      The order is whatever order you scan in. Not based on page numbers, so you shouldn't just scan randomly. But at the same time that means your notes don't have to always be in order either.

    I've had my Rocketbook Everlast for quite a while now & frankly it got lost in my home office because I never use it. I found it a couple of days ago & had completely forgotten how to use it. Not only was this video a great refresher, your idea of using a permanent marker to create a weekly agenda page is brilliant!

I have a whole playlist of 'Everything Rocketbook' that you may also find of interest. Also, my plan for next month is to try using a printer to more accurately print the templates onto the Rocketbook pages directly... So if custom templates interest you, stay tuned!

    Hi Jake, I just bought the Rocketbook Core yesterday (4.4.22) and I just viewed your review today.
    I have a few questions for you: its been 3 years since you made this review. Are you still using your Rocketbook? Have you upgraded to something other than the Core? Do you use more than one style of Rocketbook?

    • @JakeReevesVideo

      Hi Lysandra, thanks for watching! Yes I am still using a Rocketbook, but I have jumped around a lot, trying different versions. You can see my evolution (as well as a few more tips) by checking out my Everything Rocketbook playlist. The Core is a classic! I love that you can make it your own using a permanent marker (I still do this all the time). Currently, I’m using their newest, hardcover, Rocketbook Pro (formerly: Axis). I've heard people have operated success cleaning accidental permanent marker stains with alcohol, but generally you should avoid alcohol on the surfaces because the page coating is vulnerable to damage.

    Great review, very helpful pros and cons about Rocketbook. Glad you took the time out to do this. A little confusing (replayed a few times) on explaining the suggestion to prevent/reduce smudges- don't use folded mode. I finally understood to open and lay both pages flat, commence writing on left page first until filled. Second, leave left page alone to dry and commence writing on the right page since it takes around 15 seconds or so for the ink to dry. The con here is that most people would prefer to write in folded mode (not fully laid out mode).Thank you for the review, and keep up the great work.

    So... It's basically no different then writing on normal paper, with a normal pen, and taking a normal picture of it. Except you have to lug around a special notebook and special pen and wipe it off... So it's worse than just using a normal notebook in everyway?

    • @foreverdissenting3675
      @foreverdissenting3675 3 роки тому

      Lol that is actually brilliantly put! After reading your comment I can’t really disagree with you. You can literally write notes on a normal regular paper notebook and simply take a photo of it save it in a specific photo album for notes or upload the picture to Evernote or whatever note app you use. I guess if you’re for saving the environment and want to cut back on paper use that’s one thing, but if someone is looking for an alternative to digital note taking than simply old school pen and paper is tough to best. Especially since like you said you can just take a picture of it and store it that way.

    I've the biggest one, so here is my question: how do you feel the paper after many times you wiped it? Because I just take a few notes I need like at least 3 pages (max) so my first page has become a bit hard to write on it, how are your pages? Do you still can write smoothly or you have to press a bit harder?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  5 років тому

      I can still wrote fine after several uses of the pages. I believe they are coated, so depending on how hard you write and press while cleaning I suppose you could lift it off, but I haven't had any issues yet. They only issues I've experienced are with some discolouration from leaving the ink on too long (30 days +).

    Hi Jake
    I got my rocketbook! Thanks to your review
    My only complaint which you do mention is the smearing. I read that it take 15 secs to dry but thats a long time to wait when trying to take pages of notes.
    Was just wondering if u came across any other FriXion pens that dont smear or have shorter drier time?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      I'm glad to hear that you found my videos useful. Thanks!
      The drying time is definitely a problem of you are trying to take notes and need to flip the page. I'm actually in the process of testing every FriXion pen, marker and highlighter for a new video that should be out in the next few weeks, so stay tuned. The dry time is definitely something that I want to test for each type.
      Having said that, I don't expect a dramatic change from 15 seconds. The best advise I would give for now is maybe try using the 0.5mm pens instead of the 0.7mm ones, if you were using them, because they produce thinner lines, which should dry a little faster. Other than that, fans significantly improve drying time - but are impractical for coursework...
      Sorry there isn't a clear cut solution yet. And I hope you still enjoy your Rocketbook ✌️

      Jake Reeves thank you for all your videos about these topics!! I recently bought a CORE and some fine-tipped FriXion markers (they’ll be in the mail Monday). I used the Rocketbook Wave about a year ago, but my biggest frustrations with it were how quickly it deteriorated in the microwave and how easy it was to dent/scratch the pages. That’s why I’m trying the markers, which I’m guessing will take even longer to dry.

