One Change That Makes Amazing Spider-Man Way Better
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2020
- Amazing Spider-Man isn't a bad movie...but it does feel repetitive. It retold an origin story that we saw on screen just ten years earlier, but didn't offer fans anything new--despite promising "an untold story."
So, we thought of one little change that would have made the movie--and the franchise--far more interesting.

What do you think of Amazing Spider-Man?
Ok
Nice Movie
It is underrated but it’s not one of the best
It's better than spider man 3 and asm 2. I think today, it's a better movie than Raimis original. My favorite spidy movie is spider verse, followed very closely by spiderman 2.
It’s actually a great film I like your take though but the whole theme of TASM is about Father figures and with uncle Ben not dying it jumbles it up a bit. But if there were some rewrites I’m sure that it’d work perfectly in a nice little bow.
Can I just say the MJ screaming montage was everything?
"Well, everyone knows Uncle Ben died in Spider-Man. What this movie presupposes is... maybe he didn't."
Thanks for noticing!
Haha, great!!
Excellent Royal Tenebaums reference
This could potentially be a good web series. Where we explore captain stacy and his NYPD take out gangs in the city and a rising Peter parker as spiderman
"Small change."
You created an absolutely new Spider-Man universe and I gotta say, IT WOULD BE AMAZING. Spider-Man with an Iron Man complex lmfao
The suit in The Amazing Spider-Man looked a lot more realistic than the MCU suit.
And Sam Rami’s
@@javierlozanoguiler722 well, Sam Raimi's movies were a few years before TASM. The MCU movies were after TASM 2 so the suit in the MCU really should have looked better.
@@funofboredom Because the suit in the MCU was trying to look more like the comics. It wasn't going for realism.
@@user-vi4xy1jw7e And yet the ASM2 suit still looks more like the comics.
Yea sure (he’s a vigilante) but is that really what we want?
There's some way the amazing Spider-Man could be repaired! That's a thing a have to see!!!
I liked the different take on Peter Parker, but I agree. It would have been interesting to see character development from jerk to hero. MCU did a great story arch for Peter's development.
Yep he didn't deserve that hate
This is an ok movie. Not ASM2/SM3 bad. It has some great scene like when peter saves the kid at the bridge and inspired him to climb up by saying the spider mask gives you power. That's how you execute a hero
Spider-Man 3 isn’t that bad I’d say it’s better than homecoming and ffh even thou that’s not saying much
Fun Fact:Each year there are more than 40,000 toilet related injuries in the United States.
Pst! Bro, I think they are just referring to him as Ben's original now
I hate to do this but my mom said I won’t hit 1k subs before Halloween and I wanna prove her wrong! I’m at 729! Plz help
Haha!
I can't imagine how mad Hi-Top films is right now.
Didn’t he liked the movie tho?
I’m talking about this version, buddies
Your what if stories are amazing. it's just sad we wouldn't get to see it
Unless he remakes them himself and writes the script. I thinking in a student film way but not amauturish.
I really enjoy your analysis and ideas. I feel like many people decide that they totally love or totally hate a lot of these films. For me, there are parts I don't enjoy and parts I really do in most. This is not my favorite Spider-Man film, but it's not all bad, as you point out. Keep up the great work!
The only thing stopping me from liking your change is the internet famous thing that just isn’t needed
Is the contemporary equivalent to TV celebrity.
@@marcoasturias8520 I understand that but it doesn’t feel needed. It seems to me that you can take that completely out and not change anything
I LIKE YOUR IDEAS! And because you actually brought something new to the table, I subscribed. Good job.
Ryan you deserve all the monetization you get, your analysis is awesome!! thanks
Do you agree with Doug?
Always
Can I disagree
Always
Woof

Wow THIS IS ACTUALLY GREAT now I wish the movies actually went this route, can you make a following up vid on tasm2 in this storyline
Joel McHale, Joey Diaz, Donell rawlings. The OG spidey had some future stars
Wow! totally blew my mind with this one. Please do more of these what-if Videos. Start with the Justice League next.
