Appreciate your commentary at the end. I can well identify with people. ENJOYABLE fishing and hunting is getting AWAY from people. Which is tough to do. So I settle for second best. I watch videos like YOURS in the total privacy of my house.
Nice videos, thanks for posting. It's been 40 years since i hunted a stone. Things have changed. I congratulate you for working so hard. I was lucky to take a 40 inch ram and on a couple other successful ram hunts with others. I would never have tried this with a bow. You guys deserve a ram far more than I did. Cheers from Yukon. Btw I took my ram on the last day of the season, think Oct 20. There was 6 inches of snow. Later may be better. Guessing your not in the Rockies
Once again you have given us another great adventure! I really appreciate your storytelling and the fact that you “keep it real” with your followers. You are one of the few that I look forward to watching. Thanks for your content and good luck for the rest of you 2023 season!🤙🏼
Thanks for sharing the good and bad parts of your sheep hunt. I really appreciate all the time and effort you put in to share your adventure with us. Good luck on your next hunt!!
Another good hunt video I really appreciate the "no bullshit " recap of your hunts and the brutal honesty of true hunting. Thanks again for your content and sharing your adventure with all of us.
Awesome film man! Really liked your point there about opportunity and making most of the one that is presented to you in that moment. Will definitely have that in the back of my mind during this coming elk season.
The wrap up analysis was spot on considering the two halves of a hunt and maximizing opportunities. I know I often want to let the hunt come to me while the real predators amongst us pounce and make something happen when the situation is close enough they can create success. Thanks for the content and the thoughtful process!
Another great film. I say congrats because it was your best sheep hunt yet. I like how you reflect on the emotions and can work Thru it. I know I gave in/ gave up on a backcountry elk hunt and the whole ride home from Wyoming…I thought I should have stayed in it for that last 1.5 days. I listened to guys get into a herd my last day less than a mile away I’m guessing as I sat there about 1500 feet below them thinking dammit as the sun was fading out.
This might be my favourite film of yours so far. I enjoy your hunt films probably more than any other hunting content out there and your sheep hunting films are definitely the ones I look forward to the most. I’m definitely biased because Stone’s sheep and Stone’s sheep country are my favourite quarry and setting… but yeah, fantastic stuff! Finding that balance between the presence of game and minimal pressure is definitely the trick. That country you were in is super cool… definitely prime sheep habitat. Looking forward to your coming hunts! All the best as the season continues 🤙🏻
Sweet film mate- makes me think to not take the shit weather on my own hunts in New Zealand to heart and persevere keeping the spirits high. Some nice looking sheep in the shots too! Someday I must get over there and have a crack.
I don't know if you have heard about this or not but i have an older hunting guide friend that talked about hitting 2 rocks together to bring sheep to him. This especially worked in the seep rut. It is supposed to imitate the horns hitting each other.
Another great video man!! Definitely some kick ass cinematography, pretty awesome you were able to get in on a bunch and see some nice rams, hopefully next year you can find the nice balance between people and sheep, and down a ram👌
Hi Jay, Excellent job on this one mate. You can't win them all but still would've been awesome hunting in that country. I did notice on some camera angles that the top of your backpack frame looked really low like in line with your neck. Is that normal because the top of my k4 frame is in line with my ears. Thats with it unloaded though. Just curious if I have made an error with my newly purchased k4 pack. Thanks mate and keep up the great work
Three very different shelters. Niak is bombproof. Telos offers a good blend of durability and weight. Owyhee is the ultimate lightweight, roomy shelter. I have reviews on all three on my channel.
@@MindfulHunter I've listened to the reviews over the past couple years. Thanks for putting them together. If you had to pick one for August sheep, which one would you go with?
Enjoyed watching all that goes into these types of hunts, the good, bad and sometimes ugly. It’s not always the kill that makes a great video. For me I enjoyed your journey and the kill would have just been the bonus.
“How many people get to do this?” I say that to myself all the time, even on scouting trips and shed hunts. How many people get to do this? How many people wish they could be outside, but can’t physically do it. How many are to “busy” with work.
It's a fair point man. And something I struggle with every time I make one of these films. I try to be as respectful as I can to the places where I film.
I think you're confusing rifle hunting with bow hunting. The people that you bitched about that approached you are successful sheep hunters in that saddle, unlike yourself. Next time you're up North here, try being polite and respectful to those you come across, maybe you'll have more success. Best wishes on your next hunt from here in Northern B.C.❤️
I don’t disagree that I should not have lost my temper with those two dudes but I ran into 8 other hunters on that trip and had great, helpful conversations with all of them. I still see no excuse to walk up the front of a hill in broad daylight to talk to two other hunters who are clearly sitting on sheep less than 100 yards away. That’s just a ridiculous thing to do no matter what weapon you are carrying. They were camped less than 1km from my tent. Why not just come over for a chat that evening?
Best hunt narrator in the game. Thank you for filming.
My pleasure!

I feel the same way about NZ lol
Some days, you make it very difficult to focus on work, Jay! LOL Queued up to watch this evening.....really looking forward to it!

Nice work mate, love ya work keep it up
Thanks bro!

I could see that working. Similar to rattling antlers for deer.
My buddy also recommend that if the call of ram didn't come by the grab bigger rocks for a different tone. It's a nugget that I think could work.
Sorry, class of ram
great film Jay ! love your content

Finally some bow hunting sheep content
You can count on much more after this. One of the coolest hunts of my life!

I have a pretty long torso. Ears are better than shoulders. You want between a 30 and 45 degree angle on your load lifters.
looks like you took a hilleberg Niak a few years ago. How would you rank it compared to the Sea to summit and the argali? thanks.

@@matthewpeschke depends on your risk tolerance and experience. Niak is the safest bet.
@@MindfulHunter I'd lean that way as well. Thanks again.

What 360 camera are you using?
The X3.
sheep hunting is what led me to you. Let's fn go!

I say that to myself all the time, even on scouting trips and shed hunts. How many people get to do this? How many people wish they could be outside, but can’t physically do it. How many are to “busy” with work.
💯gotta remind myself to be grateful.
Good effort! It's cool to see you learn from your successes in each hunt. Can't wait to see you celebrate your first sheep kill!
You and me both!
Any sheep hunt is better than no sheep hunt. Why the bow though? Was it a bow only area? As for people, always the challenge with any hike in hunt.
I prefer bow hunting to rifle hunting.
Enjoyed the film. Hopefully with a full stomach and sleep in your own bed, the memories turn sweeter than when staring at sleet and pressure.
It's always enjoyable when you're looking back on it! :)
Type 2 fun
Putting a video on the internet of this area probably won’t help the hunting pressure you spoke of. Just my 2 cents
It's a fair point man. And something I struggle with every time I make one of these films. I try to be as respectful as I can to the places where I film.
I guarantee there will be even more people in there next time you go and it’s already a gongshow in there
