- Fiona and I went and got some chickens after cleaning out the old chook pen. We brought 8 Isa Browns that were about 20 weeks old. (I got the first egg this morning after 2 weeks). Freddy loves to come for a run twice a day down to the chook pen to run around. (It is the only fenced area he can't get out off at this stage). Chance and Nevaeh are doing well with the chooks and staying on the right side of the fence. If you cannot tell Fiona and I have known each other for 60 years so we do give each other a hard time (all in good fun). We even went to the same high school, but she was 2 years behind me. So now we are just two old ladies having a blast doing things together, and we have some very different opinions on how we do things, which always makes us laugh.
Chance and Nevaeh in bed were the best. Couldn't stop smiling!

I remember blue bloomers and matching blue tunic. I wore them in the 1960s but I think I think they were designed in the 1930s😂
I recently rewatched The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and the girls' uniforms were like my navy ones (here in Scotland). The dreaded navy gym knickers! I see young girls wearing them outside nowadays (deliberately!). Lots of laughs in this video and will look forward to the chickens' adventures.

The new chickens arive and are put with the old ones, a new chickes starts "whouaaaa tok tok tok" and an old one sais "are you tokking to me?"

Crikey Chris. Your home is a proper little homestead. Love the orchard and the horses look happy in the sunshine. Kitty Towers is amazing. Their own cat hotel looks perfect. Fresh air without having to get their paws dirty. And the chucks are going to give you hours of fun and loads of eggs. Dear Chancey Boy and Nevaeh seem to be very happily settled in your bed knowing they've just got to walk through the door to get to race around the meadows. It's a wonderful home Chris and is looking amazing. Well done for bringing this all together and giving us updates 🥰🥰

Aww love watching chickens. My husband is always wanting to get chickens for the eggs. I said well you know me, we can only get them if we keep them their whole lives. Apparently they can live over a decade and obviously they couldn't produce eggs all that time. What really upset him was me saying we mightn't have too many of those (decades) left. Ha ha ha he's older than me and a man so that upset him. Some people hate the thought of death and never want to talk about it, even when it's clear its happening, not me.......
Oh everything looks good Chris. I don't think we ever got to see the GGs without full rugs on ever. I love your bed warmers, very cute. Looking like they both belong there. I'm fortunate only 1 of my dogs sleeps on my bed. She's a puppy piler and I have chronic pain so most nights I have to get up and make her move over or I can't sleep. She really doesn't appreciate it either. ha ha ha.
Hope all those trees are peaches they are delicious. Nothing like them fresh off the tree. Yeah not for jam, but Apricots make the best jam. My grand mother was the jam queen so remember those tastes and smells fondly. She had all the trees and nothing ever went to waste. She used to even dry them, apricots, a few different plumbs, apples, in the oven with the door ajar.

My mother sold all our excess fruit from our trees to the local fruit & veggie shop. It was better than us kids throwing them at each other. Also your girls might appreciate a rooster for protection and it increases egg production, well my girls laid twice a day and we did have a rooster. My friends don't have roosters, and their girls are laying once daily.

I remember wearing blue rompers for PT and I live in the States(back in the 50s-60s). Must have been a worldwide requirement.😆 My cat Alice is also timid like Prickles. She hides when any workmen come over.
I hated those blue onesies! I grew up in NY, and My year, oh, 1975, they finally allowed us to wears sweats instead.

You could maybe get Prickles a couple of friends to help with all the housework and keep company on cold lonely nights.

Love the chickens, great to see the horses again. I think it is the first time I have seen Vey have a lazy morning. Chance on the other hand is the poster pup for chilling out. Nice knowing everyone is home and together again!

No, unfortunately I had to leave it behind. But do have a couple of cast iron bathtubs here and will be on the lookout for another one. I have the black one here with us, so she will have choices.

Chris, are you using a camera harness for your phone? A chest harness or a head harness? I see that you're hands free putting on the pen lock.
Chris, do you have to snake proof the chicken pen?
No, the pen is snake proof, but the fenced area is just chicken wire. I do have some Sulphur on order to spread around. Looking into other options also. (maybe Guinea Fowl and some Chinese Geese for the orchard). Have to just wait and see what the best options are.
@@nevaehwilson6062 Good! The Farm and another channel that I follow out of NSW have already seen multiple red-bellies on their property as spring rolls in.
@@nevaehwilson6062my dogs didn’t like the sound that the Guinea fowl made and killed them . I won’t recommend getting them.
Chris, what do you put on Chancey for his allergies? There’s a local guy with another cutie, chooch, who’s trying to avoid apoquel.
Besides the no grain diet and use Maleseb shampoo when bathing, I have from the vet Flamazine cream (I have probably used half of it in 18 months) and some Iramine tablets for break outs, (of which I have only used 8 tablets in 18 months). I do keep him out of the sun also as he is a white dog.
@@nevaehwilson6062 I saw an old picture of chance when he first came to the farm. The change and improvement is dramatic. Even his scars are beginning to fade.
