In my opinion the nobel prize of 2004 was greatly diserved. Geim and Novoselov open the field of 2D materials, one of the most interesting fields in physics. Furthermore the fields both in physics and chemistry thar graphene opened are huge. Also at that time there was a theory of why 2D materials shouldn't exists and that was the reason that not a lot of people where looking for it. They kind of proved that this theory was wrong and 2D materials can exists in nature

I ended up cutting it out for time, but initially I explained that another questionable matter with that prize was that the language used by the Nobel committee seemed to suggest they thought Geim and Novoselov had invented/discovered graphene. Which they hadn't. But the language was kinda ambiguous.
