games. In order to clear out the shop, you need about 20k vouchers (10k if we ignore the affinity stuff) & thus requiring quite heavy , almost forced engagement. In a 4 month season, we've already cleared all story content in the first month. I literally play for 30 mins, claim resources, auto push afk stages a bit, trials, battle drills, wrap up arena and log off. Its borderline mindless and boring, but as long as there's progress, its still fine. This event is just terrible game design, and whoever came up with it doesn't understand the very idea of an AFK game. So yeah, def makes me feel like dropping the game. But hey, if you enjoy it, good for you.

For a game called "AFK" this is by far the gacha that takes the most time and commitment from me, it's not even funny at this point lol
Thank you for this video, I thought I was the only one with this sentiment. I HATE anything time-gated, the time windows are awful and so far apart and you only have 15min to take part in the event, I don't have time for that. I think they should've done it a daily thing in the style of the Grimmaw clan quests instead.
Also, I'm in the CC program but there's no hint or clue of what's coming either.
Honestly, the issue would’ve been resolved if they were simply available more often throughout the day. The downtimes are way too long. It’s so pointless for the Sorting and Century minigames. They should let you play it once a day whenever like the Rep quest.

The time gating is probably the worse Ive ever seen. So ridiculous. Asking me to wake up at 2 in the morning to play a 15min quiz game is criminal. I wonder if this is the way to lock 90% of people out of the rewards.
you don't have to wake up at 2 am though, each event happens 3 or 4 times throughout the day. Don't get me wrong, the system sucks, but let's not over react.
They go against the purpose of their game (written in the title : AFK)...
Most people chose AFK to do not have restrictive time event, at the opposite of most gacha games. Our goal is to schedule time for the game in our life (playing when we have time or when we want) not to schedule our life around the game will...
If we wanted that most of us would still be playing our previous gacha games.
The more I play this game the more I have the feeling they don't know what they want to do, and it might be the reason why the communication is really off and there's no road map at all.
Like I told them in their questionnaire : they have to chose if they want to do a real AFK game or a classical gacha game. Doing both will piss off everyone because it's 2 opposite play-style, it's basic game design knowledge to do a game to target a specific audience and to stick to it. If it was their 1st game OK, it could have been explained by inexperience. But it's not, they have no excuse

The game doesn’t allow you to go straight from mauler map to the Fair as it’s located on the original map. That’s what happens that makes it look like it’s not available. Then the same happens with primal Lord but in reverse
Yes, not being able to automatically travel for events is ridiculous (as are so many things about this event...)
The worse thing is for server that strat the season late, (mine start in 4/5 days), the century quest expo is just not available cause you need song of strife to do it. So realy realy bad event !

Yeah, The upside is if you hit one event every day you sill get all (or nearly all) the summon rewards. So it's not too hard to get the rewards. But if you actually want to participate in the event, it feels like Lilith is just giving you a big middle finger. I'm only available for 1 set of windows a day. So I just have to hope I don't miss out on that one chance each day. It's also baffling to me that they make the trivia game this kind of social, shared experience, but disable chat while you're doing it.
Because there are leaderboards. And 1 game a day gets everything except hamsters
@@Sipalman leaderboards with no rewards. And even that is a bad excuse, what's the difference between people talking about an answer vs watching everyone run to the correct one?

@@krahnjp and that's the mistake. People DON'T run to the right answer every time. There are only 3 people myself included who got 20/20 in a round, because there are mistakes most people do
@@Sipalman and those same people will give wrong answers in chat. I still don't see a difference. And it's not like you have time to debate the correct answer.
In fact in chat you could lie about the correct answer without affecting your score. That's why chat would be superior to a leaderboard. A leaderboard, you only care about where you are. I doubt you know who's above you or below you. But I'm chat you'd start learning the names to listen to, and who is talking crap, and who is a troll. You actually would engage with those people and learn something about the other people on your server. Like if you got 20/20, good for you, but nobody but you knows that, or cares. But if you're the guy who always know the correct answer in chat, people are gonna figure that out. They'll remember you name, and look for you when the game is starting. Suddenly your score will matter to other people on your server.
And they could limit chat to just your district or server, or just people in the game that you are in. There is so much they could do with it.
And leaderboards without rewards have no meaning to most. As long as you're doing well you'll keep checking to see how high you are, as soon as you fall off, you don't care. In that chat and the leaderboards make each other better. More people doing well means more checking the leaderboards, which incentivizes chatting, both to get the correct answers, and possibly to troll others. They work to mutual benefit, not detraction.
i liked the trivia quiz. But timings are wild there should be one active at all times maybe a 5 or 10 min cool down
Thoughts:
Time-gating events is SEMI-okay. As long as it's accessible to all players.
The scheduling on this is ridiculous.
Super short timeframes when the events are active, and LARGE downtimes = People will be constantly missing the event and being unable to do anything about it.
You're now dictating to players that you HAVE to be online and playing on the hour in order to do multiple events in a day = the most scummiest behaviour. That's them trying to get people addicted to dopamine hits.

