Jon Boat Pedestal Seat Install on Hatch Lid {Jon Boat To Bass Boat Conversion} Lowe 1448
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- This video is all about installing my pedestal seat onto the hatch lid of my jon boat. I spent allot of time researching this. I really wanted to make sure I knew how to reinforce the lid to be able to handle all the pressure of having a seat attached to it. We decided to go with combination of wood and aluminum to create an extremely solid base. In the end it worked out perfectly and still works like new after 7 months of use. Attwood, Seasense, Swivel-Ez and Tempress products were installed. We're very excited about 2021 as we continue to grow the channel with the help and support from all of you. THANK YOU!!!! Stay tuned for more great content. Happy New Year and be safe out there!!!

Gads! I would have never thought of "shaving" the carpet. Excellent idea. Thank-you.
👍🏾🤙🏾
I just dropped $52K on a new Harris Tritoon w/ Mercury 150 and I find myself missing my bass boats I’ve had (mostly the smaller Jon Boats).
You can take them anywhere without a ton of stress.
Your boat looks so great. I’m a lil jelly! Lol
I hear you man but congrats on your new boat. Sounds awesome.
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Great video! Looks awesome. I love that you used an electric shaver to trim down the carpet. I would have never thought of that.
I appreciate your advice and it's awesome to see your son assisting you. My dad sharing his time with me like that had a big impact in my life.
Thanks man. He growing up really liking it all. Boats and fishing. Some day it'll all be his anyway lol.
Great vid. Very thorough. Loved the 7 month update to see how your engineering worked. Just bought a 14’ aluminum boat from academy and am upgrading it so the boys have a fishing rig. This is exactly what I was looking for. I’ll check out your others. Looks like you do quality work. Thanks again.
Cool man. Thanks for watching. Congrats on the new boat and good luck with your build.
Buddy, your mods look like factory installs! Thank you.
Thanks Steve. I try.
Excellent! Going to do mine just like yours. Fantastic job.
Excellent video. You did a fantastic job. Couldn't imagine an manucacturer doing any better. I have one question about the ped mount. Is the hole that the shaft sits down in open all the way through or is it water tight? I'm thinking about mounting a pedestal base on a hatch over a "semi dry" storage area and don't want to have a open hole for water to get through. Thanks.
I believe it goes all the way through but speaking from experience I've never notice significant water from that hole.
Great video, nicely done! When you’re using the seat, do you like having the foot pedal recessed? I just added a seat and I’m debating whether to keep mine recessed or not.
@@instaphippsyfishing 100% yes
Freaking outstanding! Very well explained and demonstrated :)))
Thanks Ronnie.
Well done and well thought out. I like how your son joined you for some of the build.
Thanks. He loves hanging out in the boat helping wherever he can.
Thanks for the info, I'll need this in a few months!
Cheers
Love it guys! 👍👍
Thanks man!!! 👍🏾🤙🏾
Great video
I like the clipper shaving idea.
Ha ha 🤙🏾👍🏾
Nice Video!
Thanks
Somewhere I heard the new treated wood does not cause issues with Aluminum?? Was looking for wood for trailer bunks
Thanks for posting where you bought all that stuff. Very helpfull.
I am rebuilding my job boat and already knew I would have this issue. Now I know what I’m going to do. Great video.
Thanks.
Not in a thousand years would I have thought to shave the carpet! I take my hat off to you! It's obvious throughout all your videos you really thought through the process, with great results. I'm in the planning stages of a build on a 1989 Grumman Pan Fish I and use a lot of your tips in my build. Maybe some day we'll meet up on one of the electric only lakes in our area. Caught my best Maryland large mouth years ago at Seneca. Stay well and always appreciate your videos..............
Awesome to hear about your build. Glad to hear our vids has helped. My PB is at Seneca Lake also. 😃 Be sure to say hi if you ever see us out there or anywhere else in the DMV. Be safe!!!
Really excellent video/presentation, indeed! Highly informative and dare I say, you are a natural presenter. Working on restoring our old family '76 Glastron open-bow runabout where I want to install a pedestal seat and your insight and design planning really has helped me "jump start" my project - a big sincere "thank you" from California!
Awe man appreciate the kind words. Just trying to helps others out there in the community. Good luck and have fun with your build. 🤙🏾👍🏾
You are a true craftsman and an excellent videographer! I have watched a lot of your videos and I was wondering if you ever provide an estimate of what you have spent on this particular boat? What ever it is, it was totally worth it to have a totally custom boat to your needs.
Thanks man. This build cost around $4k plus motors and fish finders.
Following along for ideas to mod my 15ft DuraCraft Jon boat. I've seen most of the videos but haven't seen or heard mention of gas tank location and how to vent it. Great stuff so far and I'm stockpiling aluminum now...Thanks
Thanks. The gas tank is kept in the right hatch at the rear of the boat. I have a 3 gallon tank back there. The rear deck is vented at the transom location where the motor is. In considering adding additional vents but haven't done it yet. I recently started a new build where the rear deck with have an awesome 3 track dry hatch that will have 3 to 4" vents. Stay tuned.
Wow. I was getting ready to buy a butt seat for my 1448 today. And bam. You posted this video. I appreciate all the information that you provide as you are doing you modifications.
Excellent 🤙🏾👍🏾
Awesome stuff! I'm thinking about doing the same, including a similar seat and was initially thinking I might need to run the aluminum post all the way down to the base floor in some fashion for added stability. But if your approach is working well, I might just go with that. I've never worked with cutting aluminum before and don't have anything here to do it. So I might just look for a similar sized pre-cut from Home Depot as I don't plan to paint or or need it to look nice when the hatch is open. Any regrets on the "butt" seat vs. a larger seat? I've always fished standing up but after a few hours on the water I've always thought a butt seat or similar would be helpful. Thoughts?
Thanks man... Keep in mind, if you run the pole all the way down to the floor it may interfere with your ability to open and close the hatch. No regrets on my end. The mount is holding up perfectly so far. Extremely sturdy. I am conscious not to go leaning on it more than I need to. After all it's still 1/2" thick wood decking. I may buy a shorter seat pole and get a seat with a back eventually for those really long days so I can sit and lean back and chill 😎
Thank you brother, this is exactly what I needed to see. I have this problem with my custom built jon boat.
Awesome man. Good luck. This mod has held up for 2 years now. No issues
Dude u r a beast. This vid was posted months ago i would STILL be measuring for that hole saw cut 🤣. Props man!!
Thanks Colby.
This is exactly what I have been looking for. You just picked up a new subscriber. Thanks again
🤙🏾👍🏾
Another great video and awesome ideas. What a good build series, clear video, and great editing. Thanks for taking the time to put all this out there.
Thanks man.
Thank you for your outstanding diy videos, more importantly thank you for having that young fishing buddy helping you!
Thanks 👍🏾🤙🏾
At what part of the process did you install the support for the hatches, and spray paint
Thanks for sharing buddy, regards from Mexico...
No problem. Mexico is big bass fishing. Thanks for watching.
Excellent explanation on your process ….
What kind of latches were used? I also have 3/4 plywood hatches and need latches that work with the 3/4 and carpet thickness
Here you go. Sending you my amazon affiliate links to the latches I used

