My cousin was a marine. He says in many situations you can trust a good dog. If the dog is usually kind, but growled at the stranger, that is one strike against the stranger. If you got bad vibes- two strikes.
One of my rescues is a pitti/catahoula mix. The only time he has growled at anyone is once when we were at the store waiting to pick up our curbside order. The guy thought he was going to approach us but he changed his mind very quickly. Dogs are an excellent judge of character. Love and prayers, y’all!
Back when 9 eleven happened, I was working at a day hospital for psychotic patients. I remember something the lead psychiatrist said during a staff meeting ... some of the things that our patients were paranoid about were actually happening. Same applies today. It's fairly common to talk to folks walking their dogs if you are walking past them. However, it does seem a bit odd that someone stopped his vehicle to ask questions, especially if he did not live there. Gotta be ready for anything, even in our own neighborhoods. As a matter of fact he just visited Paris and he said that the streets literally stunk!!

We rarely let them out alone. If we do, it's just quick to do their business. There will be no walks outside the fence for a bit, at least. Ella will have to get her exercise inside the fence.

The tweekers don't mind ripping your heart out to try to get a couple of bucks for a cute dog, and are even more interested in expensive dogs. I've had a big rough looking man try to sell me a little Chihuahua with a rhinestone collar on the street. If I'd had money on me I would have bought it just to try to save it. If they can't sell them they just turn them loose. It happens all the time here. Sounds like those housing units are a planned 15 minute city. Aka, the future slums of America. When we went through half of Colorado on our anniversary trip this month, we said to each other that we had NEVER seen as many apartment complexes that were MASSIVE in our lives. I’m talking driving for hours and just one massive unit after another once you got out of the country areas. That’s very interesting about the Chinese tanks… Some people steal purebreds from yards also. Weird…
Was on the phone the other day making a reservation & the guy on the other end actually said “ thank you for being so nice to me “ … that tells me that folks out there are so mean . Folks are angry everywhere in the world ! That’s why I limit my time with people and the news these days

The population of the US has increased by the millions due to the new people from away. I noticed that the highways here in Maine are more crowded than normal, yes we have a lot of people that vacation here but even considering that there are more than normal. The people had to go somewhere. Many people from New York and some from California moved here. Also where there are more people here it increases the amount of food needed in the grocery stores. The stores are use to feeding a certain number of people but now that has changed. Where is all the food going to come from? Just a thought.

When i got my puppy in Jan, the people would stop and stare. Some actualky walked over, nevet saw before or since. I became super protective. All wanted to know if male or female and if i was going to hm get him fixed. Red flag. I finally said he has not had all of his shots and then asked obes with dogs if they had the bordetella shot. Now most won't talk with me. Some i don't even see. He will growl at some, and i don't stop him. I was so leary of some of the people.

Interesting, my observation has been mixed. Half are angry and run through the market with blinders, don't care of they run into you. In Kroger produce department, one woman pushed me aside while she was talking on her phone. Yesterday at walmart, a rather large man was racing through lettuce, fresh vegtables, pushing carts out of his way, as he was filling his own cart. Even the employees stood back and watched him. Oddly, the frozen food isles were empty but the can good isles were really busy. NO CANNED POTATOES AT OUR WALMART. Canned vegtable isle has about 1/2 of normal stock. Almost ALL of the small cans of veggies are gone, only the larger cans left. The tuna isle is thinning out. They had PLENTY of peanut butter, coffee, bread, pickles, baking supplies, sugar. Plenty of paper products. Plenty of wine, soda, water, chips, cookies .....you know, junk! The last time I saw this was 2019.
Animals know. Backyard breeding is really out of control right now. You might want to make sure you carry when walking her. I know Jerimiah Babe carries when he walks Nugget (French bulldog).
The information I’ve seen version 1-b has some cause for concern. It doesn’t have to sexually transmitted. Just fluid to skin transfer. When folks ask about my girls I let them know that they’re spayed up front.

Trust Ella! My Parker is a people person and people are drawn to him. But when he barks and gets agitated we pay attention! Parker is a 160 lb Rottweiler that loves and protects his home!

Not a problem. I walk my dog through the neighborhood twice a day and if I see someone with a beautiful dog, I will ask is that a male or female. I do not think that was fishy. If he had opened the car door, I would have told him about my "little friend" and would he like to meet my "little friend".

I can see both sides of the coin concerning the encounter with the the man in the truck, lol. Maybe he had a female dog so very similar to your sweetie pie and asking about her sex, gave him a familiar feeling of the love he had for a past dog (?) On the other side of the coin, maybe he knows other people who are interested in certain types of dogs and your dog made him pause to get information. He then could inform the other people about her. That's a little far fetched except I've noticed more lately that the well dressed or decent looking person is actually the informant who gives information to their nefarious "friends" and the friends do the dirty work, stealing. That happened to a lady I was taking care of. Nefarious people are too smart. They have too much time on their hands to think about how to do good people wrong. When i got my puppy in Jan, the people would stop and stare. Some actualky walked over, nevet saw before or since. I became super protective. All wanted to know if male or female and if i was going to hm get him fixed. Red flag. I finally said he has not had all of his shots and then asked obes with dogs if they had the bordetella shot. Now most won't talk with me. Some i don't even see. He will growl at some, and i don't stop him. I was so leary of some of the people.
I get a piece of sausage and a round egg….no bread at Dunkin. This really fills you up. Oh, lots of napkins to degrease the meat.

Interesting, my observation has been mixed. Half are angry and run through the market with blinders, don't care of they run into you. In Kroger produce department, one woman pushed me aside while she was talking on her phone. Yesterday at walmart, a rather large man was racing through lettuce, fresh vegtables, pushing carts out of his way, as he was filling his own cart. Even the employees stood back and watched him. Oddly, the frozen food isles were empty but the can good isles were really busy. NO CANNED POTATOES AT OUR WALMART. Canned vegtable isle has about 1/2 of normal stock. Almost ALL of the small cans of veggies are gone, only the larger cans left. The tuna isle is thinning out. They had PLENTY of peanut butter, coffee, bread, pickles, baking supplies, sugar. Plenty of paper products. Plenty of wine, soda, water, chips, cookies .....you know, junk!

The information I’ve seen version 1-b has some cause for concern. It doesn’t have to sexually transmitted. Just fluid to skin transfer. When folks ask about my girls I let them know that they’re spayed up front.

I wouldn't walk my dog in that area again, but I'm overly cautious. Doesn't matter how friendly he seemed. I've been on walks with my daughter before, and passing someone walking their dog, we mostly ask it's name, and my daughter asks if she can pet it. Never thought to ask if it's a male or female. So, idk.
Yes, Ella will have to get her exercise inside the fence at least for a while. I trust that Ella growl was for a good reason.

Not a problem. I walk my dog through the neighborhood twice a day and if I see someone with a beautiful dog, I will ask is that a male or female. I do not think that was fishy. If he had opened the car door, I would have told him about my "little friend" and would he like to meet my "little friend".

I can see both sides of the coin concerning the encounter with the the man in the truck, lol. Maybe he had a female dog so very similar to your sweetie pie and asking about her sex, gave him a familiar feeling of the love he had for a past dog (?)
On the other side of the coin, maybe he knows other people who are interested in certain types of dogs and your dog made him pause to get information. He then could inform the other people about her.
That's a little far fetched except I've noticed more lately that the well dressed or decent looking person is actually the informant who gives information to their nefarious "friends" and the friends do the dirty work, stealing. That happened to a lady I was taking care of. Nefarious people are too smart. They have too much time on their hands to think about how to do good people wrong.