I'm fortunate enough to have the ability to play this game almost any time I want, which many people can't, and I still can't catch the damn thing. I'm not setting an alarm for this game.

Character drops have been wild your absolutely right about that....I'm super excited for that next character coming out who could literally be like one of 20 people already in the game or someone completely different. Also, the event is so bad I didnt even know it existed. I think I auto-brain clicked through the page to get the notification off the screen. the game has too many exclamation points after reset.

according to my guildmate, we are the test group. the real market is in china/korea/japan where it hasnt been released yet.
I've completed all the quests where you need to complete the tasks dozens of times, leaving me with just the participation quests, where it's enough to complete one task per event and not waste the full 15 minutes.

I rather want a 30min delay 24/7 for a mini game event than this. So i can simply play for an hr, 30min each.
Its not even a teamfight strategy that needs a lot of time & hrs to delay & prepare. Its just a minigame. Devs act as if most of the playbase will tryhard the minigame like a board exam.
I feel you on the event; the time gating is ridiculous, the trivia sort of makes sense but it needs to be run more often.
The trivia quiz makes sense, however it's by no means cool & fun.. at first I was worried because I skipped a lot of story dialog but they were super easy questions and the one time I attended so far all the answers where yes/true. Also the time gating isn't exactly the problem but the 15 min window is the major issue(once again for trivia it makes sense).
On another note. I complained about lack of communication(& road map) on the podcasty vid, which led me to pretty much stop progressing in story/afk stages because I felt I had 4 months to worry about it. However now that I'm at the new Primal Lord I'm being heavily punished for not having completed the content ASAP and can't even get the first chest unlock from the Primal Lord because the only character able to do damage is a F'ing support SMOKEY.
Just to add a few points to all the valid criticism: Since they use UTC as the timezone for all servers (at least that I know about), the timings for the mini games are also completely fucked up for my timezone. The best one, where you can actually do all 3 mini games in a 75 minute time frame with only 2 x 15 minutes downtime in between, starts at 3:00 in the night for me. xD Better fuck up my sleep schedule for this event! 🤡💀
And while I think it's fun to do the trivia quiz together with a lot of other players, there would be such an easy fix for this event: Just give all players 3-5 tries per day per mini game that you can use up whenever you feel like it (like Dream Realm etc.). And if they don't want that for whatever reason, just reschedule all mini games. Trivia Quiz starts every full hour, Sorting Stall every full hour +20 minutes and Century Quest every full hour +40 minutes. Every player get's 15 minutes to play each mini game within that time frame, but you don't have to be exactly on time not to miss out precious seconds to be competitive. ^^
This event is TERRIBLE. Time gating to a certain day of the week is fine. Time gating to a certain time during the day is absolute trash.
completely agree with everything. one extra thing though that i didnt like was - as a new player in a new player friendly game - for one of the quests to be season locked and i have to wait 4 days to unlock the season it is quite unfortunate
The rewards are good, but this event completely sucks. Most of the times are bad for me and for the others I need to put a freaking alarm to avoid forgetting them. In addition, they are really terrible mini games, the trivia is so sloooow and who wants to organize the backpacks for 15 min straight! Just make it last 5 minutes and give me like 5 chances a day so I play whenever I want.
Honestly this is a horrible event. I hate events that want to tell me how to use my time. You in game and miss it, you off and the event is active.

