  • Installing a Wood Burning Stove (Petchka) in a Container House during a snow storm. The Container House is a prefabricated building with a metal lattice structure, some insulation sandwiched between a PVC cladding. It doesn't hold a lot of heat, too Cold in Winter and too Hot during Summer. Timo wanted to move in there from the caravan for more space and wanted to move in asap and hence, we ended up (or he did) installing the Woodburning Stove during minus temperatures, freezing cold winds and snow. He may endure extreme hunger for a week, and extreme cold for a day, but extreme fear may undo him in an hour. There is no way of guarding against this greatest danger except by assuring him that he is fortified against the other two.” Ernest Thompson Seton.

    Just stumbled on into this video. Wanted to let you know two things. First, your descriptions are thorough and helpful. More importantly for me, I was scrolling through the comments and noticed your replies. You show in this a great motivation to be in kinship with people, with a real desire to be helpful. Thank you

    Hi ,May I know the stove still works well or not?Cause i am the manufacturer of container house in China.I have client would like to put the stove in the container house.We can make this container by fireproof materials no problem,but we haven't experience or haven't client put the buring stove in container before.I am interested to know more about the feeling after you using it.This is my email: mandy.mbshouse@gmail.com and whatsapp number: +86 18818900943 May I know you and discuss more details about it ?

      Hi Mandy Kong, yes the wood burning stove works very well although it was necessary to clean out all of the chimney pipes and change one or two pieces outside that had rusted through before using it again for the winter season.
      The problem with the limited depth of Rockwool insulation in such structures is that they do not hold the heat for a long time so, you start off with a very high room temperature to begin with, but after some hours, if you do not add fuel to the fire then, it can get cold during the night. Might be better to have a Pellet Stove Burner - depends on what materials one has to hand.
      This year, as my container house is static, I have plans to build a proper outside chimney using made for purpose blocks, to change the stove for one that also allows me to cook food on top and bake/roast in its built in oven. This stove will also have the ability to provide heating for hot water and 1-2 radiators.
      My container house is 27 square metres and has a separate bedroom (currently unheated), a bathroom in the middle and the room shown in this video. I wish to run the new stove and radiators and boiler without using an electric pump and back it up during the summer months with a solar panel.
      I hope that helps - if not, you can find my contact email in the About part of my Channel and if that doesn't work, please make another comment here and I will get back to you. Thank you.

      Thank you very much .May I know your this container is the sandwich panel container house with internal and external decoration board?Not the shipping container homes?

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria  5 років тому

      @@prefabhouse1587 No, this is not a shipping container, this is a purpose built container house made here in Bulgaria using lattice framed square metal profile, infilled with Rockwool and cladded with a PVC inside and out. The containers arrive ready to be connected to mains electricity, water and sewerage outlets as required. You can check out the options here:- www.tophouse.bg/

    I’m no spring chicken, and as a British Army Veteran on a small Army Pension, as you might imagine, I’m on a tight budget for the equipment used and displayed in my videos which doesn’t include the behind the scenes Camera equipment and the average two days of my time it takes per video for my old brain to get to the final upload stage. Hi Robert. We visited our house in Bulgaria last year and are moving from the UK preeminently in July after getting married. Were considering the possibility of installing a central heating system heated by the Pechka. Have you ever done this or seen anyone do so?

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, lots of people install Wood Wood Burning Stoves that unlike the one in this film that only give direct heat, my main one where I live heats the hot water and can heat a certain number of radiators albeit, because my house is so small and, was a new build, I had underfloor heating installed. In my apartment however, due to not being able to store wood, I use a Pellet Burning Stove which doesn't require feeding with wood every hour or so and is probably cleaner as you're always going to get some smoke and dust from a wood burning stove especially until you get used to it.

      @@RobertsBulgaria thanks for your reply Robert. I know you're probably busy but if you ever make a video on the water heating system you have I would be very interested to watch! We're moving to a small village outside popovo so if you're not too far away and need a sparky, give us a shout!

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria  3 роки тому +1

      @@spackerinternational6131 Look up a company such as PRITY prity-bg.com/en/ to get an idea of what is available and they're a Bulgarian company and will no doubt have a retail outlet in your area of BG that can advise and install the system if you don't find a Heating Engineer. You will need an immersion heater too of course for when the wood burning stove or Pellet burner is not working during the summer months and a solar panel is going to help heat water too during the long hot summers. You need a good UPS and/or generator backup too because we suffer Power Outages which in such a system can and will result in a hot steam blow out without a back up power supply if the fire is going full power.

    is the insultaion that you put around the flue not flammable ?

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria  5 років тому +2

      Coincidental that I get a comment now when I am about to update this video, but to answer your question - I extracted this from Google Search:-
      ROCKWOOL insulation is made from naturally fire resistant volcanic diabase (stone). Created using the same process that occurs at the heart of a volcano, ROCKWOOL stone wool tolerates temperatures of up to 1000°C and will not burn. I trust that answers your query. Many thanks for asking.
