20:09 Hey Matt I know in the grand scheme of things this really isn’t a priority to do but that cotton picker would sure like nice with a Griggs Farm logo high atop each side of the picker! Congratulations on the big upgrade!
Matt my hat's off to my friend Steven moon at Delta Spindle who done your pro-16 row units those row units are cleaning those stalks the good lord truly blessed u 🙏 my friend um glad u got one of our previous John deere 7760's
Man what some cotton now that you have that spreader buggy on your cotton crops after you pick the cotton broadcaster cover crop didn’t get you a cotton stalk chopper and it’ll disturb the ground just enough to plant your cover crop. That’s what we do around here anyways.
Excellent. Great to see all is going well. I cannot imagine - with yields that good - how you could have managed labor-wise with the module picker! Right place - right time - prepared for success!
Hey Matt I remember seeing your family on the history show American farm. Love that your new cotton picker is working out for you. quick question, on the show they put square bales into the trucks and there are different trailers depending on the size and shape of the bales so what has changed in terms of getting the cotton to the gin?
U mean u and Kelly not getting any younger lol u said older but we know what u meant lol I'm glad y'all finally got a roller picker save alot of time and labor hopefully that will make y'all alot of money for the next few years
Max lift for a t7 is 11k and that’s if the weight is over the balls when that weight is further back it lowers the capacity Just have her slide her seat forward it could help 😂
Happy for you. If I was in the gin business and you were ginning with me I would be very elated. This is what every farmer and ginger likes to hear. Hope all you Cotten crop does this well. Great video . Congratulations
Happy to see the picker working so well. Good cotton and good job picking it clean. Love the story of the auction, sounds like a state of shock overcame you being winning bidder. Look for more cotton videos soon.
Kelly, I am so proud for your success with all the harvest especially the cotton harvest with 7770 ! Really fun to hear the excitement in your voice ! Best Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving! Jeff Myers Somerville Tennessee
Congratulations to you Matt and your family . You’re not dreaming at all , that’s one good looking cotton field there buddy !! I haven’t heard anything from my buddy’s around the house or Tatumville area . How ever my brother that’s one of the best looking cotton fields I’ve ever seen and full of cotton !!! I’m so happy to see that after last year’s crop . What you said is so true , patience pays off and it’s always unsuspected when it dose . New picker , and one of the best crops ever , it came from above brother , your a west Tn boy , we don’t quit , lol . Won’t be long I’ll be home Christmas and in the bottoms shooting them up , and asking my family hay are you guys watching Matt on UA-cam . lol . Congratulations Matt “” your hard work lives in us that no longer get to live the farm life . Keep picking away and smiling ! Micheal Prater , another west Tn boy .
Your second guy ive seen on video doing cotton . They also run a JD picker but a CaseIHC combine. Whats reasoning behind that. As i stated earlier lnow nothing about cotten harvest. Have hauled the seed for feed very light
We’re color blind and don’t care what the name of the manufacturer is. We choose equipment based on what we think the best model is that fits in our budget. And besides CaseIH doesn’t even make a picker anymore. But when they did, it paled in comparison to JD
Ive been with yall for a while and seing three of you comfortably get the job done beats the heck out of seeing 5 or 6 running around stressing losing fingers and struggling for sure!
Hey Matt, I just started watching last year because I was curious about cotton. From what I remembered from last year to what your new machine is doing this unit is really picking clean. Those of us who continue to watch feel the same concerns and fears as you. I'm so pleased this machine is doing it's job. Thank God!
Glad you are enjoying it, you deserve it and it's not everyday/year that you catch the rains and have a good year all around... Especially growing dry land crops. Congrats to you and Kelly and Andy.
Guess you have heard that it is no satisfying a woman. Congratulations on your picker. Great investment. You should be able to pick your 550 acres in a lot less time than your old 9986.
Congratulations! I do have a question sir, is there a reason why you and folks like the crop critic don’t run stripper balers with larger heads? Is it just the variety you grow or the yield difference at the gin?
Cotton strippers are designed to pick short, lower yielding cotton. They would be pretty slower in our taller high yielding cotton. Also a stopper is indiscriminate in what it harvests. It strips everything off the plant, including trash, so the cotton has a lower quality and grade
That's where he did the test run for the first module days prior, to make sure everything worked correctly. He explained how some boles emerged afterwards, so it did look like they'd brush hogged down good cotton.
Congratulations, great decision on the new equipment, Kelly has to be jumping up & down , just wonderful ! Matt you owe Kelly a date night very nice steak dinner / crab legs , king crab , enjoy & have fun , "marshmallow on" Kelly , always stay safe !
I know you know this, but make sure you stage those modules on higher ground so they don’t get too soaked if it rains before the gin can get to them. Great video! Beautiful cotton!
So what you’re sayin is the cotton acres are increasing next year? Welcome to the round bale cotton club. When you have 40-inch rows of drip irrigated cotton and you’ve pixed the fire out of it and still can’t tell where the rows are,,,, and you’re monitor is saying over 2000lbs,,,, that exciting.
So If you plant a 100 acres of both corn and cotton. . .then you harvest those 200 acres. What Would your gross and net revenue on a 100 acres of corn? And and what would your gross and net revenue be on a hundred acres of cotton. I look at your moving pictures and don't understand why you wouldn't just focus on the crop that constantly creates the most money. On the outside that cotton seems like a whole lot more rigamarole involved
It's good to diversify so all of your eggs aren't in one basket. He also is no till, different crops use and return certain nutrients and I believe cotton is a tap root plant so it can fracture any hard pan that has developed from the other crops.
At the beginning of the year, we have no idea what crop will produce the most revenue. We have no idea what the weather will do or the market prices. What yields the most revenue this year, might lose money next year. So we spread our risk over multiple crops so we have a greater chance of ensuring we make a profit. Plus it spreads the workload over more time due to crops being ready at different times
Well sir my grandmother did. She would tell stories about picking in a sack for so much a pound. And caught her brother adding a small rock once to his sack. She said the open bolls were pretty when they opened together. Back before defoliant.
Love that time lapse of the boll opening.....
So Very Happy for Y'all
Congrats!!
Beautiful, heavy cotton---a great sight to see and hear.
Um happy for you
20:09 Hey Matt I know in the grand scheme of things this really isn’t a priority to do but that cotton picker would sure like nice with a Griggs Farm logo high atop each side of the picker! Congratulations on the big upgrade!
Maybe for next year since it’ll be around a while
Go ahead and set it full size. It saves on wrap. Wrap is a big expense. We run CS690 best move we’ve ever done. Enjoy it
Matt my hat's off to my friend Steven moon at Delta Spindle who done your pro-16 row units those row units are cleaning those stalks the good lord truly blessed u 🙏 my friend um glad u got one of our previous John deere 7760's
Helo from israel nice job😊
Thanks. Been praying for yall over there
Happy for your new machine. A Beautiful Beautiful field of Cotton. Have a safe harvest
This machine looks like it is doing better job ,than the old one.
That cotton field was picked cleaner than I’ve ever seen.
I would bet that Kelly will get very good at using that bale mover........
Congratulations on the new picker. Great to Hear the joy/excitement in your voice. Always a good day when things go right
Even though I no longer grow cotton it is my first crop and i know it is your s
You are so right in giving God all the credit!
Amen and amen...PTL.
Amen
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amen so good to see you giving the glory where it should go. God bless and keep working hard. God is good.
Man what some cotton now that you have that spreader buggy on your cotton crops after you pick the cotton broadcaster cover crop didn’t get you a cotton stalk chopper and it’ll disturb the ground just enough to plant your cover crop. That’s what we do around here anyways.
Keep some baby powder on them rollers and you will never have any problems with that wrap
We carried a jug of talc around and would rub the rollers down every other roll
That will definitely help.
Amen brother! Happy for all of you! Glad you got your new picker and that harvest is going good!
Glad you can have it easier now Kellie no more injuries hope you have a good season cheers from Bundaberg Australia
Excellent. Great to see all is going well. I cannot imagine - with yields that good - how you could have managed labor-wise with the module picker! Right place - right time - prepared for success!
It would’ve been a lot slower with the old module builders
Hey Matt I remember seeing your family on the history show American farm. Love that your new cotton picker is working out for you. quick question, on the show they put square bales into the trucks and there are different trailers depending on the size and shape of the bales so what has changed in terms of getting the cotton to the gin?
God is Good!!!
I know basically nothing about cotton but that looks like the cleanest picked field I’ve ever seen.
My owners manual says 15K. But yeah the further back it is makes a huge difference
Happy for you. If I was in the gin business and you were ginning with me I would be very elated. This is what every farmer and ginger likes to hear. Hope all you Cotten crop does this well. Great video . Congratulations
Love it for you and for us going through it with you 👍
How many hours on that machine Matt?
So glad it's all working
That’s a BONUS ROW, not a row of shame. Glad to see things running well so.
Matt slept in dog house a day or two after that. Lol😂
Happy to see the picker working so well. Good cotton and good job picking it clean. Love the story of the auction, sounds like a state of shock overcame you being winning bidder. Look for more cotton videos soon.
Proud for you all Matt
A great video. So happy for you.😊
Happy to see things working great for ya'll. Congrats!
(You did miss, however, several golden opportunities to drop a few references to "High Cotton.)
It wasn’t high…we did a good job for once with plant growth regulators. 😂
Glad to see you're off to an awesome harvest this year
Cotton cotton and more cotton fantastic video Congratulations on the picker thank you for your hard work 👍🏻👏👏😉👍🏻🙋♂️
Bale picking won't smash your fingers.
Matt it's really nice to hear how happy you are. Thoughts and prayers Kelly.
God Bless!
That's beautiful from the drone 🎉

