Just bought one and all i can say is this thing is a MONSTER. It wails, screams, rumbles and vibrates your house and soul at the same time. You won't be disappointed.
A TRUE musician can play on ANY size keys! The only thing inadequate in this case would be the individual playing the instrument! This Yamaha YC is BLAZIN'!! This guy did an OUTSTANDING job explaining the instrument!
Yes , just adding my 4 pence worth of opinion, this is the best demo of this amazing little machine , it's no toy & well worth the small price , a great addition to a keyboard set up, Of course if you can afford a Hammond XK5 & a big Leslie cabinet , you 'll be even happier . I wish i could have found this back in the 70s when I was broke . Maybe these days we don't appreciate how excellent technology is & the masses of great instruments available . So thanks Mr. Katsunori , your music speaks loud.
OK, I don't want to hear anyone else whining about the "mini keys." This cat is a true badass on this little machine, so if you can't cut it with mini keys, you probably can't cut it with normal keys. Talent will out.
Yeah, that's the thing. While I dislike the feel of some mini keys, and I appreciate a really good key feel, most talented musicians seem to just adapt to them and play the damn instrument. And they still manage to do it well. Good keys are easier to play, sure, but that doesn't stop talented people from using interesting instruments.
@Simon Lomax People feel threatened when something different challenges what they know. They see great musicians producing music on a relatively cheap, miniature instrument and feel uncomfortable with themselves.
Thank you so so much for including the transistor models in your demo! Most demos focus exclusively on the Hammond model, barely mentioning, (let alone playing), the transistor models. We are an under represented group 😀
This channel consistently provides the most thorough, informative, knowledgeable, best played and overall entertaining demos of instruments on UA-cam. The only thing he doesn't tell us is the negative points of the products. For that you have to check other reviews. Probably because he was a demonstrator of Yamaha products in the past, and an amazing one.
Out of all the reface models this is the one I'm most interested in mainly for the combo organ sounds...true that distortion is pretty much just static...I'd use this through an amp with external distortion for sure. Great review as always. Thanks!
+andy ronayne Yes, the subtitles on the other videos of the reviews of the reface keyboards worked fine, just not on this one, though they are working now thanks for telling me
WOOoooooooWWWW !!! Play that again !!! ,,, You sir are badass !!! Those chords rock !!! , lol,, All these awesome units you get, simply amazing :D Love the demo's, even without captions, I can follow ,, music is not limited to language, lol,, Looking forward to more ... !!!
Can one not just use a Roland fp 60x and the app from Roland to get these same pianos onto a full 88 weighted digital piano and get a much better ergonomics and feel on one of the fp 60x or 90x as one can on these? Hope someone can explain this for me! Thanks
Ya man! Rippin organ chops. I can see Yamaha's soon going after the Kronos by adding drawbar organ to a full size keyboard (finally!) and of course they will add all the modules and more.
Thank you! I tried it today at Steve`s in Montreal. I could not really try it fully. I think YOU sold me UJIIE San .......There was the vk8m last decade but too expensive and a stack. The vk8 was a keyboard. No combo. The first true mini B-3 Leslie complete emu. Took them 40 years. With a chaos pad, a Korg electribe, mixer, dvd/vynil, and that as a controling keyboard instead of a flat Korg. Its infinite.
Listen to this for a several minutes, and you will get tired. Then listen to even transistor Hammond. The sound of this organ is good, but it lacks something very important.
Hello Katsunori, is it possible to drive this beautiful thing via MIDI on 3 channels as an expander? Upper/Lower/Pedals with full 88 note range extension, to be controlled with a MIDI organ or splitted master keyboard? (And in that case are the various settings, like percussion/rotary/distortion ... available independently for each MIDI channel ?) Many thanks!
This organ sounds amazing. Why does it have such a small keyboard? If they had the foresight to think that an organist would want a few more keys, I'd be so into this.
Prof. M.Sc. Leonardo Dutra UEMG / UNA Well, yeah I could do but they also cost a fair bit more than the Yamaha. I appreciate the information though. Honestly, I can't afford either right now.
can you actually record your beat? like through the software/laptop or whatever im trying to become an music producer/beats dont know how it workers really
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIC , i love how japanese use the letter O in a lot of their words , reminds me a little bit of spanish or australian slang , japanese can be small sized but they can be super clever and cool , well this organo is very much like it too ...small package but so much soul and heart it will make your head explode of wowness lol
"You could never hold down these keys on a full size" ... Oh yeah. I love you Ujiie-San, but sorry, yes, we can. No problem playing for example this particular G13 voicing RH: F B E A on my Yamaha Grand. I guess size matters ;)) Not really though, your playing is very nice, I'm just kidding. Keep em comin, them great reviews.
Hi like this organ keyboard and into hammond organ keyboard and orange amps and sg Gibson and Dean v guitar and love music favorite bands is deep purple and black sabbath my name latrell .
Ok, isn't this a Yamaha YC wannabe? why do you spend so much time playing the hammond sound?, I was looking for something that shows me how it sounds compared to a real YC organ, and you played only 8 secs the yamaha sound, didn't change the drawbars, only with hammond option, thats disgusting.....seems like hammond pay for the demonstration...
That distortion sound sounds like crap. This is nothing like the original YC organs. It's a joke in comparison. I think it's actually trying to be another, on the bandwagon of B-3 imitators (much worse than most of the others). That said, Katsunori's playing is amazing! When can we see a transcription of his improvising on one of these videos? His playing was the one redeeming feature.
I don't like the sound of the Hammond, it feel very sinthetic and cheap, also the distortion sound like a crappy white noise. Buy the VB3 II and a little MIDI controller for a less money and you will be done
Just bought one and all i can say is this thing is a MONSTER. It wails, screams, rumbles and vibrates your house and soul at the same time. You won't be disappointed.
Hahah... my exact thoughts... the thing is in the mail... cant wait to crank it up !!!
Can it play church organ with deep bass?
@@lenny108 I don't recall if it has church organ sounds, but yes it has deep bass for any sound you choose
@@neoaureus same here man , i cant wait
This is by far, THE BEST and MOST informative video clip of the Yamaha YC that I've seen on UA-cam to date! Thanks for posting!
I second that.
Seriously, this guy is an amazing demonstrator. And all done in a single take lol
A TRUE musician can play on ANY size keys! The only thing inadequate in this case would be the individual playing the instrument! This Yamaha YC is BLAZIN'!! This guy did an OUTSTANDING job explaining the instrument!
A true musician can play any size keys, that doesn't mean they want to tho. don't like small keys =/= can't play small keys
Have you seen him "kill it dirty" on the Korg Volcas?
Yes , just adding my 4 pence worth of opinion, this is the best demo of this amazing little machine , it's no toy & well worth the small price , a great addition to a keyboard set up, Of course if you can afford a Hammond XK5 & a big Leslie cabinet , you 'll be even happier . So thanks Mr. Katsunori , your music speaks loud.
You are such a skillful musician. Your demo videos are excellent because you really utilize these instruments and their sounds with your playing.
It’s amazing how you made all the organ settings sound like a door song, I love it!
OK, I don't want to hear anyone else whining about the "mini keys." This cat is a true badass on this little machine, so if you can't cut it with mini keys, you probably can't cut it with normal keys. Talent will out.
No you just don't know the difference between quality coming from a real organ compared to this toy.
you tried Chris. But this thing is a MONSTER, enough that i wouldn't need to know the "difference between quality" even if I didn't.
Chris Gutierrez: "This channel doesn't have any content" You don't know the difference between talking and doing.
The Hammond sound alone would sell this magic machine.
Very good video, really talented artist. Thank you!
Thank you so so much for including the transistor models in your demo! Most demos focus exclusively on the Hammond model, barely mentioning, (let alone playing), the transistor models. We are an under represented group 😀
Best review of the unit on UA-cam, thank you again for great demos.