To get max rewards it appears you'll have to hit each game 2 times a day and once or twice 3 times a day - if you want to get all the titles and stuff. Unless completing ech sorting/century quest during the timer counts as a completion, and not just the whole participation. I don't know if you get points directly for playing the games or not, but just off the points you need 20100 to clear the shop, and the quests give 11400. If the quests don't give points and it's all from the point store, you will clear the shop minus the hamster dolls with 8700, leaving you 2700 for hamster dolls that's assuming no other points quests pop up to replace the current ones and the point quests listed are the only point quests we get.
The shop is not meant to buy out for everyone. The hamster are for the hardcore players. The casual players are meant to play 1 game a day and get everything except the hamsters. And you get currency for every participation you do

Two things:
1) More communication is always better, they need to realize this fast, especially about banners.
2) Your idea about the test server is assuming they want feedback. It feels to me like they are doing some live testing to find out what works to decide future direction. I don't think they would be receptive to feedback right now so a test server does nothing for them. Just my observation about how things are going so far.
The quiz is so fun, but if you don't talk to the person at the exact second it opens you have to wait till the next question. They need a way for you to say you have joined and then when the quiz starts you get the 1st question. I also 100% agree, that the way they have the times set up sucks. Have it at the top of the hour for everything, having an hour between events then something like 4 or 5 hours till they come up again is beyond annoying.
I felt the community in this video. So many issues that need addressing.
Didn't even get a chance to mention the horrid temporal essence drop rate that's hindering every low spender/F2Ps progression with characters to be competitive at anything at all.
That and the reward structure after stage 100 in legend trials.

One of the problems is that there is no waiting room. If you want to do all 20 trivia questions you have to talk to the NPC right as the timer hits 0 and pray there's no lag. Also, I can't see the other players (I could yesterday.) so some questions are just a guessing game now.
I agree with your critiques of the game, but as for the dev team listening, I think they do listen to the community, or at least they know what our grievances are because they did revert the rewards changes at the start of the season after the community complained. But yeah, a little message letting us know their aware and acting on it would be nice.
God is it counterintuitive to everything an afk game is..... Miserable
love the game so far, even after afk arena, but I agree with you 110% on this. I just am not chasing the events on this one. I wish they had a test server also and I would be happy to join it. 🤔
I personally can play during event times, so I'm not really affected...but this doesn't change that the 15min windows are garbage, so are the cooldowns.
Just make each one available for 1h and rotate all 3 games without downtime, so there is 1 active at all times...this is supposed to be an afk game...
Or, here's an idea, gate the number of times players can play per day, not when they can play. This is such an easy fix, they have already done this with rep quests. (Not arguing with you, just adding on).

Days after I want to say that this event is actually okay. I, too, don't like time gates, but you don't need to participate much to clear points and gacha currency rewards from shop. I am already done, and bought 2 affinity items.
I do wish they made something more interesting, because cards game is super stupid, and backpack minigame is not for everyone (since many people don't want to invest time into "getting good" in space management mini-game). But quiz is pretty fun.
In general, I like that they're trying different things. However, I totally agree that the timing of this is awful. You basically have to login every hour so stop doing everything else you're doing. And 15 minutes is too long imho. The sorting and card game are ok, but playing them for 15 minutes in a row is way too long and not much fun. Also, once you have finished the 'point quests' it seems like it doesn''t even matter if you're doing good in the games anymore, because you don't get points for them, as far as I can tell there's no difference between sorting 1 inventory or 30 once you got alle ther missions done. And unlinke other events, it feels like you have to play a lot of these things if you want all rewards, so lots of 'oh I have to login now and then again next hour' and so on. This makes it a total chore and not fun at all.
Plus, I also agree that their schedule of announcing things is terrible. The windows are way too short and the information they give often ist quite vague (e.g. not talking about that the events announced in the monthly update will not start all at once, that a magic charms vendor will come later or the confusion about how a season works when they first announced that).