I really like this idea! A sort-of what if story that could've added a compelling twist. It's like in Spider-Verse when Miles' uncle died instead of his dad.
It's would be like how Bruce Wayne become Batman without his parents death
You nailed it Ryan. Great job.
One of the biggest things people bitch about the mcu Spider-Man is "we never saw uncle ben die". You want to make it were he lives altogether.
Yet where all of the Spider-Man fans. I don't see them hating on this idea. Feel like there is a bias against the mcu Spider-Man for some reason.
Captain Stacey's son should've performed a melodrama about the dangers of social media and big data.
Great video!
Love the vids
Awesome video 👌
0:43 Jeez, I did realize how mcuh Uncle Ben from the Rami trilogy looked like Uncle Ben from Amazing Spider man. That's crazy.
On a related note, it kinda reminds me of Martin Sheen in the West Wing, too.
I'm an idiot. That IS Martin Sheen in Amazing Spiderman.
What do you guys think about spider verse rumours? If garfield and maguire are casted, do you think they will have cameos, or be there throughout the film? What would you want?
I like the change. My major problem with the Amazing series was that they got Peter very wrong, he is arrogant, selfish, etc and not very smart. Peter Parker is hella smart, but your typical nerd. So this change would be a nice addition to the series. That said, the Tom Holland series is annoying the actual F outta me because he reveals his identity to like....EVERYONE. Peter is more protective of his identity than just about anyone. Which is what made the Raimi series good, because while his identity is revealed, it is only revealed when he really has no choice. Tom's parker revealed himself to more people than your average New York Subway perv.
I liked it when it came out and always found it underrated, whereas I didn't like much the Reimi's trilogy as it came out and tough the first one particularly overrated from the start.
With the benefice of insight I now think have a more granular analysis of this: Remis's spiderman did in fact a great job of depicting Peter Parker as he is in the comics: as you put it an insecure nerd, but when it came to his alter ego I find it bland and missing a lot of the fundamental element of the character: Indeed Spiderman help Peter escape his insecurity and so his personality under the mask become exuberant and confident nothing of which I felt in the first movie. I might seems like a shallow consideration, but I had the impression I could count his one liner with one hand, and for me Spidey's wisecracking is an extremily defining trait of the character. Conversely your video opened my eyes on the fact that TAS represented Peter in a way very departed from the insecure nerd from the comics, but I found it did a far better job with Spiderman depiction.
As for your proposed change I think Ben's death is far too integral to the origin story of Spidey to change it, however interesting a story it would make this would not exactly be Spiderman any more. I think the aspect you nailed tough is that the film suffer from repeating an origin story, as you said they would have been better off putting it in a short flashback like way (even if this tend to lead to exposition creep). I even go further and think they short have skipped Peter's life as a high schooler and set him in his college years because thats exactly when he get to know Gwen in the comics, at a stage when he has indeed shed a lot of his insecurity and appear more confident even as Peter. I think part of the way they portrayed Peter stem from this: the dynamic with Gwen doesn't fit with high school Peter, but they had to follow through because down the line they wanted to get to the iconic scene of Gwen's death.
That would be so much better than what we got
If it wasn’t for TASM I would have never gotten into spider man, nor marvel. So I appreciate this movie more than Sam Rami’s
02:08 LMAO
I think I would have like The Amazing Spider-Man more if this actually happen.
What makes spider man a great character is that uncle Ben's death was his motivation if you take that away he is nothing but just a person who uses his power for his own use😶😶😶😶😶😶
There was no uncle ben in tom Holland spiderman but nobody seemed to care
@@justino2602 yep you are right.
A Spider-man movie where Uncle Ben did not die. It not a silly idea. Their Superman version stories where Jonathan Kent did not die; in fact he lived to see his adopted son put on the blue tights, the red boots and red cape
What Ryan said would’ve completely worked. In fact, it would be better. Thanks Ryan.
That's an awesome take!
Doug coming in hot to start the video! Sound logic and would have enjoyed the new take on spidey without responsibility vs ninja turtle spidey on a skateboard.
2:20 I spit out my soup, you bastard.
