It's good to see the content creators finally breaking through that wall of polite disagreement with the devs and actually saying how they feel. Its these content creators that will lead a large chunk of the community, and it's only when the entire community stands together that it might change. The writing was on the wall when JKR came around and people normalized dropping major $$$ for a character. What sealed the deal for me that CG was done making this game actually fun. Was with DR and how they sprung Kyrotech on us 24 hours before the event. They saw people were prepared to they started artificially gating his power by nerfing how quickly people could power him up without spending $$.
Then comes Malak where they added a new layer to stagger his power. With GS they really showed they don't give a shit about it being a game anymore. At least Malak was still useful at 5*, now they create a character that's pretty useless at the time of unlock.

I think some people point to Jedi Training Rey as the start of the end. She was overpowered, but she was the lead role in the new movie at the time, so I get it. But I do agree with you that it was JKR who really killed the game. For years everyone was clamoring for Revan in game. I hope you all are happy.

Screw this game they kicked me out midway when I was doing the event this is my third time around and now that I finally geared up all the toons fixed all the mods just paid 45$ just to get one last piece of gear and to have the client RESTART ON ME Midway during my battle and reschedule the event!! No way GOODBYE SWGOH I’m completely done

They hired an EA Sports Exec to run this game, what were we expecting. EA Sports games are horrible shells to be monitized AFTER spending $80 on the base game.
This is BS. I just had enough time that I cleared the LS and DS of the event, but had a client restart immediately after. People who played earlier in the day would have recieved a 7* malak but now I have to spend 60,000 GET, I'd like a free 7* too please!

I just unlocked it this morning for the first time but for fuck sake i'm not looking forward to spend all my guild currency, which i don't even have much since i'm not a whale or in a guild of whales, my guild makes 11 stars on the geonosis territory battle for crying out loud, and there is no incentive play the others territory battles since 11 stars on geonosis give you more rewars tan 20+ on the other 2..

Since revan came to The game, everything Went worng. Cgs mentality of abusing The Users ist horrible. It was The biggest mistake to get old Republic in this Game showing The Developers that Users pay insane amounts of money die Characters in a GAME. This was actually my Point of losing fun in this Game. Its Just Not fun to star The game everyday and Farm characters and Gear to unlock and Gear Up Characters being f2p usable AS soon as they are Out of meta and absolute Trash. Its Just sad that such a good Game to such an amazing franchise became that awful.

So here is my take on this. I am gonna post here because I cannot be bothered with Reddit and the SWGOH forums are clearly not read.
I actually don't think this was a bug or a mistake. I actually think the thought they were doing a good thing. Everyone was complaining about having to do General Skywalker, and this was 3rd time through for Malak and i believe they thought they would give it at 7* or as near as.
What they didn't expect was the backlash from the whales. The only people this actually effects negatively are the people who have Malak at 7* and who are bitching about GAS. And of course those are the only people that CG care about. I genuinely think that are that stupid that they didn't think through the impact of doing this. Once they heard the backlash from their cash cows, they panic and start talking about bugs and rollbacks to appease the only people they care about.
I wish I could believe that this was a bug, but this is the second time they rolled out the event. To add the shards would have been a code change. To do it with 0 shards would take zero changes, just reactivate event. This was designed, they thought they were doing a good thing, but they annoyed their spenders and reacted. They really *are* that stupid...
Well done mg! Respect for the honesty! Gave up swgoh after jedi knight revan ruined arena (my fav part) but still watch you, ahnaldt and cubs. I wish you guys all the best after this game dies as you helped keep it alive this long! CG never appreciated that but the community did.

