F1 and FIA have been changing rules regularly in recent years, but they’re about to change some rules that will actually send shockwaves through the grid for once, as they’re about to completely overhaul the point scoring system.
That’s because F1 teams and series management are seriously considering expanding the existing top ten points-paying positions. A suggestion to cover the top 12 was considered at a recent F1 Commission meeting, but it was determined that more time was required to develop a foolproof strategy.

20 cars on the grid, 20 points 1st and down to 1 point for last place.

if expanding the points system comes true, we can see a williams comeback, with them having a higher position meaning more prize money meaning better facilities

in my honest opinion the points system should go to the last place as mentioned or at least 15 out of the 20. SO the fire to earn a point will remain

They do have the funding to improve the facilities issue is that it comes out of their budget cap so they have to balance car performance vs facilities improvements

I think a top 15 points system would be beneficial. Any more than that though and you are rewarding team’s points that they didn’t work to earn.

Points for all depending on positions please. This will be more exciting , motivating and rewarding for all teams and drivers as well as spectators, sponsors, family and fans or followers of the sport.

    Go to 15 cars getting points. Start with p1 getting 25 p 2 20 p3 17 p4 15 p5 11 and scale down to 1 at 15 from that

Does it matter how many points are given? There are twenty cars on grid, so win gets 20, 2nd gets 19 etc. bonus for fastest lap. Eliminate sprint - it’s only a money making device.

I want to see points all the way down the field. I have a very unique proposal for a sliding scale. DNF gets 0 points. Last place still on the track racing gets 1 point and each place up the order gets 1 more point than previous position up to p 10. From p 10 up, keep the same points differences between places as today, they just count up from p10 instead of down from p1. This makes first place points determined by how many people are left at the end of the race. You get more points for beating more people on track. I’d also like to see points deductions when a driver is found to be at fault in taking another driver out of the race.

The deduction would be both good and full of controversy as to what level of fault there is. And could be easily abused when a driver could still finish but instead says there is too much damage to continue so that they other driver gets the deduction.
I am glad there would be less deliberate backing the pack up when a driver is just out of the points to keep the other in the points like HAAS have done a few times this season

If they would just do the sprints in a reverse grid in points, you could have an FP2 and let the back of the pack battle for points.

In my opinion every driver should get points and be rewarded for finishing.
However, the FIA should first and foremost sort out the different standards when applying penalties, interpretation of rules, etc, depending on what driver makes the infringements.
This points thing seems a bit of a smoke screen, although I think It would be an improvement in general.

If you run a car in F1, if you finish, you should receive points. 20 cars finish, 20 points paid out. They said Andretti wouldn't be completive in their denial of their entry, and right now there's 2 'long standing' teams that have zero points so far. That's competitive in the mind of F1?

One must remember these guys are not the brightest bulbs on the three; look at the cars, look at the rules just be thankful no one’s lives are at stake! Oh and better look at Indy Car they had more passes the last few laps the F1 has had all season and fl had more races. Good work guys, idiots………….
