The Emissary of Arceus - Hisuian Trainer FOR SMASH! (Challenger Concept #55)

- Pokemon Legends: Arceus was a special title for a lot of reasons. From its unique gameplay loop to the changes it made to the Pokemon series' staple mechanics, it was a game that came out at the perfect time for a lot of people that were starting to lose faith in the series, thanks in part to the drop in quality in recent years. While many would end up loving Arceus and wanting future titles to take after its changes to the formula, it seems its fate is destined to be the forgotten gem of a generation that most came to hate...but as long as one person remembers, it doesn't have to be forgotten.
That's why, today, we're covering a potential concept for the game's titular main characters, along with a full team of Pokemon that will represent the ancient title they come from. Make way for the Hisuian Trainer!
Wyrdeer: Summoning Wyrdeer, the Trainer will order it forward
as it performs its signature attack, Psyshield Bash,
charging through all opponents in its path and
dealing solid damage in the process. This move
will sport a hit of super armor, allowing it to
trade effectively, all while covering a sizeable
horizontal range, but if hit by an attack that
breaks through the armor, Wyrdeer will
immediately return to his Pokeball.
Hisuian Braviary: A two part recovery option that will call upon Hisuian
Braviary, who will fly up into the air before diving
back down towards the stage. Hitting Braviary
during this attack will force him back into his ball
early, but this will not put the player into a
helpless state. This can potentially lead to a
stun lock if used against an opponent that
excels at edgeguarding, so this should be
used in tandem with Wyrdeer.

This moveset was definitely not what I expected when I first saw it… But I ended up falling in love with it! Definitely one of your best character designs yet!
I now see why this moveset took so long. This, together with the Heihachi moveset, may be one of your most complex movesets ever put out on UA-cam.
And yet I feel this strikes the right balance between "Complex but not too much" and "Too complicated" in a way I thought it wouldn't be possible for a trainer without making a mess.
You literally surprised me with this and, even if I would not play such a complex character (because I'm a dum dum) I still recognize the sweat and blood that went into this, and I honestly think this is one of the best movesets ever put out on UA-cam (even though I could say that for a lot of your videos).
Great job man! You are a king of Smash Bros. moveset design, and you demonstrated that to me time and time again. ;)
Why do I feel like this concept could work so well for a Yugi moveset?
To be honest, I've thought about the use of PLA's Trainer in Smash because of how unique they could be as well for a while, and this honestly exceeds what I thought about doing for them.
Only thing I feel would be very unlikely is how you have it setup for them to switch their Pokemon, knowing the Smash series it would likely just be a down special lol. At that point having their signature moves somewhere in their normals or if you hadn't use Arceus in the final smash, them doing it in a triple finish like way is what I think would happen more realistically.
With colors I love the idea of them wearing different outfits, but I also kind of think that's unlikely, but another neat idea would be to use the other Galaxy Team Corps colors for Rei and Akari, seeing as it would be much more simple to do a color swap then a full on new model for a character who already has so much going on.
Survey Corps = Default for Rei and Akari
Security Corps = Red
Medical Corps = Pink
Supply Corps = Green
Agriculture Corps = Brown
Construction Corps = Purple
Their leader Kamado's colors = Black
This isn't even really criticism, this is just my thoughts on how Smash would likely handle the characters, because other wise, this is an amazing video you made, and like I said, it goes above and beyond what I thought about how the character would work. I think the only thing I would legitimately change is just them using the azure flute to summon Arceus instead of the legend plate, since the azure flute is so deeply rooted in reaching Arceus, but that's so minor a thing, it doesn't matter at all.
This is an honest to goodness favorite among all the "what if" movesets for a character in Smash for me now. Amazing work, and I hope you continue to make high quality content like this.
Given that I was just rewatching your Sub-Zero video and have been rewatching a lot of your movesets, this was some scary timing!
But also while I never got the chance to try Legends Arceus, I’m very excited to see how you tackle what’s been one of the most wide loved Pokémon games of recent years again! Also because your Trainer stuff always stands out and ends up being extremely unique which I always love!
Typhlosion: To protect his trainer
Samarot: Positioning carefully to not hurt his trainer
Decidueye: 🤯
The visual effects on the moves look amazing
Your visual effects are only getting better and better, and this episode had so many of them! The motions and impact on them are awesome and helped make every Pokemon feel distinct. Wasn't sure how sold I was on this idea at the start of the video, but you eventually won me over with the different ways you showed that the trainer could interact with their Pokemon. Even though I'm not big on Pokemon as a franchise anymore, I can appreciate the ingenuity of having the trainer be physically present in-battle. It's a fantastic way to tie this whole kit back to the mechanics of Legends Arceus.
A few nitpicks: we never get to see what the Hisuian Trainer's fighter portrait looks like in its entirety. At 8:59 you give us a glimpse of a PART of the fighter portrait, which is a good visual in its own right, but I feel that showing the what the actual damage meter with the added Pokemon health bars would look like could make the moveset more easily comprehendible/understandable. My only other concern is how cluttered the screen could become with all of the different Pokemon spawning in, especially with Ursaluna who looks to be HUGE. I suppose one would have to actually implement all this stuff and playtest it to see if that's actually an issue, but regardless, this is a fun concept and I can appreciate the time dedicated to it.