Great year for Griggs farms all hard work paid off.Good crops all around.Long time viewer.Good videos
That’s some of the prettiest cotton I’ve even seen.
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always!!
Hey Matt do you want to sell your cotton wagons. The one that hooked behind the tractor
Congratulations to you Matt and your family . You’re not dreaming at all , that’s one good looking cotton field there buddy !! I have been waiting for this video. So happy that it working out great. So much less stress and equipment needed. Congratulations well deserved
Great video the cotton looks really good God bless you and your family
Down with synthetics, long live cotton!
Really happy for you with the picker and getting such great yields!! Happy Thanksgiving.
Now Kelly, you can take a vacation during cotton season
I am going out to buy some cotton! 🤘
Proud the LORD blessed y’all!!
6000 lbs to a bale thats unreal a bale of hay usually 1800 to 2000lbs. I know little about cotton harvesting
As light as ctton is would think the bales would be like straw bales for weight.
Your second guy ive seen on video doing cotton . They also run a JD picker but a CaseIHC combine. Whats reasoning behind that. As i stated earlier lnow nothing about cotten harvest. Have hauled the seed for feed very light
These rolls are a lot bigger than a 5x6 bale of hay. Also it’s 60% seed too so that adds a lot
We’re color blind and don’t care what the name of the manufacturer is. We choose equipment based on what we think the best model is that fits in our budget. And besides CaseIH doesn’t even make a picker anymore. But when they did, it paled in comparison to JD
@@griggsfarmsllc having hauled the seed to feedlots and feed mills many dairies its hard to get enough weight on. The hulled seed is better to handle
That American flag is flying great and looks fabulous
Hey matt how much more efficient would you say the 7760 has made you compared to the basket picker.
It can easily pick another 25% more per day IF it doesn’t break down
Ive been with yall for a while and seing three of you comfortably get the job done beats the heck out of seeing 5 or 6 running around stressing losing fingers and struggling for sure!

