man, even now...I still love this moment. The look on theon's face when he finally gets the acknowledgement and forgiveness he so desperately wished for. Being told that he was a good man was enough for him to go down like a real Iron Born: weapon in hand, charging at the enemy.
In the end, Theon Greyjoy did not die as the lowly Reek or even Theon Turncloak. He died as Theon Greyjoy, ward of Lord Eddard Stark raised in Winterfell. He fought for Stark, Greyjoy, and all living things. He died protecting the last trueborn son of his ward. A death worthy of any great knight or even a prince. Not a redemption, his crimes were too great for such. But a deliverance and the best that he could have hoped for.
Whether or not it was redemption is not for you or I to decide. It was for the Starks to decide and based on Bran’s final words to him, it was absolutely redemption.
Can confirm. At work I made a joke to an older coworker and I was like "ah my bad bro I was playing" and he as like "don't worry bud. You're a good man with a good heart. I know you by now" and I was like damnnn 🥲
I think what I love most about this scene is that it’s Bran he heard “you’re a good man” from, somebody who now has no bias, no ulterior motive, no desire, he only speaks fact, and that means it was undeniable, unbiased fact that Theon, after everything he did, was a good man
There's a lot good about the battle of winterfell this, jorah's death, the music, even most of the as action was really good the only problem was the darkness and arya coming out of fucking nowhere
Theon had the best redemption story. He made some awful choices, suffered severely for it and almost lost himself completely. But he redeemed himself here and went out fighting.
This scene cracks me up when it’s broken down… Theon you’re a good man just dead pan from brann but also the night king just letting this redemption arc go down. He’s like I’ll just stand here ..he had so much time to kill bran. He oberyn martelled himself
That's the thing about Theon. The Iron Born are great sailors but they're not soldiers. If Theon was a true Iron Born those walkers would have swamped and killed him before the scary snowman (Night King) got anywhere near Bran. But Theon was able to throw hurt on them because he was a Stark.
I'm sorry but this is just wrong. There's a chapter in the books where Asha Greyjoy is leading 100 men in the woods outside Deepwood Motte. Stannis attacks her with a force of 2,000. Despite this, her 100 men are able to kill five times their number before all but a handful of them are killed. The Ironborn are some of the best fighters in Westeros, with some of the best equipment and the best training, and they absolutely can fight on land.
Prior to Aegon's conquest, the iron born actually ruled a big part of the riverlands and some of the storm lands, and had done so for a hundred years. It was dragons that brought the iron born down

