Just for the record, this is actually from Late Show With David Letterman, not Late Nite. Late Nite was the show that he did on NBC, but this is definitely from after he went to CBS. You can tell because of the horn section (who don't play on this song, but they're back there) and Felicia Collins (the African American guitarist playing the white Steinberger), who weren't in the house band on the NBC show. I actually remember seeing this back when it first aired. Thanks for posting it.
Anyone knows and can tell me why they would sometimes mix the guest bands with the house band like that (and sometimes not)? Here we got like 4 guitars, two basses, a drum and a half... WTF?
Kelly had only been playing guitar for a few months at this point, that's one of the reasons they're all laughing and why her playing is... interesting.
Divine Twins! amazing song. so simple, so good.
Thank you deal sis!
wicked Kims vocals are so amazing
Should have let The Breeders play on their own. They are capable.

I love that they are all laughing about the broken guitar string. Awesome
divine music.
one divine hammerrrrrrrrrrrrr
@grumpypant....... It's called creativity
Listen to their 93' mtv live version. THAT'S how you fucking play drums to this song. Put some muscle into it man!
Too many cooks in the kitchen - they should have let the breeders perform alone ....
Kelley is obviously on something, she's stumbling around like a fool.

For some reason that was the policy on Letterman's show in the early 1990s. Made no sense to me then; still doesn't.

I swear The Breeders are playing a half step down and a fraction of a second slower than the house band…
Messed up or not, or how far they were on the decline, to have your song butchered by the Paul Schafer band is pretty awesome.
