HOW could Kate in 1978 have somehow, subconsciously understood what it takes to do a PERFECT rendition of 'Wuthering Heights'? It's because she's an ARTIST. She knows herself. She somehow understands us. She gets in between. Because she trusts us. I guess I'll never really understand the Strange Phenomenon called Kate Bush. But I'll gladly accept the love she offered so generously in her work.
For those of you that haven't read it, in the book Wuthering Heights Cathy is haunting Heathcliff and that is the perspective the song is written in, Kate as a ghost of Cathy, hence her ghostly movements and wide eyes! "Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy I've come home. I'm so cold. Let me in your window" Wuthering Heights was the estate owned by Cathy's family. Heathcliff ended up living in it towards the end.
My very first girlfriend was obsessed by this song ..and I soon became so, too. Amazing, goosebump orchestration. Many happy memories. Where are you now Miriam M ?
