Just did this, totally worked. Will be the second latch mechanism I’ve replaced in 2 weeks. 1 broke, fixed it. 5 days later the second one broke
same thing happened to me. Replaced 3 out of 4 door latch assembly with only 52k miles..

Dude. You're a legend. I have a 2016 Tucson in Australia and I was just out with the missus and my newborn twins and this happened. I had to load one of the girls in the car through the rear window.
Did your trick once I got home and it works again.
If it fails again I can get a door lock actuator and use the trick again to get it open.

Thank you very much for the video. I followed the instructions and the technique worked perfectly. Now I can get the door panel off and DIY adjust or replace the latch mechanism. The basic warranty is 5 yrs/ 60K miles, so ours is out of warranty by a year. There are literally hundreds of posts out there about Hyundai Tucson door locks failing to unlock.

My kia sportage 2016 had exact same issue where rear left hand side door wouldn't open from inside or outside. I could hear the latch and actuator clicking but had no luck opening it.
so I suspected it might have jammed due to dust and since we drive around dirt road a lot.
YOU SOLVED MY PROBLEM, and I was able to open the door using exact same technique and then from there it was downhill. I got the outside handle bar out and gave a good lubrication and also sprayed inside the door lock mechanism.
And VOLA. my door is as good as new.

Thank you so much. My door did not open after the door was closed on a seatbelt. For viewer in formation, trust the video and push firmly. I had my window up because I am not sure what is behind the cable and definitely don't want to bust a window.

Great tip! Wish it would work for me. The door that is stuck has child locks on, and the lock switch won't come to the unlock position.
Not sure how oim going to.open the door without destroying the door panel.
The small red handle screw driver will be known from this point forward as the “ MacGyver screw driver”. Because you use it for everything. 😆

Ours has given up the ghost completely now, but when it first started to play up i did manage to open it from outside while holding the handle up and tapping the door with my other hand, also used a neodymium magnet near the outer handle while pulling the handle and that worked for a while as it must be pulling on the metal internals. Just thought id add this as a few seem to be damaging the handles, will need to mod or replace the unit though and even though there is a 10 year warranty on a hyundai pdf for this common problem our uk 2017 tucson magically doesnt get the free fix!!!

My 2017 is having this issue. The Hyundai dealership told me even though it’s under warranty I still have to pay the hundred bucks to get it checked and I’m too cheap lol guess I’ll just keep a screwdriver in the car
Same thing happening with our 2017..what a crock of shit..the engine went in it too after a year..thankfully they covered it but first accused me of not getting my oil change they wanted the receipts for the oil change to prove it.. I initially asked them did they find metal in the oil pan they said no..after I gave them all the receipts they magically found some in the oil pan.. this car is full of flaws.. the ignition coil went twice on it..said it wasn’t under warranty.. this car is a disaster

Is it possible to add the years of Hyundai vehicles that are impacted by this? I know on some of the newer vehicles people have had difficulties with the handles that you can touch on the outside to lock and unlock. It's just a learning curve for some people though. I honestly though this video was about that until I watched and found out it was for different models/years.

@@hyundaihowto ok so what i did is i remove plastic of the door from inside, enough so i can put my hand inside and disconnect the cables so i can pull them and open the door

Its not going to work with the safety on. I haven't figured it out yet. If i do ill post a video.

I did it and it didn’t work. I found the cable and pushed it in. I can feel the cable moving but the door still won’t open. I’m not doubting anyone but in my situation it didn’t work.
What cable you talking about because I don’t see what your showing before you open the door, only that you had your flashlight pointing at the door handle 😒
If hold the handle out and look behind it there is the cable. When pushing the cable wiggle door handle open the close.

Mine doesnt open lol 2017 kia sportage suck lol. This door has been locked and cannot be accessed from outside or inside. It locks and unlocks yet still cannot be accessed. Its been like this forever😂

hello, how to open the door when it is blocked inside and outside but with the child safety activated ?
I have never had this problem. so i don't how to solve it without destroying the door at this point. Sorry. If it ever happens to me i will post a video showing how I did it.
Or just simply grease the doors by injecting oil into it

I check around the shop and no one has run into this problem. It might come down to braking the outside handle.

All that is good and shit im talking the door being lock with the windows close goddammit,battery dead and the door is not unlocking manually when i turn the fucking key.
