- Chipping Sparrow feeding a Brown-headed Cowbird fledgling. The Brown-headed Cowbird is a brood parasite, meaning that it lays its eggs in nests of other species. The foster parents then unknowingly raise the young cowbirds, usually at the expense of their own offspring.

Sparrow is, like, "dude, the food is right there. Eat it yourself."
See that Cardinal at the end of the video? The Cardinals are also victimized by the Cowbird. The late, great ornithologist George Miksch Sutton called the Cardinal the "perfect host" for the Cowbird, since, he had observed, a Cardinal will usually raise at least one of its own in addition to the Cowbird babies. However, in my own experience, the three times that I saw a Cardinal feeding a young Cowbird, I did not see any young Cardinals nearby.
Live feed is back! Yay!
We had the same thing happen at our house! I couldn’t help laughing at how ridiculous it looked! Cow Birds are so lazy!
If live stream is back thank God because we watch it and it's so nice to see all the birds. Doves are beautiful.
And the Cardinal is like : What the heck is going on here? 😅♥But yeah, that's kind of the dark side of nature.
Yeah, the Cardinal’s expression was funny to watch, especially with his face looking partially molted like that. 😆
You’re back! ❤
Livestream is back now, too 😀
Cowbird adult must of layed her egg in a chipping sparrows nest. That's what they do. Crazy. Thanks for sharing. Good captures.
Like these shot info videos.
Good to see the main channel back up and running.
Now I know what was going on in my backyard the other day!! ❤❤ Glad your channel is back up!! Missed it!!
Thank you for sharing. Have I missed something….is the live feed down?
Cowbirds are lazy parents! BTW - is the livestream down today??

wow!
❤❤❤
Beautiful video. What happened to live stream??
I can’t see the live feed either. Hope all is okay.
I have seen that in my yard once but mine was a song sparrow I thought I was seeing things and that’s when I done some research and found out thats what brown headed cowbirds do. The cardinal was looking at the chipping sparrow like what are you doing? Lol
Very Interesting! For some reason I am having a hard time finding the live feed. Hope it's just me and everything is ok.
wasn’t just you; i think it was down. but luckily, it’s back up and running! yay!
Cowbirds are such grifters and sparrows are too sweet!
Buen
Is there a problem with the live feed, I have been missing it
OMGoodness...I'm thinking about how tiny and sweet that chipping sparrow is (the size of a black capped chickadee or goldfinch) compared to that monster of a species. I'm still glad this has been filmed and documented though! Poor precious chipping sparrow being used as a slave not to mention the babies being eaten or killed...poor precious babies too. And the thing is, these cowbirds are now moving into other areas where they weren't originally (which makes them somewhat invasive). I've seen a few birds at my yard this year that I've never seen before, but was disappointed that one of them was this brown headed cowbird. Again, not originally native to my area so not so natural.
I like the voice of the adult brown headed cowbirds but I don't like their characters in killing other baby birds and destroying eggs of other mothers. Robbing the other bird species of their children is a sad thing.