Wow your idea is very very good. Very untold story.
"Kevin Conroy is Batman" = LIKE! Oh wait, this is a Spider-Man video...
Another 2 changes that would make tasm movies better is that captain stacy gets injured instead of dying and gwen stay alive.
Damn. You nailed it
7:12 Ripped straight out of an episode of Blue Bloods
Both movies have very nice elements of the Spider-Man comic book. In fact, the Sam Raimi films are a LOT like the Spider-Man cartoon we used to watch in the 90s. You would be surprised as how many things in those movies that come almost directly from the cartoon. The Amazing Spider-Man was about to play very heavily on the comic book, and even the same cartoon, that totally set up, apparently for the next movie, what really happened to Peter's parents.
But the thing that I hated about all the Spider-Man movies, except the MCU version, was the fact that none of them accurately portrayed Peter Parker. MacGuire made Parker appear to be a whimpy, melodramatic mama's boy, the very opposite of Peter Parker. And for the people who's first real exposure to Spider-Man is the movie, this is acceptable because they don't know any better. They see the movie and think that this is Peter Parker, and if you say anything to this day unfavorable about the Sam Raima films, that MacGuire is no PeterParker, people will think you're crazy. And Garfield seemingly tried to bring back the comic book Peter Parker, but that was a failure.
Tom Holland's Peter Parker is good because he is a lot like the very early Spider-Man comic books. All the Spider-Man movies could have been better if they made only one change, present a more comic book accurate Peter Parker.
I think this change would have been great! Loved it.
Makes Sense
As a big fan of these movies, I'm all-in on trying this
I need to talk to your manager about this.
It happening again! I haven’t seen people come back to a series of movies and say it better than they thought since the prequels in Star Wars. Next thing you know people will start saying tasm and tasm 2 are the best spiderman movies.
Honestly tho, your remaking of this film would be an incredible ‘what if’ story.
Genies I never thought of that
Kevin Conroy IS Batman
You know Electro is coming into the MCU with Jamie Fox back in the role right?
Wow, nice Eurydice reference. I'll assume that's Doug's punch-up.
more videos please
I actually loved this movie until the villain arrived. The new Ben and May were so much better; I liked Andrew Garfield’s take on the character and his chemistry with Emma Stone was fantastic. She’s also a MUCH better love interest than Mary Jane was. The new change would have been interesting but I think where it really goes off the rails is with the villain. I imagine a movie where he is foe is Michael Keaton’s Vulture. That alone makes the movie better than a FOURTH consecutive villain who is the result of a science experiment gone wrong.
The entire movie should've been the first Spiderman comic, where Peter starts out as a nerdy kid and then gains spider powers. He starts to feel in control of his life and even win fame and money. But along the way he starts forgetting who he is and sees himself as being above others. His inaction leads to uncle Ben being killed and the movie ends with Peter becoming Spiderman the hero.
basically spiderman 1...sorry but you dont show something new
2:21 peter from family guy 🤣🤣❤️⚡️
I think we can all agree that Doug needs more screen time
I already love it.
I’d pay to see a reboot with that What If Story
Wow. That's a brilliant argument. I am completely won over. Am willing to drink flavoured beverage.
Sony was too scared.
I bet if you give them a contract for another spiderman film, the same shit would still happen
Guys, it’s in the Sony contract that they have to include the backstory every time, including Uncle Ben’s rice. I mean, death
Good change!
Sounds like a great series to me!
dougs polo is my favorite thing about this nerd show. its a great channel but look at his lil sleeves!!!
All hail the algorithm. Also mind-blowing possibility
Did this guy predict the Ultimate reboot?
