I was in love with June Angela watching the electric company. She was so cute, and still is! 😊 Crazy how time flys, now that I'm 61 years old. Great Great girl right hear! ❤
June, you and the Short Circus helped me learn English through the Electric Company! Thank you for creating AMAZING memories for me! -- Knock! Knock! Rock!
I absolutely loved her back on the electric company. She was my first girlfriend even though she didn't know it. I was 5 and I adored her. My mom knew this and when the show came on she would give me one of those candy hearts that said "luv u"or "be mine" or something and I would put it on top of the TV to give it to her. My mom or my older sister would take it when I wasn't looking and then say " Xen look it's gone. She took it. She must really like you." Then I would spend the next 15 minutes laughing and doing summersults all around the living room. I remember it distinctly. It is one of my fondest memories of my childhood. 🙂
I recall the electric company. I had a learning problem as a kid. So I was put in a class room for this.We had 2 teachers and we got to watch some PBS shows and E.C. Was part of of our school day. What surprised was seeing Rita Romano and Bill Cosby.I had just seen a movie with her in.She started in the movie with Geory Peck Burl Ives Chuck Conners. At first I thought I was seeing things.Until I was home watching the Electric Company at home.My mother walks by and stops and says What Bill Cosby doing?"That was indeed Bill cosby.Any way it was a great show back then. She almost looks the same to me.Ya a bit older other than that the same.I think the whole cast had talent. You know I could be in a bad mood. But that show would make me feel better.
June Angela was my very first crush, when I was 4 years old, back in 1976, which is my earliest memory. And to this day, I still have a major crush on her! She was the reason of my getting interested in acting, for I was often cast in the school plays as the lead, and started doing back ground in movies, and have appeared in 26 total for the past 28 years. All I can say is June Angela is my total soul and inspiration! Totally in love with her!
Cool, I am so sorry you didn't get to watch her in the Short Circus from the very start. I was 7 years old when the show debuted in 1971 and I know what you mean! I saw every episode, bought the albums and later all the DVDS I could find of the show.
She was literally my first crush. First saw her when I was 4 years old or so. She was literally the first Asian girl I had ever seen. (I grew up in the Midwest in the 70s.) I kept pointing her out to my mom when she came on the TV.
Such a beautiful, gracious and humble lady. She was my favorite character on the Electric Co. I always thought her dancing was the best; just beautiful and graceful. Hope I get to see her in person some day!
Julie (June Angela) was my favorite Short Circus Band member and I loved her long black shiny hair way back then. Of course, I found her sooo pretty and wanted to be like her. She was the best dancer as well.
I loved the the cast of the ELECTRIC CO. ; I’m glad to see so many of them are still around and still working...Ms June was a standout, and always very charming...thanks for posting this...
I saw June in "The King and I", at the London Palladium in 1979, when I was 10, and my family visited England. She played Tuptim, and I still remember what a wonderful surprise it was to see her name in the programme, when we were waiting for the show to start. I was more excited about seeing her in the show, than I was about seeing Yul Brynner.
I had the biggest crush on her when I was a kid in the 70's watching The electric company..... I honestly believe she was my first love .... Great to see her doing well!
After school rushing home to watch Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mister Roger's Neighborhood and Captain Kangaroo. All classics After school delights!
Sesame workshop, formerly the Children's Television Workshop already was familiar with June Angela as she not only appeared in one of the earliest Sesame Street Episodes in 1969, she was also one of the Wee Willy Winter singers who sung the Sesame Street theme Song which opened the show from it's debut in 1969 until 1993. That may have something to do with how June Angela got her part in the Short Circus of The Electric Company two year later.
Great interview. It’s very rare that actors from 70s and early 80s PBS shows are interviewed. “Electric Company” was one of my favs growing up. Another one of mine was the first season...but ONLY the 1st season of “321 Contact”, it would be nice to interview one of those people from the first season. In fact I recently ran across a recent pic of Ginny Ortiz (Trini) when she was doing “The Warriors” reunion. I wonder if she would be willing to do a “321 Contact” interview. twitter.com/warriorsmovie/status/643142693263134720/photo/1 one of the questions would be maybe...”were you really alone out in that desert?” 😄 Here’s the show playlist to get you familiared ua-cam.com/play/PLnDmS279LajF3lTg--eo5jkLnmS-hq2nX.html
The Electric Company- boy did I ever enjoy watching that show, 40-50 years ago when I was still a boy. She was the one who was all over the place in there then. Did she also play Jennifer in “Jennifer of the Jungle”?
I just noticed that on The Electric Company Candy Candles a fly lands on the cake at the beginning! If you go to the UA-cam video you can see the fly flying flying at 0:11 then land on the upper right part of the cake at 0:12. Then they kept the image still with the short circus dancing on it with the fly still on though out the rest of the sketch!

Me too! Had a classmate in kindergarden who looked like her so had a crush on her too...never got anywhere though...was too shy.
For me too. Though, I saw the show in Brooklyn, NY (chan 13) for a period in the early 80s.

So good to see her on video for the first time ever. She was just an incredible part of the Electric Company cast member.

She was a crush of mine too. Unfortunately I grew up in the 80's and only saw her in syndication well after TEC wrapped production.
Glad to know I wasn't alone. I adored her.

I don't know a single boy from that era (including me) who didn't have a crush on June.
I’ve been in absolute love with Miss June since I was 5 years old. I’m 49 now. ❤️
June Angela looks as amazing today as she did back then!
She hasn't changed since the Electric Company!
Next to Sesame Street,The Electric Company was one of the greatest PBS classic kids shows EVER!

June and The Electric Company were part of my childhood and now Ì get to share the show with my granddaughter. She loves the show as much as I did

Awesome!!! I'm tearing up. It's so awesome that we get to see what she is up to.
I had the biggest crush on her when I was a kid in the 70's watching The electric company..... I honestly believe she was my first love .... Great to see her doing well!
Has anyone ever lived who could not like June Angela? I ask you.
I used to love watching her on The Electric Company.
Not many people know it, but she won an Emmy Award for "The Electric Company" (in the Special Awards/ Merit category)
Great interview, love June. It's just funny that I was 4 when I started watching The Electric Company and now she looks younger than me. 😍
After school rushing home to watch Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mister Roger's Neighborhood and Captain Kangaroo. All classics After school delights!
780 episodes of “The Electric Company,” 130 per season, for six seasons. Peace.
And she made cameo appearances on the new version. From 2.009 to 2.012.
I wonder if June's gotten tired of hearing about TEC.
God, did i have a crush on her as a kid
Me too. Her eyes were hypnotic 😁
WOW She never aged!

you are adorable Ms. Angela!
That "Mel Mounds" thing was my fave! As well as anything else w/ June Angela!
WOW! You still look the same June as you were 50years ago.
June sang the song to the movie '' Love takes wing'' a very beautiful song and her voice was amazing. The movie was great too and is on UA-cam.
The Electric Company- boy did I ever enjoy watching that show, 40-50 years ago when I was still a boy. She was the one who was all over the place in there then. Did she also play Jennifer in “Jennifer of the Jungle”?
No, it was Judy Graubart.
Man after all this time she still looks the same wow!!!!
June Angela is still very pretty. As a kid I had a crush on her, Rita Moreno