If you have problems starting an event, you need to restart the game. Happen to me a few times now. I just restart the app before an event start now.
For me, this event is so bad, that even when I look the shop rewards, I don't really feel compelled to do them. Something like "I'll have to sort these items to receive a tiny bit of points to receive 2 pulls...Ehhh, don't wanna."
Personally I don't mind. You don't have to do everything, and if you are an completionist, then the timemanagement is a part of it.
I don't mind the event. I can usually manage to participate at least once a day and I believe I can get most of the rewards that way
The only thing keeping me logged in is the free heroes every X day, the S tiers and celestials. But tbh I might not even stick around because I hate arenas, it’s such a pay to win predatory thing. It’s not even fun, winning a match doesn’t give me any satisfaction… just a “phew”. This game isn’t for me so think I’ll just delete it tbh. I don’t see the point of collecting heroes and maxing them out after months when I don’t enjoy using them. And yeah that event sucks, the rewards are not worth the wait.
they REALLY want people to play those minigames lol. I am so oo sick and tired of sorting and card matching. I just straight up noped out of the astral fair. Theres too much stuff to do on top of it everyday.
Something else I don't think is mentioned but should be noted: if your server does not have season access and no access to Ashen wastes 2 you cannot do the century expo. Funnily enough my server gets server acess AFTER the event ends. XD I don't know why they could of have all events in Holistone even without the season.
Also true I much rather see a big map, and my idea, I rather see my hero's on my like squad team fight enemies rather than chippy and hammie.

Also, u are so right with the feeling for progression. After days pushing afk stages in Journey, it feels like im standing still nö matter how many stages i progress.
As one person who always fills out the surveys and is honest and puts time into it...
I gave them feedback about open world content and making it more like an mmo, and likely I'm not the only one. This aspect is what sets journey apart from many other games in the genre. I didn't mention time gating or opening events at particular times or having it be part of a week long "event", which is the wrong approach. If this system is up all the time and sometimes quests are up and sometimes not, and the rewards are minimal and not tied to some week long event, then it totally changes. My idea was "world quests" like in WoW, which ARE limited time quests, but cycle through and are reset every day. This is not the same thing.
I guess this ONLY applies to the trivia quiz, the rest of the event is just wack lol.
Something timegated in this manner is fundamentaly in oppostion to what this game is/should be (in my opinion)
This game is dropping the ball more & more every week.
They invested to make a good pretty start, grabbed the cash from new players, then cut the budgets.
I think it can be quite annoying to run back to the NPCs after finishing the Sorting Stall and Century Quest Expo because most of the time, I end up clicking on other ppl or other players icon which kinda sucks…. Especially when misclicking.
As for the timing, it’s technically ok but a real pain to be on time for that event itself. Rewards are decent but it could be better.
I have participated many times. The questions are repeated, the sorting is repeated. But I have to repeat this to get rewards. I feel like a robot. I get stressed when people come to me and in 1 minute the event starts. What person came up with this?

In Honkai Impact quiz event was every 15min, and for 12h a day, or more
I could do the event at least once a day but truly i am thinking about droping the game because of this event. Forcing to players to play once a day got a new level with this event. Forcing the players to be online at a specific time for 20 Minutes is to much. Thats to much going in to the lifes of paying customers.
I agree with everyone, the time gating is trash, completely dumb for an afk game where you connect whenever you have time. The only good thing from this event are the rewards, and the quiz mini-game. That one is pretty fun and could be implemented way better to make it a recurring event on it's own.
I have barely been able to engage with it because of the time. It also really confuses me with the windows because sometimes it looks like it is open and then it says it isn't. I'm pretty sure it is only around the first 2 minutes that it lets you join.

I was at the Trivia event on time, but it kept saying I am too early and would have to wait. That is not acceptable when you have to wait hours until the next run.
This event has made me not want to play. I hate being forced to wait on a timer to get points just for a fucking event.

