Bridget, congratulations on completing the school year and preparing for a fantastic year in third grade! I commiserate with you about having to take everything down, but you did a nice job organzing your materials so they will be accessible. I hope you enjoy a relaxing, well-deserved summer! 💜
You are so organized, I love how mindful you are about your classroom and the care you are taking in dismantling everything. That being said, it is BIZARRE that a professional educator is required to do this at the end of every year in your district. I understand having to cover for testing purposes, but to have to completely dismantle parts of your classroom that will never be touched by the cleaning crew is a complete waste of your precious and limited time.
I've never been in a building where I've been able to leave anything up. It's a huge pain. I have no storage at school, so I pretty much have to take everything home and bring it back. I suppose that I can't complain too much. Since I've been in my room, my school has painted it, got me all new furniture, a new Smartboard, redid the Internet, and a lot more.
You are very organized. You have a nice system. You have thought of everything. That was very tedious, I’m sure. Enjoy the summer. I was virtual for the last 3 years but I’ll be back in the building next school year.
I’m in Alabama and we have to totally dismantle our rooms just like this. They wax our cleared side then push everything over and wax the other half…it’s HARD work!
Ooooo, I might be moving down to 3rd grade too! So much fun, congrats, Bridget! I'm currently teaching multi-age 5th & 6th. I'm excited for the possible change.
Congratulations on your move back to primary , third grade is my favorite grade level that I have taught besides teaching second grade and I have enjoyed teaching fourth grade as well.
I was told I have to take everything out of the room and or box it up and label it. Nothing can be in closets or cabinets in the room. I inherited a room with some more stuff I never brought anything in from my home really. The closets are packed with stuff from 4 other teachers. The level of anxiety this is giving me is insane.
I hate that you have to take everything down. I’m my district the teachers only have to cover up test materials then bulletin boards for the summer. I am switching rooms so I had to take everything down again.
Why are they making you remove everything if you aren’t moving rooms! That’s a ridiculous waste of time and money! I feel your frustration! Enjoy your well deserved summer! 😃
Hi! You are so organized! But I can‘t see the reason why you have to remove the bulletin boards. You are in the same room next year? This is ridiculous! We had this issue one year with a new cleaning company at our school. They told us to remove EVERYTHING! And they didn't even clean the cabinet doors. The following year we asked our headmaster no negotiate the whole cleaning part with the company in advance and now we have much less work to do 👍 I love your videos! While I am so happy that you are getting a new grade level you want ; I am so sad too. As a 5th grade teacher there really is not very many GOOD youtube channels to watch and get ideas from. I have stopped watching so many that i'm down to really none. Could you suggest some really good ones please. I loved your channel and purchase your book and joined the Bridging Literacy. Now I'm stuck for next year. Any help would be great!! It's disappointing because many think badly of upper elementary students and rave of Kindergarden through 3rd. There are students who are just as sweet and wonderful who need loving and enthuastic teachers. We could use support and deas too. Sorry I don't want to be negative and I truly am sorry. OH, I will still watch you because I think you are an amazing teacher and given me so much!!! Thank You. Alicia from CT
Hey Alicia! Don’t worry I’m still focusing on 3-6th grade. I love the upper elementary grades and will continue to pour into giving rigorous and engaging lesson ideas. Unfortunately I don’t follow many teachers as it’s so much fluff and not enough to support learning in the upper grades (hence why I started BLC). Vlogs will not be the core of what I do here on the channel but rather a focus on building a gradual progression amongst 3-6th grade. These are the years where we build readers and writers and I want to help support this. ☺️
I'm so happy because I truly love your channel and all your resources. I am considering getting the bridging literacy because you have a monthly plan that affordable for me. I love all the things I every bought or used from you. You are an amazing role model and resource. Thank you!!!!!
Why in the world do you have to take everything down? That's ridiculous. I know some places require covering content during testing, but I've never had to take my boards down. We just stack desks and chairs in a corner so floors can be cleaned and store student textbooks (which I stack in the cubbies). So sorry you have to do all that.

I have serious storage space envy!

Yay! 3rd is the best!🎉
Third grade is the BEST!! You will love it!
Thanks! I’m very excited about it.
Bridget- what did you use to apply all of the cards on your board? They seemed to go on so smoothly!!
I really enjoy your videos and want you to know they are appreciated! What are the digital memory books you mentioned?
Ooooo, I might be moving down to 3rd grade too! So much fun, congrats, Bridget! I'm currently teaching multi-age 5th & 6th. I'm excited for the possible change.
Can you share the school/district’s reasoning for taking everything down? It would be interesting to hear.
Can't wait to hear for your REFLECTION; been through it and anxious to hear your thoughts too!
Do you have a video where you explain the reading tracker you had on your board?
I moved from 4th to 3rd this year. I’m looking forward to your literacy expertise applied to 3rd grade. 😁
I would LOVE to see an updated home tour on your other channel!!! Love your style!! Retired in 2020 but still love watching your channel!!
What is her home channel’s name? I never knew Bridget had another UA-cam channel. I would love to follow that one as well!

That cake idea is great 😊

I love the cake idea. I'm going to try that.
I just love these vlog like videos! I met you in 2017 at the Ron Clark academy. It was so nice to meet you!
Yay!!! You’re done! Have a wonderful summer. Room pack up is amazing. I’m at the point of just throw it in a box. I’ll regret that in July!😂
We don't have to take anything down ! That would be a nightmare
Hi Bridgett, what type of fabric do you use on your boards?
I was told I have to take everything out of the room and or box it up and label it. Nothing can be in closets or cabinets in the room. I inherited a room with some more stuff I never brought anything in from my home really. The closets are packed with stuff from 4 other teachers. The level of anxiety this is giving me is insane.
Yep, I was told the same thing. Plus they are redoing the carpet, I'm possibly moving to another classroom, and a new principal.
I hate that you have to take everything down. I’m my district the teachers only have to cover up test materials then bulletin boards for the summer. I am switching rooms so I had to take everything down again.

Testing requirements
Most teachers have to pack every year. Supposed to be for cleaning.
I have to do the same thing and I’m staying in the same room! 😡 no rationale for it at all at least what I’ve gotten

Honestly, I’m not totally sure. They say it’s to clean everything and it’s been this way for years. It is very frustrating.