He actually knew Theon IS GOING TO DIE, it was his last words to Theon as this “you did wrong things and you hated yourself, but now you are a good man you kept your words with honor”
Jon told Theon that he was a Stark and. Greyjoy, but his death was all Stark. Brave, honourable, selfless. Stood his ground between his enemy and Bran with a roar and a charge and did not waiver from his duty. Ned would have been proud of his end
Man these mfs had some dope honorable deaths overrun outnumbered but fought til their blades were caked in blood and flesh and dulled and then fought with their hands.
Theon has the single best story arc in this series and you cannot tell me otherwise. This is one of the few redeeming factors for season 8. After Bran said he was a good man, Theon knew he was going to die. But damn he went out like a badass.
@@MidnightPhant0m1 Maybe it would have been more accurate to say 5 seconds lol. Theon runs into the spear and gets tossed away I’m not saying him dying here wouldn’t have been alright, but they just had him run straight into the spear and die with like no resistance
Pardon the pun but the Night King and his boys cold as fuck. Bran wasnt worried about Theon going solo against half the army but as soon as those 3 turn up he knows its game over 🤣
Would have been cooler if arya gave theon the Valerian dagger and he stabbed the night king in his final moment. Ending the attack and making a hero out of someone who desperately wanted to be loved and known.. even in his wrong doings.. it would have been the perfect redemption arc for theon.. I know the opinion would not be that popular.. but that would have been perfect.. his last successful job in defending and caring for the Starks and all he loves.. Rip theon..
I think upon seeing the night king, Theon knew he was dead. But what Bran said to him made him finally find peace within himself. Even if it didn’t make a difference, Theon was ready to protect his little brother, three eyed raven or not
This scene is so utterly ridiculous. All the wights just stop advancing and are completely still while the Night King approaches at a snails pace. He then stands and what’s for Theon to run straight at him? Just wtf are we doing 😂
O Rei da Noite n só tem poder de reviver morto mas de fazer uma simples "madeira" da lança fura uma armadura que aguenta espada e atravessou um corpo facilmente realmente
A team up with the stark would have been more bad ass! “What is dead may never die!!” Theon holds on to the night. Jon covers for arya! Arya ambush night king.
What would have been best was giving Theon (not Arya) the win. Let him get stabbed and die, but stab the NK with dragon-glass spear tip on his way down.
This still pisses me off..... Worst writing in the history of successful franchises. All so they couod rush to their Star Wars trilogy that immediately got dumped!
At least, he should've killed the Night King...Not Arya who magically appeared from the bushes...He could just stab him back with a hidden dragon glass.... Stupid writing...
Theon Died for nothing. Like, yeah he got his redemption, and Bran knew he was going to die, but it made it seem like it was part of something, when it wasn't. If he had just left, Arya would've arrived and killed the Night King just the same.
Nah everything was timed right. Who knows Arya would have even got there in time. There's a chunk of time there the Night King stopped because of Theon's presence
While I do love this moment, it does feel a little pale to me. Like I wish he had still gotten in one or two swings, and THEN gotten stabbed. Like it feels almost comically stupid that he just runs at him head on but that’s just me.
i guess theon at the beginning of the story had a very bad journey till the end of the movie . he suffer so much , compare to brand . who is cripple and still i dnt knw his role lol

He died as Reek, he was Reek everytime after he killed Ser Rodrik
Definitely died as a lowly kinslaying turncoat, even got off a bit too easy tbh
No it was redemption if he didn't buy time for Arya to get there and save Bran humanity would have been done for.
“Not a redemption”; that’s highly subjective. Individuals that are critical of others often need to take a good look at themselves first.
Whether or not it was redemption is not for you or I to decide. It was for the Starks to decide and based on Bran’s final words to him, it was absolutely redemption.
I think, deep down, that's what most of us men just want to hear. A sincere, "You're a good man."

What every struggling war veteran desperately needs to hear: "You're a good man. Thank you."
Kinda crazy lol at the end of Saving Private Ryan he asks his wife if he’s a good man and if he led a good life so you might be onto something
Season 8 did a lot of bad stuff to a great story. But this was one epic last stand. The only good part about the battle of winterfell imo.
Easily. A final stand to his death to show his true worth is Theon for sure.
That and the fact Jamie Lannister actually fought for the people
There's a lot good about the battle of winterfell this, jorah's death, the music, even most of the as action was really good the only problem was the darkness and arya coming out of fucking nowhere

In the end Theon was a good man. Nuff said
That is some magical f**king wood to stab through two plates of steel like that.
Theons death feels like a GRRM thing, not a DnD thing. I dont know how to explain it, it just does.
Like how the knight king gave his dead body one last look before walking off. Mark of respect in way?
For sure, Night king was never a sadist or anything, so it was for sure a mark of respect
Still one of the best sequences in the whole show
Theon died a warriors death, far better than those of the iron islands. He deserves songs for ages.

Theon rlly was the best character in the show since he was the only one in season 8 not ruined but instead had the best arc in the show imo
Brienne wasn't ruined in season 8.
Amazing character growth. Hated to see Theon die.
Same such a complex character and amazing acting I don't think I've seen better acting just incredible
Theon was the only character who didn’t get dicked around during season 8
Jorah too he had probably the perfect death protecting the woman he vowed to protect
I would say the Hound too.

He redeemed himself. Bran was the boy who once asked "Have you hated us the whole time?" and is now here telling this same person he's a good man.
