Good setup Boss. (3rd gear) Ran 14 laps on 4x wear. Lap 1= 29.07....Lap 14 = 30.08. 20% remaining on right sides.....(4th gear) 16 Laps on 4x wear. Lap 1 = 29.21....Lap 16 = 30.24... On PC. Logitech G29
Since the qualifying race is 13% instead of 7%, I think you can be more aggressive on the gears. I ran a four gear setup with a 2.94 rear end and the fuel mileage was just about perfect! I made a 21 lap run and then a 22 lap run and the car sputtered about 1-2 seconds before I crossed the line!

First time trying this setup with a g29 wheel this week, did 29.528 and been trying to get lower for 2h, I just can’t I probably should mention that my only driving experience until now was getting my driver’s license and playing American Truck Sim lol
Set up is nice, but here's my issue. I've used many of your setups on career Legend difficulty, and still have a hell of a time finishing top 5-10 at certain tracks, like Texas. The lap times even if maximized are still off by a few tenths of AI laps, especially on long runs, are they literally just that good or is there anything I can do to beat it? I'm not very crafty setup wise but like to think I'm pretty decent at driving the cars. Idk legend difficultly is really frustrating me, but Hard difficulty is way to easy, cannot find a balance lol. Appreciate you laying down a strong foundation on setups too by far the most consistent and stable setups I've found.
Let me see if I can help. First, let's start with your race settings. If I run Career Mode, I have normal grip fall off and tire wear, and usually run Career Mode at 2x or 3x wear, with relaxed cautions. I don't run "competition mode". It seems like the car slides all over the place from the beginning in Competition mode. Second, you're correct about the AI and their lap times not falling off very much on long runs. That is something that I hope is fixed in the new game. Now, let's try and find you a little bit of extra speed. I'm absolutely convinced that your wheel settings make a difference. Try different combinations of sensitivity for the gas, brake and steering, as well as steering range and see what gets you the best results. I'd share mine, but I'm 100% convinced that what works for one type of wheel doesn't work for others. I run a Fanatec wheel, and a friend of mine, who regularly outruns Pro League drivers, uses a Logitech, gave me his settings and I absolutely couldn't drive the car at all with his settings, so you just have to test different settings and see what works. At some tracks, I can just drive away from the AI and never look back, at others, I can outrun them for a few laps and then they catch up. Here's some setup advice. Most of my setups in the last 6 months have had a pretty stiff sway bar, usually about 1.675 for most tracks. This really helps the "loose off" condition that happens when the tires wear. So, if you're running some of my older setups, try going up on the front sway bar. Now, that adjustment can make the car too tight, or can produce a violent shake/wobble when you're going through the turns. If it's too tight, try going down 3-4 clicks on the wedge. If it wobbles in the turns, go up 3-4 clicks on the front bump and rebound settings. Other tips. I run relaxed cautions, and there's frequently a caution in the last 10 laps. When this happens, I usually pit for 4 tires, even if I have to start outside the top 10, because you can usually blow by the AI pretty quickly, especially on new tires. Here's another tip, when making a late race pit stop, don't take 2 cans of fuel unless you need that much gas to make it to the end. Just take enough gas to get to the finish. You'll pick up at least a tenth of a second by having fresh tires and low fuel. Also, on the late race pit stops, go down a couple clicks on the wedge to loosen the car up, since it's a short run, you don't have to worry about the car getting loose on the long runs if there's under 10 laps to go.
I have a couple of more things to add. You can change the grip level to "more grip" and that may even out your lap times with the AI. Also, tweak the setups to fit your driving style. I try to run the tape high enough to get the temps between 245-252, I also run the gear ratios to be within about 500 rpms of the redline at the end of the longest straight stretch. Adjust these things to your liking. You can download a gear ratio chart from my website ( setup-man.com/downloadable-spreadsheets ). Lift early going into the corners. Corner exit is more important than corner entry. It's not about how deep you can drive the car into the corner, it's about how early you can get back on the gas. Drivers have a saying about turns "In for show, out for dough". Meaning that driving deep into a corner looks good, but driving out is where you make your money. Corner entry only affects you from corner entry to mid-corner. Corner exit affects you from mid-corner all the way down the straight stretch, which is a much larger portion of the track. It seems like higher tire pressures will give you more speed, but the car slides around more as the tires wear. If losing speed on the long run is a problem, try running right side pressures in the 50-55 range instead of in the 55-60 range, and adjust the left sides accordingly. At places where you have to use a little brake, (short tracks and Road Courses) test different settings for "brake smoothing". If you only have to use a very little bit of brake, some people like to set it on "high" because it seems to lessen the effect of using the brake, and since you're only using a little bit of brakes, it works well. Some go the opposite route and turn it off, because the brakes are very powerful when brake smoothing is off, and you can drive it into the corner deeper because of the powerful brakes. I would advice using a low or high setting on tracks bigger than a mile in size, because when this setting is "off", it's extremely hard to get onto pit road at higher speed tracks, you stand a great risk of locking up the brakes and wrecking on your way to pit road if brake smoothing is off and it's a high speed track. Also, try owning your own race team instead of driving for someone else. It seems like I'm a little quicker in my own car than when I'm driving for someone else. I've typed a lot. I hope there's something in all of this that's helpful to you!
@@theset-upman3500 appreciate all that! I've watched many of your videos and I will say I finally won a legend difficultly race at Richmond, never thought I'd see the day lol. Thank you for the setups and the tips you just gave, I do find myself driving in too deep a lot, whether it's others online pressuring me or the AI, seems the AI loves to dive-bomb the corners (perfectly,of course) and I'll catch myself mirror driving and screwing my exit speed. It's all about finding that rhythm I've learned.
Just another update: used your setups and driving tips at Pocono and Indy, qualified on pole at Indy and led wire to wire, won doubleheader at Pocono. You're the real deal and have made me much better at this game, I greatly appreciate it and thank you!
It depends on where the car is giving you trouble, and what kind of trouble you're having. Is it on corner entry or exit? Is it tight or loose? Are you able to hit the same speeds that I was hitting in the middle of the straight and at the end of the straight? Give me some information on where you're struggling and I'll try to give you some ways to fix the problem and make the car faster.
Whenever i use your setups (incredibly helpful btw) i always place well, but the last few races my right *rear* tire wears like two times faster than any other tire, and im just wondering what specific tweaks i could make to mitigate it
Some tracks just wear out one tire more than the others (such as Phoenix). I try to get even tire wear, but sometimes, I can't get there, but I do try to make sure the tires last through the full fuel run. Here are some tips, that might help. Usually, the right rear tire wears more because the car is loose, so try the following adjustments: Go down on the right track bar, go down on the right front rebound and right rear bump settings. Go down on the right rear spring or right rear tire pressure. Going up on the sway bar is the best way to fix a "loose off" condition, but if you go up too much, the car with "wobble" through the turns. This is the best fix, but going up too much can just about vibrate the wheel/controller out of your hands. Going up on the wedge also tightens the car up, and going down on the wheel lock is another adjustment to tighten up the car. I'd start with wheel lock and sway bar and see if those can fix it.
Thanks to your fuel-saving setup, I have reached the top again. With a total time of 22: 43.976. 2nd place 23: 08.853. Texas World Race. What's your best total time?
I ran a 22:31 last night, but I didn't have anyone to draft with, so I think I could do a little better if I had a drafting partner. I was about 20th in "A" class, but I'm sure I'll get pushed further down once more fast guys run!

