I was one of the guys having the time of my life dancing behind Jimmy, when we got the rhythm right and Richard slid across the floor in front of us we thought we were as famous as him!
You looked like you were having the absolute time of your life. Something we can only really imagine these days! Great to have grown up in the 80s - I really pity people having to suffer the state of Planet Britain now.
Die beiden Mädchen die Rechts und links neben im Tanzen sind auch wirklich sehr gut nicht Perfekt aber genau das macht es Perfekt.Weisst du wie die Heissen? Und ob man die noch woanders zu sehen bekam?
You'll find it hard to find music you want if you stick to mainstream charts and trends. A tip for you is to search up for "genres". Will be one of the best things you'll do for yourself. If you want to find music like this look up "Sophisti-Pop", and you'll find both old and modern indie artists who make this kind of music.
Those of us who lived during this and are still here - Lordy we moved the world! And we lost so many friends. And we never forget. And we never stop fighting. And we NEVER STOP LOVING💋
All I can say is thank you as a bisexual male! My heart and condolences goes out to everyone during this time and I can’t thank you and the generations before for fighting and this generation should be grateful and so thankful and a lot of them are which is good but some of them still need to realise we are so lucky today that we are allowed to love any adult gender we choose to love without the violence of the past! Wish you all the best
This song is the embodiment of why the eighties were so great. When I hear it, I feel on one hand sadness because I'm no longer a carefree kid like I was back then, but on the other hand I also feel a certain joy that I can't describe.
What gets me is how naturally pretty the girls are. No multiple piercings, tattoos, exaggerated eyebrows or puffed up lips shaped like car tyres! I was a teenager in the eighties and loved the fashions as well as the music.
We are the same age. I do the same ol thing......when no one is around!!! Almost every 80s Hit that I remember listening to, I go back to that crazy 16 yo that I once was. I am now someone you wouldnt even think was a wild teenager. If anyone ever knew how I was compared to now, their jaw would hit the floor.
Yes. And they did it in Don´t leave me this way too. Loved their music back then, bought records. Marc Almond is another example from that era who also could cover songs in great style of his own.
Jackson Five did this years before, followed by Gloria Gaynor, huge number one hit - but none of them come near to the quality of this version from the early 80's. An absolute classic tune. What a voice Jimmy
I'm 62 and I have this on my playlist for the gym! I have so much of Jimmy Somerville on my playlist! And boy do I workout hard on the XT and treadmill with it. It makes me feel 23 again! I never tire of it!
Música única que gran reversión de un tema increíble, que no pare de sonar la buena música esa que nos alegra nuestro corazón, nuestra mente y nuestro espíritu....... .
This totally epitomises the 80s and the wonderful era that I and millions of others were fortunate to be raised in. I absolutely adore the 80s and miss them enormously. The songs being released at the time were completely banging!! What a time it was, to be alive!!!!!
I love the bit when Richard Cole’s says ‘I’m done standing behind this keyboard, I’m going out there to bust moves’, great music great era, god bless the 80’s !!
april 2021, I'm 63 years old and dancing, moving what should be waist !!! Golden years back in my soul & heart ! Jimmy I love you !!! thanks for your beautiful Downtown boy !
That lass in the black hat is so cute😊. Jimmy had such (still has) a great voice. This my favourite song of his and love his energy! Just wish I could buy some off him😂😂😂.
Jimmy had an innocence that was genuine and people LOVED him for his raw talent that would not be denied!!! I REALLY hope he has a comeback...there is a generation that should know what REAL talent and music looked and sounded like. He has no equal and never will! Wow!
June Kingston on the drums and Jimmy Somerville's vocals are a real dancefloor filler the 80s music was cracking and like this song you could dance to it brilliant love it
Love Richard Cole dancing at the end He is a famous Anglican priest-now I listen to him on radio 4 and Jimmy is still the best dancer of all time 🙏🏼🦋🏴
First, a shout out to Mr. Clifton Davis for writing this fantastic piece of music. Thank you! I've been around long enough to have been around when the Jackson 5 and Gloria Gaynor released their version of this song (both of which are fantastic) so I am quite familiar with this song. I just recently stumbled across this version by the Communards and I was WOWED!! It may be the best version yet!. Absolutely love it. It got my 75 year old bones up and dancing.
I'm 77 and feel like 17 watching this. Love Jimmy's voice and dance moves. Why am I just now hearing this fantastic music? Did this group's music not make it across the Pond in the eighties? Love it!
a masterpiece that translates the simple desire to have fun in the evening. This clip is great and the sound too. Today we no longer know how to make festive music
Wow, this still sounds so good. Jimmy is such a fantastic singer, and his voice is perfect for this song. I love this. Really brilliant, they don't make artists or songs like this any more, but at least we still have treasures like this. Thank you, Jimmy.
The Piano Man who glides onto the dance floor like a lightning bolt at 3:23 and dances likes a disco pro is Jimmy S.' s longtime collaborator, Richard Coles. He eventually left pop music and became a priest in the Anglican Church! He's now a published author and a vicar with his own parish somewhere in the U.K. Gee, life can be...unexpected. More power to him, & I hope he is happy.

Jimmy's bandmate Richard Coles (aka the Reverend Richard Coles) is also in the video.
Its a cover of Gloria Gaynor's same song.
You can't beat a bit of the Communards to dance too 80's best .
As a 17 year old who definitely wasn't born in the 80s it makes me very jealous that we don't have music like this anymore ❤
