Actually if it is diesel fuel then it is a RACOR 500FE...not FG....FG is the gasoline version....the integrity of the t handle o-ring cannot be overstated in diesel applications. If the t handle o-ring doesn't form a good seal air can get sucked into the entire system leading to engine shut off...then you would have to bleed all the air out in order to re-start your engine.
No, the 500FG is the current model and suitable for diesel. Have a look at the label on the unit pictured here: www.racorstore.com/racor-500fg30-fg-fuel-filter-water-separator.html
Came across this advice... "Don't shutoff the fuel intake to avoid getting air in the lines and allow for easier flow. Get a glass jar and place it under the bottom drain and open the valve. Water and muck will come out first and when you see clear fuel starting to come out shut the valve. Just clean up any spilage and you are done.Jun 9, 2010"
Thank you for this information. Cracking the t - bar worked for me. Also best video found for this . Very compete like no others .
Very clear and informative! I appreciate it!
Is it OK to start it with half a bowl showing on the bottom you filled up the top but what about the bottom ball where the water and crud is
Que rosca es el purgador inferior?, 1/2 " se cuela. Se me ha roto y quería poner una llave. Gracias
Thanks for the info, very nice. What about the air void in the bowl after draining water and debris? Can this air get sucked in to the system as well?
Yes and he did not fill it correctly
Should have taken the time to FILL the unit so that the CLEAR BOWL was no longer 1/2 filled.
Unwary user may think 1/2 filled is OK.
No encuentro repuesto. Del purgador.
Excellent video..

I have the problem you described
What can be done about an O ring in-leaking air?

The fuel pump will fill the void on its own. It won't only use half the filter if it's half full.
i have fuel filter if you need you can text me
You didn't lubricate your o-rings w fuel. You did not emphasize they should not be twisted to insure a proper fit. You should take this video down.