I know that this is a silly thought, but this video made me look introspectively at how i play the game. I am a massive hoarder of resources and i have been able to complete all of these cash grab events the first time except for Jedi Revan (had to buy a $30 pack) without spending and then max out the characters within 2-3 weeks on gear and abilities. I'm not going to blame myself for how i choose to play the game, however it does make me wonder if my approach is detrimental to the game or not. It's obvious to me that they don't want players to be able to hoard enough resources to max out these "paywall" characters without spending hundreds of $$$ to exist, and by me doing this I am creating the problem where CG is forced to push the paywall further and further out so they can get to my wallet. I know, i'm just one player but i know there are more F2P whales like me out there that grind out for every resource that we can get your hands on. This video just made me think if that mentality is what is ruining the experience for 99.9% of the rest of the player base. I would like to think not, but it's obvious at this point that morale of the community and the state of the galaxy are at an all time low.
Naw man, smart of you, clearly ahead of the curve. Ive spent money here and there but I like building new teams and ussing my tokens (efficiently) to buy those harder to get pieces of gear.
IMO your in no way in the wrong for playing like that, THEYRE in the wrong for encouraging it however. Why should strong guilds / players running the "New content" that is geo TB be penalized by having it to take LONGER to get the epic confrontation toons (less GET1 tokens if you havent saved any).ONTOP of that being the only semi-reliable source for stun guns and g12 gear.
Honestly GEO TB should reward at the minimum the same amout of GET1 Tokens that a ~40* hoth tb would. and at 20+ Geo Tb stars we should be getting ~10-15k.

Here after they repealled and are rolling servers back. 250 crystals after spending an hour and a half on malaks ls battle is the biggest gut punch I’ve received in a while from this game

Only way that I believe would make sense is let everyone keep their shards who got them. And give the people who already have him 7 the equivalent of 185 shard in GET.

6 mins in... what else needs to be said?!? i love the honesty. and i think there are a lot of us that feel the same way. i am a spender, and a collector as well, but i didnt even try to put the resources into this event, even though i was very close on the requirements, simply because i had not horded the GET tokens, and knew that 7 star wouldnt be possible for several months after.

Love the passion and honesty in this video. You're in a rare position to represent a large player base. I'm all for your swgoh videos whether it's positive or not. A big majority of player base is outraged atm and CG really needs to get it though their cash cows skulls that they really need to step up and make this game great again. I highly suspect EA is losing the Star Wars IP to the Newly Formed Lucas Arts at the start of the new year. It seems only logical they ordered all their developer teams to milk all platforms to make as much money as they can before they lose their cash cow. Oh my God!!! IT's actually my reaction to what happen. First I was happy I could replay the event ( loved it the first time), then amazed that I got shards and somehow happy because I was missing 5 shards (I was waiting for the TW to end to do that, but unlocking it 10 hours earlier, was neat, I felt like a child). But then reality struck...I thought at all the shards I bought to that point...in vane so this event to come and mess things up. Then I thought, well, this must be a strategy from CG to make G.Skywalker easier to farm (having 2, Malak and G.Skywalker, was a burden), but then again, it was not an excuse to do this thing. I pride myself on being free to play player and I got to a high point in 2 years and only occasionally investing in the game (10$- once a year - does this take me out of the free to play group? idk!) as a big thank you for the game I play. I actually went to EA Support and complained and asked for my tokens back. I told them they can have those 5 shards back. They said they can't give back game currency (I wanted to tell them about the currency we get on the annual anniversary, but I was done!) The lady trying to listen to me was amazing and wonderful and allowed me to complain and get it off my chest, but in the end she told me she can't help me out. I saved the conversation (She should really get a high bonus on what she does).
I'm not happy that those hard working players will have their shards taken back, but to have a fair game, they will all survive, I'm pretty sure.
I agree with the farmin part too. I used to love to lvl up my characters and now it's all about the gear, the relics, the money in the end.
I used to love this game. It's more frustrating than the game I used to love. I'm playing now just because of the guild I'm in - we form a pretty bad a** group (really good and wonderful people).

I am convinced that the game is at its final stage, with maybe two or three more big characters to release and then it is done. That's why the devs are tired of sustaining the game in the long run and don't care about players leaving or complaining. I am still enjoying GA and TW and TB a LOT. I enjoy it and everything I've got so far. Thus when the game shuts down I will have a good impression on it and move on.

I didn’t empathize with McMole’s whiny video because I felt a 5 star unlock was there to give everyone else some time to get adjusted and he was just being entitled. But the fact that you can’t gear 13 for another 6 months after spending nearly a grand must be infuriating. With Malak it was reasonable because g12 was the highest you can go and he was still amazing at 5 stars, but the fact you can spend $800 and still have a pile of garbage is absurd.
So why did you think it was whining to begin with? Why did it take this video for you to realize that this system is terrible? You couldn't be bothered to think about it for yourself before, but you were still sure McMole was just being a whiner?
@@naragath2531 I was mostly thinking about it from the perspective of everyone else who has to deal with General Skywalker that didn't get him. Theoretically, a 5 star unlock for a massively overpowered kit allows the rest of the playerbase to adjust to the shift less abruptly, and Malak was perfectly viable on release. It does seem whiny that you don't get to instantly stomp everyone immediately because you shelled out for a new character, but the way it was phrased here about it taking 6 whole months to 7 star him was the difference maker. No need to be hostile about it either, I'm simply saying that the way it was put here but a different spin on the situation. If you're butthurt that not everyone can understand the plight of the mega whale, that's your issue not mine.