Hey set up man, have a question in which I’m sure u have a arsenal of answers. My problem is holding a line on straight always and in traffic. Can u give me some suggestions sir. Also I’m on a logitech g29. Thanks
First, let me say thank for watching my videos and supporting my channel, and I apologize for the delay in responding. As far as holding your line goes, practice is a big key, both against the AI and against other drivers. Second, get used to entering the corners at odd angles. Practice entering from the bottom of the straight stretch, practice running the top, learn how to hold your car in it's lane regardless of where you enter the corner, because that's where you're going to pass people, so learning the corners are key. Second, play with the in-game settings for the wheel, especially the steering range and sensitivity, those can make a huge difference. Most people use fairly low settings for the brake and throttle, but the settings for the steering range and sensitivity can vary greatly. DON'T try to copy someone else's settings that are on a different wheel. What works for a Thrustmaster is very different than what works for a Logitech, and that's different than what works for a Fanatec. Play with these settings and see what feels comfortable. I've found that I'm about the same as long as I stay within 1-2 clicks of my "comfort zone", but if I get outside of that, I can't hold a line at all. I had a friend send me his settings from a G920 and I couldn't drive the car at all with those settings on my Fanatec, so the setting vary greatly among wheels. Finally, it seems like the common theme among wheel settings is to use "the lowest sensitivity that you can run, while still controlling your car. Generally, the sensitivity settings to the far right are what people stay away from. Also, I'm not sure about this, but it seems like the guys I know that run Logitechs run the sensitivity pretty far over to the left, but I'm not sure what Logitech model they are using. I hope this helps!
Generally, I don't. Between racing in leagues, working and being a Dad, I don't have a lot of time for one-on-one help, but I'm sure that I can find some time to run some laps with you as long as you are on XBOX. What's your GT and when are you usually online?

After I did the video, I realized that the fuel-saving gear, can be changed to a 2.94 gear. Run the Heat Qualifier in 4th gear with a 2.94 gear and you should be able to make it through the race on one pit stop!`
@@theset-upman3500 With a pit stop? Fuel ok. But what about the tires with 3x wear? Do they hold up with a pit stop after 21-22 laps?
@@simonwright4807 I had no problems with the tires. I split it into a 21 lap run first, then 22 laps on the 2nd run. I think the right front tire got down to about 10%, but I could've made another 2 laps before blowing a tire.
@@theset-upman3500 great updated Texas cup setup it fast thanks