I like the event. Third place in quiz and first place in sorting stall in my district. And almost 600 points already from the needed 900 to finish it.
The game is kinda dead, at least for my server. Many whales in the top guilds just stop pushing and playing. This event and the reputation event just sucks and wasted your time. The whale felt burn out, the mid spenders felt burnout, everyone. And the question is, why do you still play AFK Journey, if there are much better gacha games, like Wuthering waves recently or Zenless Zen Zero which will be released soon.
Whenever I loggin I seem to either miss or there is over an hour left. The rewards are not bad just the timing.
I hate all time gated events, even tho i[m personally able to enter and multiple a day i sympathize with the ppl that just can't get at those times. ppl that can only play like 15 min a day and it doesnt even line up with any of the times.
Silver lining is that this is not as bad as it could've been, cause just doing the one a day and getting that quest you get enough points for the invites and enough tickets to get all the pulls and souls on the store, so you just need to go into more serious mode if you want the affinity items (and the prefixes)
old school Runescapes polling system could be a good idea. Basically, the devs unleash a wall of ideas they want to add and the community needs to have a certain approval rating before anything gets added into the game.
The game just have boring events after boring events. The clan reputation is just a daily and who the fk thinks chasing the birds were a fun mode. Its just super annoying to do. I already dropped doing any PVP stuff, just go in to do 20 games a week and stopped doing it. None of the new characters were attractive enough for me to pull, so I just skipped them. Now this event, basically cant do it due to the schedule being so bad. The recent survey they asked how likely would I continue playing the game, I gave it a 2. Dropped massively from pre-season of 8, start of season of 5. Now I want to drop it to a 1. So if the new character is boring again, then yep gonna drop this game.
You should do a video on the whales bailing on the game right now, the afk progression meta right now it actually killing the top end of the game, you should talk to some top players about it.
i would like to point out that every single mode is also EXTREMELY BUGGED. i got 43 points on the sorting stall and there is a quest that says "do 20 sorting stall any difficulty" and it says im 13/20
this also game me a ton less points, same thing happened with the trivia quiz the challenge says im 15/20 but i got 18 right during the quiz...
yeah, this event is trash. the worst part about it is that they released during peak time when people are getting ready for their summer or going on trips and such. it’s like they don’t value our time. it’s literally supposed to be an afk game. you can’t even properly set timers for these events because they’re not consistently timed apart. so you have to plan your life around the game and let the game play you instead of the other way around. this event is such an f you. like cool- rewards, but why make it so tedious to get them? such a turn off. ugh.
This event made me uninstall lol .i had been teetering on it for a bit but this just made me roll my eyes, uninstall, and play baldurs gate

AFK Jouney is so boring , no new abyss lvl's poor rewards on the abyss, the seasson dont have longevity, i wait a lot of time for a event and get this, like i cant play this in the time window that they want us to play, I would rather have more difficult AFK stages to advance than have these events, but the AFK stages themselves, it's just a matter of staying there and hoping to have more stats than tactics, Not to mention about the minimum number of pulls they have given, being F2P it is very frustrating, because I need copies to advance in some content like another copy of Carolina, but in the last two weeks I got 1 S tier and it wasn't her, So I'm still stuck,this is my opinion
The game has gone downhill since Soren. I knew they were greedy and just wanted money when they separated Soren banner from alsa. This is the only game I've played where a NEW character cannot be summoned with the required currency for normal banners except ONLY through diamonds on a separate banner? How about you put the character in both normal and rate up banners but obviously keep the rates normal on normal banner so we can still summon for it with our letters. I've got 200+ letters saved only for them to be morons and not release the heroes for the normal banners. Not everyone has money in their accounts especially with the inflation WORLDWIDE. Honestly disgusting path they're taking the game. A month more of this and a lot of players will quit including me.
I signed in earlier, the event was about to end literally within 20 seconds ... this was my first exp of the event, what a pile of junk.
omg, its so bad to see this. Me and my friends loved it! Thats bad that many people dont like it =( I though its so fun! Only thing I would change is that I would make them last a little less, but come up a little more.
I think this is the result of all those surveys asking for more player interaction Ingame so far I've only managed to do 1 expo out of all those event time slot.

If you’re not online long enough to complete this event, don’t even try it. It literally requires time and commitment to finish timed events.
i just watched this vid and missed the trivia event LOL! now to wait another 45 minutes to play a 15 minute event and then another 45 minutes to play another 15 minute event very FUN!

It's called A freaking F freaking K Journey for goodness sake. I don't pay attention to when I log in and never will.
I literally stayed up an extra 2 hours just to get into an extra trivia quiz lol.. so yeah a little annoying..
i stayed up, only to be told that i was 'too early' whilst everyone else was running back and forth allready playing the quiz. had to restart the game before i could join in.

I hate that I have to just ignore it on my alt because it's so time consuming and the events are at the same time on every server
if your not bothered about ranking, then you can switch server during the event.
I logge in did my dailies and forgot that this event exists :D

Well I work whenever these events happen, and I haven’t been able to play any of em, sucks that they have a 2 hour cooldown like why? Actually why? Just a throwaway event honestly
I like the idea but it could be done a little better by not having two of the events on a timer. I get what they are doing there trying to do something different which I like. I think it interesting that they are adding stuff like MMO play style and the season system reminds me of it to be honest.