They haven't eased up gear wall like they said either. If they wanted to ease up the gear wall get these new toons out of GEC shop and give us our toons that we invested so heavy to get at 7*. And BTW 3 Kyrotech a day isn't an ease up on the gear wall.

,and its way worse for those who started 3 years ago or 2.5 like me and at first years i was collecting all toon...i should focus and gear only the important toon... now i cant go below rank 30 ( before revan , second pass ive started to finsih around 100-55 ) and with dr at secknd pass i manage to finish 100-30 ) . It help a lot with farming but even there ....sonce mod 2.0 i have no god mods so i wont be able to finish 1 st or below 20 !!!!

I agree that 5 star unlocks of these new toons suck. It was ok for Malak at the time, he was viable since he wasn't a leader and we didn't have g13 or relics yet. But holy crap how naive you are to think that it would be fine for CG to give a segment of players the equivalent of 30,000 crystals worth of GET to bypass the Kyrotech, Especially since this would have allowed players to eventually unlock Malak while bypassing one of the farms and toon requirements. Also, people have been using the hoarding method to be ready for whatever CG brings for years now. Just because you never played that way doesn't mean it's not a viable strategy to playing this game. Anyway, CG really fucked up this time, they need to get their act together.

I love Star Wars too MG, but CG is acting a lot like Lucasfilm nowadays and ruining this game just like they’re ruining Star Wars with the sequels. I’ve been watching you since February of 2016 and I’ve always stood behind you and I agree with you on everything. You even got me to play Marvel Strike Force (and I still log in about 2-3 times per week).
On a side note: I’ll check out Dragon Champions, but if you want to try new games, I would love to watch you play a mobile game called “The Elder Scrolls: Legends.” It’s a cool card-like game (similar to Hearthstone or Gwent). I’m a hoarder. Had 20,000 of every currency, 8 zetas, etc....45k crystals.....did not get GAS. I calculated I would have to spend more crystals than I would gain from a slightly higher arena rank. Plus when I learned of 5* unlock with GET, I knew it wouldn’t be worth it. As it turns out, I wouldn’t even be able to use him in arena now.
So, it’s not even galaxy of Hoarders....it’s galaxy of Whales. Plain and simple.

