Looks like the wife and I have some work ahead of us; creating another child that's eight to twelve years of age. First thing's first... I really hope UA-cam has a video on how to reverse a vasectomy.
What people tend to forget is that good writing is good writing, whether for children or adults. I only picked up a couple of excellent YA books in the last few years because they are fantastically done, unlike almost every single YA book available to me as a young adult (shows what adults in the publishing industry have thought of those younger than them). They are, incidentally, Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (another UA-camr!) and Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko (one day to be a Netflix series, they are taking their time though - it's a massive, amazing undertaking, if done right) I will be launching into this with similar levels of glee!
"Here, it's an unboxing video.". Hilarious. I can't wait to read this, and in turn share it with my niece! I think I need the audiobook just for the hilarity.
Its good that kids has a chance to appreciate the intricate details of the lighthouse and understand the depth of the line delivery "your fond of my lobster!!"
Goddamn man, you can act, animate, voice act, write comedy, and now I find out you can write books? What other talents you got hidden under that luscious, red mane?
I must say, as a person homebound due to severe chronic illness, your audiobooks are great company. So I fit in the ”a bit thick” category I guess😂 can’t wait for the next one!!
I'm so excited! I read your first book to my mother this summer and we both found it so fun and charming. As soon as I had finished the last page she asked me if there was a sequel. She'll be delighted when I tell her!
I was assuming the illustrations were done by ABK himself until he mentioned the illustrator. Now I am a little relieved, there's too much talent stuffed into one person already
Oh my goodness gracious we get a second one?! I AM SO EXCITED! I adore the first one for its wholesome cozy vibes and excellent parodies of classical tropes and clichés. The afterword is hilarious as well. 😂❤ Bless this day! 🙏 🎉
It has finally arrived! And I have begun reading it; I noticed a lil' typo (I think) on page 62, it says 'Please to tell, Fräulein' when I suspect it should be 'Please DO tell'. Such a minor thing but it was fun to notice it as a non-native english speaker. Can't wait to keep reading. ❤
As you started the narration I did think to myself " i'd love to have that voice to send me off to sleep, very calming....errr I mean my kids, not me...i'm not dumb!"
As a long-time listener of the Loremen podcast (of which ABK is one half), I have learned that "I listen to this while I go to sleep" isn't a great compliment in his eyes. He's always going "Don't sleep! This is supposed to be engaging!"
They do speak fondly of the Snorefolk sometimes, but yes, they do prefer the Chorefolk (people who listen while doing the laundry and other chores) and other such categories of fan
I bought the first book for my class library, and my students have generally quite enjoyed reading it in their spare time, so I'll be getting this one too.
Pestered the bosses to get a copy of the first book for the library I work at, and got to be the first person to check it out when it arrived, ruining the day of many children who had hoped to get there first. I quite enjoyed it. Ruining the day of the children, I mean. The book was good too.
Saw you on a panel show some time ago & wondered who you were? And now I know & absolutely love your humour. I'm an old [but not stupid] biddy & thank you for giving me a birthday gift idea for my grandson. I've also ordered Murder at the Museum.
I'm reading the first book with my six-year-old. She's loving it. So am I, truth be told. Just to clarify, though: if the book sucks my face in, how exactly do I call someone? I mean, my mouth is on my face, now sucked into a book. Please offer guidance, I like to be prepared for emergencies.
@@ABeckettKing "Eh, close enough." 😂 At least you are considering translations! Man the young Norwegian kids will be lucky to be able to read this one. 🙏 Guess I got to teach my nephews Norweigan or English, at least I got two options now. 🥹
Yeah, and I suppose the only way to find out is to preorder it... then we'll see if we'll get a real book in the package or just a "gullible" sticker or something like that
I ordered some of the first one in to sell from my store and it did really well! Love the illustrations and the writing has such charm and whimsy to it. Will definetely get the second one on the 9 - 12 table.
So many murders in the simple village of Midsomer. Oh wait. Hold on. Wrong murder mystery. I mean, it was Colonel Mustard in the dining room with the candlestick!... Wait... That's not right. Let me try one more time. It's amazing how brave Bonnie is. Running into these situations. But when did Montgomery get there? How did he know there was a murder when it only just happened? Hmm. So mysterious.
Heee I learned English with BBC tapes in the 1970's. The workbooks had Quentin Blake illustrations. I still remember the adventures of Peter and Molly. And how difficult to was to pronounce "aeroplane".
It's just dawned on me, some of your comedy is Cunk-esque, gives the same energy Diane Morgan does when playing Philomena Cunk, especially that last bit about "not sucking your face in" - it's great! 🤣
Congratulations ABK! Murder at the Museum was a treat (and has proven quite popular in my wife's classroom library) and I look forward to the next hijinks from the great Montgomery Bonbon and Grandpa Banks!
Just pre-ordered the audio book. I hope you'll do an audio book for the first one. And why a video book - based on the animation in this vid? That'd be cool.
My books are broken 😢 Open the pages, and all the videos don't play, or any audio really. Can't figure out where the batteries should go, i guess they aren't replaceable?

Poor guy can't catch a break.
Ok.
The crossover we need!!!!
Oh hey it's half of my favorite UK podcaster
He's ABK, not TBH.
Haven't we all woken up after a tiring day and found that we've written a full novel?
I hate it, happens twice a week now. 😤
So frustating and lucrative.
Nice!

An AUDIOBOOK??? I don’t have to imitate your accent to make this one extra awesome? OH MY GAWD! I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE THIS BOOK!!
As a thick adult who is tired of having my face sucked in by things, this looks perfect for me!
Does it also artistically smell like a book? That was the main selling point of the first one.
Reeks of book.

I swear so many still make the basic mistake of 'its goodness' vs 'it's good'. Even kindergarten children know better.
"Local whimsy merchant" is an excellent job title. Wish I could write that under "Occupation" in my bank forms and other forms of that nature.
I turned 58 this week but I'm partial to a bit of "middle grade fiction". Just finished The Complete Borrowers which was mostly a re-read.
Love those books ❤️