Congratulations 🎊 I pray the rest of the harvist is as good 👍
Congratulations and those drone shots where amazing .
Glad you are enjoying it, you deserve it and it's not everyday/year that you catch the rains and have a good year all around... Especially growing dry land crops. Congrats to you and Kelly and Andy.
Hi Matt just seen you and Kelly in Farm Journal . Keep up the good work. We Rais beef in southwestern PA
Guess you have heard that it is no satisfying a woman. Congratulations on your picker. Great investment. You should be able to pick your 550 acres in a lot less time than your old 9986.
Fantastic cotton patch. The drone shots really show the beauty of a clean 3+ bale crop. And congratulations on an excellent picker purchase.
Congratulations! I do have a question sir, is there a reason why you and folks like the crop critic don’t run stripper balers with larger heads? Is it just the variety you grow or the yield difference at the gin?

Happy to see your excitement over your new venture and how things worked out for you and your family
What's the idea of brush hogging the cotton at the beginning.
That's where he did the test run for the first module days prior, to make sure everything worked correctly.
He explained how some boles emerged afterwards, so it did look like they'd brush hogged down good cotton.
They actually bush hog after it’s picked. They had picked that one round as a test a few days previous.
We bush hogg the stalks to set modules down on so the trucks can pick them up. Then bush Hogg behind the picking so we can plant wheat next.
Thanks Kelly, really enjoy watching you guys. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Hi Matt what is the average cotton bales weight? I enjoy your content and videos take care bud.
A bale of cotton is 490 lbs of lint. A round module of cotton is around 4200 lbs of seed cotton
Congratulations, great decision on the new equipment, Kelly has to be jumping up & down , just wonderful ! Matt you owe Kelly a date night very nice steak dinner / crab legs , king crab , enjoy & have fun , "marshmallow on" Kelly , always stay safe !

Acres will remain about the same. I couldn’t imagine 4+ bale cotton
How many modules did you make ?
Forty something in that field
I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT, BUT I NORMALLY TUNE OUT WHEN RELIGON COMES INTO IT, BUT WITH YOU, I STAY TUNED!!
what kind of cotton?
looks nice !
Phytogen 360W3FE
3 bale pluse

Oi ❤️🇧🇷🚜
Save your money, you won't be able to work like that when you're 90 like me.
Anybody that had to pick by hand never said it was pretty. Modern machinery changed the looks greatly. Lol
Well sir my grandmother did. She would tell stories about picking in a sack for so much a pound. And caught her brother adding a small rock once to his sack. She said the open bolls were pretty when they opened together. Back before defoliant.