I 2000% AGREE WITH YOU! CG really screwed people with a 5 star unlock. I thought they were trying to be nice with the opportunity to get Malak shards but they didn't care. I'm NOT spending any more money unless they make this right!!
Mate! This game was gearhold before 1 years ago..not now started...also EA is biggest cashgrabber..i was played lot of ea games, they are totally incorrect..they fck out with her self subscripers too.. as in swold republic..(not enought the subscription..also u must buy things with micro trans..) this is why BLIZZARD is mutch better than another cheap madafaka company.. In wow u can buy cosmetics but cant but things withch make you stronger..
And more one thing..if swgoh is close, never more fckn android collector game..i advaice u too.. if u want fck your time with turn based games just play heroes of might and magic 3 or xcom ( hopefully new inc). This mobile games are big RUBBISH TIME-CASH (playing 3year+ with this shiit)
You know, it's REALLY sad that, when Revan/Malak was essentially choking the game, I thought that was the lowest point it could hit. Boy, hindsight is definitely 20/20. That was merely the beginning of the end. Once CG got sucked into P2W power-creep? Every subsequent decision after Malak has been financially motivated above and beyond any player concerns.
For a game produced by EA, a notoriously asinine development studio when it comes to microtransactions and trying to suck extra money out of your wallet like a greedy sponge, Galaxy of Heroes started off pretty nice, and actually felt genuinely F2P friendly. I suppose that's how they get you: start it off with the goal post easily within reach, then tug it back a little bit...then a little more, and a little more, until finally you're trying to justify paying hundreds of dollars for virtual products that you don't, technically, even own.
Then it becomes the sunk cost fallacy: you've already spent X amount of dollars, why leave it all on the table and walk away? Honestly, with digital games like this, it's easy to pop the bubble once you learn one simple fact: sooner or later, they're gonna pull the plug, and when they do, you're going to be forced to leave it all on the table anyway, regardless of how much/little you paid out. You do YOURSELF a service by keeping the overall total down.
For me, I'm going down with the ship. I'm a F2P player who, after dropping the game for a year, FINALLY got JKR, and am poised to get DR/Malak. After that, I don't really give a shit. I'll just continue to NOT PAY for my gaming experience, just so I can waggle my F2P cock in front of EA's face. It is the best, and truthfully ONLY, way you can get back at them where it hurts: keep YOUR money in YOUR wallet, not theirs. Even better if you continue to use their content without paying, to boot. That's a double middle-finger.
I enjoy your candidness on this subject. I AM a hoarder (I do it with any game, it's just the way I play), and even with that the tactic of requiring GEC 1.0 is pretty dumb in my opinion. It's obvious though why they are doing it - because they DON'T WANT you to spend your GEC 1.0 currency on gear! They want you to spend CRYSTALS on gear if you're falling behind on that end. Requiring that you dump all your valuable currency into shards is 'genius' in their minds, but doing it not once, but twice is downright shady. Ironically, so many whales are now getting the shaft because there's no way to buy the GEC 1.0 currency. So genius....
.....and all of this commentary is BEFORE the Malak debacle dropped. All it did was make the situation WORSE than before! Way to go EA....what a flaming hot mess.....
Just FYI, you would have been able to replay the event regardless of the shards being there or not, they said it when malak first came out, and it was actually physically repeatable the second time it was released
I am failing to see the relevance of this comment . I tried. But it literally has nothing to do with why we (the majority) are mad. Its a 5 star unlock for 6 months of preperation, then another 6 months to max out the gear only for them to either A) release a better team or B)reskin the gear by calling it relics . So basically characters you were done with a year ago now need all your time again. Its the ultimate carrot in front of the camel . It wasn't always this way and they are losing many players . But like you said i coulda played the event again......

This game is now dying (so let it die). I will never play in any new game developed by CG - just becouse what they are doing with SW GOH. EA is forcing CG to make more and more money quater after quater - soon we can expect g20 and relics lv15. Playing SW GOH is now waste of time.
This video got 10x better as soon as f-bombs started flying.
My reasons for being pissed are, I finally 7* Malak about 2.5 weeks ago. If I would have known I could have gotten enough shards to 7* him 2.5 weeks later, I would have used all my GET on g13 pieces.
Somehow CG has managed to f*ck every one of the players over on this.

So I did NOT get GAS. But the way I see everyones frustration. I really wanted to get GAS. But I didnt horde GET tokens, I didnt farm Malak (Been using GG and Padme)...but SOMONE PLEASE correct me if im wrong when i say didnt someone from CG post / say "We dont want players hoarding, its not how we intend for the game to be played"? I feel like it was said ~around the time Kyro gear was released.
Further to that note, I cant imagine people with less thank 40-50k GET tokens even logically thinking to themselves "Im going to spend 700$ on this new toon" knowing your not getting a 7* right away for future epic confrontations.
The fact of the matter is they keep pushing up requirements and deminishing returns to ultimately push spenders to their limits. It all started with marquee toons going from 4 down to 3* unlocks, then they jacked up the price of marquee packs by "adding value"..which i dont think anyone cared for and now we have this ...these events with EXTREME pre-requisites to unlock a characrer that is NOW unusable in arena and is only rushed to 7* by playing the game the way they didnt want us to play..which is sittting on the most valuable gear currency in the entire game. Not to mention not being able to use them in raids or TB... Gone are the days of pvp viable marquee toons / sub-7* toons.
It really sucks to see how non-passionate these devs are about such a great universe. I can completly understand running a bussiness requires income but theyre needs to be a line, a balance that is Income VS customer satisfaction. In the early days, it was there, you could see it. Now..theyve gone so far even the big spenders are getting furious.
Terrible move CG, its a shame we have 2 faced greedy liars incharge of such a nostalgic and beautiful universe.
