El año es 20XX. Humanos llamados ＜Concords＞ e IAs de alto rendimiento llamadas ＜Codeman＞ unen fuerzas para competir en el juego de cartas ZENONZARD. El público está entusiasmado con el campeonato mundial, EL ZENON.
Un día, Sota Azuma, un estudiante de instituto normal y corriente es retado a un duelo por una misteriosa mujer, Eilietta Lash. Eilietta revela que es una Codeman y que pretende participar en EL ZENON con Sota. Sota acepta de mala gana. El primer adversario de Sota y Eilietta resulta ser la super-famosa jugadora Shion Saionji, que va a la escuela de Sota, y su amigo, Ash Claude.
