I think if they were to do something like this there would have to be a change in philosophy for how they design cards for standard and i dont see a world where they try to power down standard to a point where very few cards would make an impact in pioneer to force them to print specifically for that format
I would quit constructed magic all together, if they do it to pioneer then no format is safe. Pioneer was created in part to soften the blow from them destroying modern.
On the one hand, I strongly believe that cards like tarmogoyf, bloodbraid elf, and cryptic command are iconic and should be playable somewhere On the other hand, I wouldn't want to see pioneer go through a similar situation as modern, where the card pool in modern starts at 2003 and forward but only cards printed in the last 5 years are strong enough to matter.
I can see that. Thats particularly why i like what they are doing now by printing some cards in standard that are just okay but have some competitive pedigree behind them and maybe in the future find a way to mass reprint format staples
They were already overplayed, why not play other/new cards??? Tarmogoyf by itself made most homebrew decks unviable in early Modern, because it outstatted every creature up to 4-5 drops.
Absolutely not. I value pioneer being only fed by standard. If you want modern or pauper, play those. I do. These formats being different is the entire point of having formats. Pioneer can feel slow to change. That's the point. Diversify if pioneer is getting old for you. Edit: A masters set to reprint expensive cards would be nice. I would be ok with a handful of choice out of format reprints, but likely no new cards, wotc can't help themselves they'll make the new cards insane and mythic rarity and the boxes would be 200 plus. I also think waiting until after foundations to understand where they are going with the power floor of standard is a good idea.
@@Travis7060312 Probably a ton of downshifts and special treatments. Probably some new uncommon legends for pauper commander, since pauper commander let's you use an uncommon as commander.
I think a pioneer masters set would be fine, or do more bonus sheets and include some choice pioneer reprints. While Thunder Junction having basically 3 bonus sheets and special guests was kinda annoying, Multiverse Legends and Enchanting Tales were great.
No to Horozon ! On paper idea sounds great, but judging from what happen to Modern it's a disaster. Lets Pioneer be a new Modern with only standard legal sets contributing to it.
This happened only because Wizards designed only a handful of good cards that replaced existing archetypes instead of helping them. Right now the only difference between Modern and Legacy is a handful of banned and unavailable lands, few banned non-land cards, FOW and Brainstorm, initiative cards from supplemental product. I am not a big fan of Limited formats and it is unfortunate that these premium priced products are also filled with cards that are unplayable outside of sealed/draft.
Would a pioneer masters be legal in modern? If so we are talking potentially "2" modern horizons sets, the cards are higher than standard level cards, so idk, it may benefit pioneer, but kill modern
Im sure wotc wouldn’t charge less than 10$ a pack, but i think there are cards that just need to be reprinted just so we have more copies available. I think maybe slightly more than a reagular standard booster but nowhere near a typical MH set or masters set
If this ever happens I'm quitting the format 😂 it's the reason I prefer it over modern: no direct to pioneer cards

That sounds like a disaster of an idea
Now Pioneer Masters I can absolutely get behind

what would pauper horizons look like haha

@@Travis7060312It would look like MH3 with a card so busted it needs to be banned before it even releases

Is pioneer really expensive enough to make paying $10+ for a masters set worth it? Most decks are between $200 - $400 dollars.

Absolutely not. If wizards ruins one more format I am done with this game altogether.
No
Noooooooooooooo
pls no :D
Im for sure in the camp of giving us reprints for chase cards over just having new cards added directly to the format
Please no.