Please make a video why Joaquin joker works and jared joker didn’t
while yes this is a interesting idea of sorts i dont think it will work with the tone the film was going for. It was going for a more gritty dark tone akin to Chris Nolan's batman and so this would have never worked. If you want a movie that actually did this go watch shazam its a great movie which has this exact concept. No i dont think it works here. I think mcu spiderman could do it considering its more younger actors and lighter tone otherwise go watch shazam
I like the Amazing Spider-Man the way it is. I kinda prefer it over Tobey's due to the fact that Andrew's incarnation of Peter isn't getting bullied by EVERYONE IN THE SCHOOL. Uncle Ben surviving would've made a nice change but I will not watch a Spider-Man film if the entire city hates him, including Gwen. We've already had that shit in Spider-Man: Unlimited where Jameson FINALLY manages to turn New York against him for thinking he was sabotaging John's rocket, when in reality he was trying to save it from Venom and Carnage. And I like Emma Stone but her version of Gwen isn't brainier than Peter as they're both on the same genius.
Doug for President 🇱🇷‼️
Love it.
Hey
I mean it’s pretty similar with the original Spider-Man movie , but the suit was pretty meh in average
How do you keep doing this?
Great bc his name is Amazing and it mskes sense
0:18 see! what did i tell u? the movie still have its good moments/scenes... and yeah it'd be more better if they kept uncle Ben alive. this video explains exactly what i thought about the movie the first time i saw it!
all hail the algorithm!
Multiverse-this version could still happen
i just realized you look like a german moderator, steven gätjen
cool
All hail...
I wish we saw this Andrews spiderman, in my opinion Andrews spiderman is better than Tom Holland
Doug said: “Your Mother”
I rewatched tasm recently and thought this is all bad Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is the only good thing to come out of them
your electro toy looks a lot like KSI 🤣
But if this did happen everyone would've still absolutly despised this movie it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't scenario
I gotta say- this pitch doesn’t sound like a “small change”, it’s a HUGE change that, in my opinion anyway, totally undermines what draws people to Spider-man in the first place. He NEEDS to be that nerdy, socially awkward, overlooked guy; the polar opposite of people like Tony Stark and so many others. His confidence and hilarious, talkative nature only really comes out when he can essentially hide behind his mask and he’s fighting criminals. Who wants to see a movie where the shy, lovable nerd is actually an extroverted asshole for the entire movie??? I would have walked out of the movie you’re pitching 15 minutes into it and demanded my money back.
Personally, I think Amazing Spider-Man should have basically picked up where Toby McGuire’s trilogy left off... but been a soft reboot, like we saw in the Incredible Hulk. Instead of giving us yet another Spider-man origin story, I would have loved to have seen the seasoned, veteran Spider-man, with his coffee table book full of pics of all the bag guys he’s beaten and the other heroes he’s fought alongside. I would have loved to have seen the COMIC BOOK intro to MJ where he met her on a blind date. After all, they did pick Andrew Garfield, a dude in his late 20’s, to play Spidey. We didn’t need another high school version of him. Let’s get the ACTUAL 20-something Spider-man who was in a relationship with MJ and struggling as a photographer for the Daily Bugle, a heavily biased “news” agency constantly pushing out fake news about Spider-man... using his own photographs to do it. That could have been a good story!
ALL HAIL
I'd totally watch this movie
Had me lost me had me again
all hail the algorythm
Not gonna lie, this is a terrible idea. It makes for a great ‘What If?..’ story but it completely changes the fabric of who Spider-man is. The reason why he never tracks down his uncle’s killer in the film is because of shifting motivations. After Ben dies he becomes dons the outfit and begins seeking vengeance which is not a very ‘Spider-Man’ thing to do and that’s the point. We see him begin to go down a dark path. He wants revenge. The reason why the dinner scene is so important is because Captain Stacey makes him realise that he’s been doing it all wrong. He is not a hero. He has been going after criminals who all look the same as part of some vendetta. A Hero is someone who helps others and not just themselves. That’s why the Bridge scene directly after this is the most important scene for his character. It’s the first time he saves someone else. Reuniting a child with their father. When he gives the boy the mask, it signifies himself realising that his symbol can inspire hope. He doesn’t go after the killer anymore because he no longer cares about revenge. That’s not what his uncle would’ve wanted. The bridge scene is the moment he becomes the hero we all know. It’s why when asked who he is, he responds for the very first time with “I’m Spider-Man”
2:20 hahhahaha ffs