    I've been considering this for s time. I don't need it for uploading. I want to use this as a bullet journal planner. A year at a glance, a monthly calendar and tracker. I'd need the year at a glance to last about a year, the month calendar / trackers a month and the weekly, a week. My question is will this be do-able or is it easier to just use a composition book as I have been? Like can you leave the ink on the pages for an extended length if time?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  5 років тому +1

      Great question Michael. I'm actually just writing the script for a video on the new Everlast Fusion notebook and have found myself in a similar situation, where I don't really care about the upload as much as just using it as a reusable notebook.
      I just erased some writing from one of my Everlast notebooks that has been there for a few months and there are definitely some shadows that remain from the lettering. The company recommends not letting the ink stay for more than 30-days without erasing, so you may be out of luck. Having said that, I am playing around with just tracking monthly and uploading and erasing accordingly, which may work for you. It doesn't solve the problem of planning something for more than about a month in advance, but it's a good compromise.
      I hope this helps. And thanks for watching!

      Rocketbook says not to leave it for more than 30 days. I've found that it starts to stain the pages after that, especially if you use the red FriXion pens. Something about that colour makes the staining more prominent. It doesn't become unusable, but the page just looks dirtier.

    So I know there's the coating that can be damaged pretty fast by Frixion erasers. However, I'm worried that the pen tip itself will slowly scratch the page and leave "dent" marks or super-faint residue over time. After so much use, does your oldest notebook still feel like the pages are white and completely flat or does it look like you wrote pencil on a piece of notebook paper >100 times? Using the notebook for school notes next year!

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому

      It all depends on how hard you write. The pages are not impenetrable. After a year I notice some pages starting to discolour a bit if you hold them next to a new page, but that's to be expected. This is worse if you use coloured FriXion pens.

    • @stevenmao6766
      @stevenmao6766 4 роки тому +1

      So what's the reasonable pressure I should put on the page to make minimal dents and also should I be using thicker points (0.7mm)?

    Nice review, thank you -
    Edit:-Ah, I found your other reviews on this that answer my questions I think.
    No longer relevant part of my comment: but I'm still walking away unclear about the actual pens. They must run out and you need to restock them, correct? How detailed of note-taking can you go, like can you do extremely fine drawings of, say, trig problems with angles, points, arrows, tics on the graphs, etc etc? I also still don't quite understand where the pages actually go... with a physical notebook, I can flip through a hundred pages of notes and locate what I'm looking for, but I loose that tactile "searching" with a digital simulacrum of this. So I keep bouncing back and forth.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  2 роки тому +1

      The pens come in a variety of tip sizes (I have two videos about the FriXion pens) and they are capable of all the levels of detail that you described. They are like normal pens in performance with the exception that they feel more like extra smooth gel pens because of the synthetic paper. For the note organization, check out my destinations video. Your notes end up in the Rocketbook App (which has a lot of search features) as well as the colour destination (google drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc) of your choice. You do loose the tactile feel of flipping through your notes, but I find that worthwhile to spare myself of the clutter + the added benefit of being able to use Optical Character Recognition features like smart search. It is a tough call though if you are passionate about the traditional note flip experience. Good luck ✌️

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! This is a good, but hard to answer question. Rocketbook claims that you can endlessly reuse it, which is probably true if you care for it very well, but it will really depend on a few things. The most important is how much pressure you use to write with. I find heavy writing actually imprints on the page, which makes it harder to clean over time. For me, I have been using them for nearly a year now and they show the wear (particularly the covers that scrape against things), but are still perfectly fine for use - mind you I don't write on the same page every day I probably use each page 1-3 times per month. I went into it thinking that if I got 1-year, that would be good.

      The ink will be much more likely to smudge with the Rocketbook's synthetic pages than with a standard paper notebook. I have a whole video that looks at the FriXion pens and their drying time, etc. But typically I'd say you're looking at about 10-15s to dry, which may be an issue if you at all drag your palm across the writing. Thank you so much for your videos, Jake, I totally agree that your Everlast reviews are the best. I have a quick question, if you can render a comment I would so appreciate it. I started some time ago using a very mild baby wipe instead of water system to erase in my Everlast. It seems to work very well, but I don't know if I'm harming my pages in the long run. I just ordered and will get today a new Rocketbook "Smart" so I thought I'd get your opinion. The wipes I use [my grandbaby's!] are "au naturelle"! My Everlast is 3 years old, so I do see "ghosts" at times and on certain heavily used pages, but I don't want to cause that in my new notebook if I'm harming pages with using the wipes. Any thoughts? Thank you so much for all of your help!

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 роки тому

      Hi Linda, thanks! I'm glad to hear that you find my Rocketbook content helpful. In general, I don't recommend using baby wipes on Rocketbooks because anything other than water may damage the surface coating of the pages, so you'll want to be careful and make sure you check what ingredients are in the wipes. Having said that, if you have been using them for 3 years and aren't running into any issues other than a little ghosting, then the natural ingredients may be inert when contacting the synthetic pages. A little ghosting in heavy areas is to be expected. I try to take really good care of my Rocketbooks, as I'm sure you do, and I still have ghosting in areas where ink has pooled heavily. I think the ghosting is just something that we have to live with if you leave ink in the notebook for any period of time unfortunately. I hope this helps! All the best!