I do really like the creativity displayed in this moveset. This kind of character archetype I feel would work great for either this character or even the Astral Chain protagonist.
That said, there is one part of the moveset that bothers me: having switching the partner pokemon be tied to a shield + special button input. While yes Smash Ultimate did introduce the concept of shield specials, it is not a universal mechanic that applies to every character. Only Inkling & Steve. They also do not add any entirely new mechanic you can't access with a standard special input. In the case of Inkling, shield special is just a way to access the same ink refilling mechanic that comes naturally when the inkling is out of ink.
Switching your pokemon is an inherent mechanic to this moveset &, unless the next Smash game makes shield specials a universal mechanic (which I would love), locking the only way to access an essential mechanic of your moveset doesn't sit right with me given how Smash has always been intended to be a much more approachable fighter/party game. (I know Ryu & Terry have mechanics that require special inputs but most of their specials can be performed without them & the few that can't I give a pass on due to them being their character mechanic)
That said I wouldn't even remove the shield special input. I'd keep it. Instead what I would do is change the down special slightly to swap to the next pokemon in the lineup before performing the unique attacks like you mentioned. This is similar to the tag mechanic in Power Rangers Battle for the Grid where you can swap to your fighter while they are performing their assist attack.
This allows new players to be able to intuitively access the main mechanic while also letting more advanced players choose between performing a powerful assist attack or swapping their moveset without risking the long startup animations of the attacks.
This was your best video yet! It's so creative and cool
Since September 27th will debut the new Street Fighter 6 character, "A.K.I."; maybe think about her for a moveset video soon because I'm already in love with her
FINALLY!!!!!!
How do you decide the stats for your characters 🤔
REQUEST: can you make Poochy next, please? He would be great in Smash Bros and I'd like to see a concept from you.
Would love to see a moveset video of Jack from Ghostrunner someday
I just realized the Hisui rainer has a full team of six
I want this to be a real thing so bad. It’d actually make me pick up Smash again.
I’d love to see you do either Beat from Jet Set Radio or Neku from TWEWY in the future
I'm guessing this took awhile for you to make this video, but anyways, good video, good moveset, can't wait to see more smash moveset ideas from you FeliciaFan.
Oh my gosh, all the pictures with Typhlosion were so cute!!
How would regular Decidueye's moveset differ from Hisuian Decidueye's?
2:45 thank Arceus you pronounced its name properly
What if Walking Wake or iron Leaves were in smash?
While I like the idea I feel like it would be too much work for Nintendo to implicate. The most intricate ones we have are probably ironically enough is Pokemon Trainer.
Hey FeliciaFan, didn’t you say you were going to make a video talking about your design philosophy? What happened to that?
This was pretty interesting, I haven't played Pokémon so I can't really say much but this was still interesting, this is probably a character I'd have to actually play to see if I like them or not though.
3:29 did you say grass-flying or grass-fighting, because it's the latter
This is a great Moveset and demonstrates Smash's full potential as a Fighting Game. I would love to see a Moveset on Axel Stone, Basically there would be 2 versions of the Character, The classic SOR2 version and the SOR4. If you know anything about the Streets of Rage Series, I'd say give Axel a chance.
I would like a Poochy concept from the Yoshi series. Can you make it in the future?
Please think about Guardian from Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild in a moveset video in the future
Kamek better
Hear me out, Frank west from dead rising for smash bros
Fecto Elfilis from Kirby and the Forgotten Land would be cool to get a moveset video. Hope you include it in Patreon
He’s WORKING on one and he’s mentioned that he’s doing a video like that in one of his update videos. Just be patient and enjoy everything else he has out and is working on in the meantime, yknow?
Can your patron poll include "What If Valere and Zale from Sea of Stars game were in Smash?" moveset video
They'd work as a 2-in-1 fighter
I've actually had a similar movest in mind for the Hisuian Trainer, except you don't swap between Pokémon at all, it's all just a single moveset where you have 9 different Pokémon with you to help you fight.
I'm thinking the moveset would include these same three Pokémon for Smash Attacks, along with Starly, Shinx and Bidoof (the first Pokémon you capture in the game (Could swap them out for the first stage Sinnoh starters)) for quicker, weaker attacks. the ride Pokémon serve as the special attacks, Except for the neutral special, which would have the trainer throw a pouch that confuses opponents if they're hit by it several times in relatively quick succession.
can you do urbosa's moveset next after hisuian trainer's moveset video
Will The special moveset for Scarlet and Violet DLC be Ogrepon?
I think, to follow the traditional one, two, three stage mons the first Pokemon Trainer has... Hisuian Trainer should have Cyndaquil, Dewott, Hisuian Decidueye.
I’d rather stick with 3 fully evolved forms, as their NFE stages aren’t exclusive to Hisui/Legends Arceus + can be used for Pokémon trainers based on Johto/Unova/Alola regions
I wish to see a Kris Susie and Noel moveset
Is it possible for you to do Aloy from the Horizon games?
Rayman PLS