Awesome narrative, and detailed install. Nice background music too.
Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. 👍🏾🤙🏾
Great. Video. Nice job on the install.
Another clean, rock solid install! I see that coo ride in the driveway!😜
That's right Ian. Pilots rule lol
Great video!! I plan on installing one on my closed bow skii boat. Great job man.
Thanks.
I thought that was a brilliant use of space and functionality.
Thanks Pascal. Had to make it work. 😄
Is that peddasel seat safe to use while driving the boat with a passenger sitting on it, curious for my own boat
It's not a sitting seat. Its for use while fishing.
Nice going on this one!! It looks pretty sturdy!!
Thanks man. It turned out awesome 🤙🏾👍🏾
Your boat is looking fantastic, better than what you get from bass pro
Thanks Michael. Appreciate the feedback.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV i have a 12 foot vhull crestliner that I'll be doing in the spring when the weather breaks.
@@michaeldixon3445 awesome. Enjoy the process.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV here in Maryland we have alot of snakehead so thats gonna be my target. I got the boat for free, i'm trying to do an under 1000 build including trailer and power. I'll prob break the budget though cause i have big ideas already
@@michaeldixon3445 that's normally what happens lol.
Thank you for sharing your videos. I'm in Australia and I really enjoy your channel. The detail and explanations that you deliver is very helpful (especially when it come to electrical components) and I am grateful that I have found your channel.
I look forward to many more videos to come!
Thanks for watching Trent. Appreciate your support and feedback. Got more vids coming your way 🤙🏾👍🏾
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV I'm in the midst of a 5 metre boat fit out myself. Like you, I have learnt a lot from other UA-cam videos. Your videos have become very helpful to me.
Nice work sir...
Very good install I’ve learned allot from your vids
Thanks for watching Mike. 🤙🏾👍🏾
Lol don’t pull it down the road and hit your brakes.
Lol that's what the lid latches are for
Like your videos keep up the good work
Nice work. Great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
🤙🏾👍🏾
Any chance you remember what screws you ended up using to mount the pedestal base to the deck? I didn’t see them in the description.
I believe they were the 1/4 in - 20 x 2 in Everbilt Machine Screws from home depot.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV Thanks man. I have the same model Lowe and I’m just getting started on the deck. Lots of work ahead, but I’m super excited about it. It’ll be a little different than yours, but I’m definitely borrowing a lot of your ideas. Thanks for such a thorough record of everything you’re doing. Love the channel.
How are the carpet decals holding up for you?
The TBNation ones did not hold up but the ZDecals ones did.
That was a slick instal man!! Great job
Thanks 👍🏾🤙🏾
sweet! love ur build man. Inspired me to do mine. I am doing a live well though. Come fish some tournaments up here man.
Thanks. Which tournaments do you fish in? We're looking to do some in 2021.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV Piney Run has 2 Bass tournaments sponsored by DNR. And "Electric Bass Anglers" starts up in June and has several until like November. Do you have a Facebook? I will add you

Your boat looks amazing
Thank you Sir!!!
great videos brother love the boat builds . Im currently in the process of rebuilding my tracker 1542 I ended up ordering a boat in a box kit from tbnation just wanting on it to come in with the other supplies I can't wait to get it done and film my way threw it

I watched your video, Fishing in the rain, you're a real trooper. Great video 💯
Hella impressive!
Thanks Bryan 🤙🏾
Awesome dude!
Thanks!
That is a bad idea. Do not try this at home. That lid is not secure for seat and will not hold you very bad idea.😮
Didn't you see at the end of the video where he secured it with latches and a hinge that thing ain't going nowhere.