The only thing he doesn't tell us is the negative points of the products. For that you have to check other reviews. well he don't tell any negative of any products, not only yamaha.
but it's easy. He didn't show 'that' feature, means 'that' feature isn't there.
All of Katsunori UJIIE's demos are fabulous!
These Reface demos have introduced me to your channel, and I absolutely love the videos! I'm definitely sticking around for more!
Out of all the reface models this is the one I'm most interested in mainly for the combo organ sounds...true that distortion is pretty much just static...I'd use this through an amp with external distortion for sure. Great review as always. Thanks!
English sub-title is available now !!
+musictrackjp It doesn't appear here, but it's a good run through demonstration of the keyboard anyway. Thanks :)
I've seen subtitles since they released it, have you turned captions on?
+andy ronayne Yes, the subtitles on the other videos of the reviews of the reface keyboards worked fine, just not on this one, though they are working now thanks for telling me
You don't even need to understand Japanese - this is the most dynamic demonstration of this keyboard that I have seen. Thank you!
Unbelievably good. Loved every single second of this!
WOOoooooooWWWW !!! Play that again !!! ,,, You sir are badass !!!

Love the demo's, even without captions, I can follow ,, music is not limited to language, lol,,

Around 11:15 I almost wouldn't be surprised if the YC burst into flames! This cat can play!
Truly amazing demo! I feel inspired to get out there and make some music!
But you never will. We never do . We just watch gear vids all day and night.
That is awesome, thank you so much! Your enthusiasm is infectious, this is the best demo of YC I've seen by far! 😀👍
Great video. Best explanation of drawbars ever and you play very well!!!!
archivestereo I had no idea how drawbars worked until this and man you’re right. Fantastic explanation
Best demo of the Yamaha YC! Thank you!
This is the one I'm most excited about. A lot lighter than lugging my kurzweil!
will this organ make me play like you?
Synth's are all good in their own way. A great synth should inspire you,as i'm sure they do.
🤩 すばらしい ! Wow, bravo 👏🏼

I got the CP and YC this year. I can play every keyboard part on any song before 1980. 😂
Wow this machine is great, but the player is amazing!
Ya man! Rippin organ chops. I can see Yamaha's soon going after the Kronos by adding drawbar organ to a full size keyboard (finally!) and of course they will add all the modules and more.
Yamaha will have to work alot harder to better the korg Kronos.
Agreed! But they usually come out with guns a'blazing after Korg once again outshines them lol.
they should have put the YC pitch ribbon slider on this guy-- that would have made it something special
sounds much better than it looks.
Looks much better than it sounds.
Can you connect it to some bigger keyboard to have full size keybed to play on?
Yes, via MIDI cable.
Love it. I don't speak any Japanese. But I understand you well!! :)
No "SPACIOUS SOUND" switch? They missed an important detail :)
praise the LAAaaWWD
This was so useful, thanks!
8.10 what song?
thx for a great demo.
if i had the money then would buy it.
Does a sustain pedal work for this?
It has an expression pedal input for foot volume control (organ expression).
Fantastic playing!!
Nice demo - thanks!

Great demo!
8:05 Cone on baby, light my fire
Is it just me or distortion does not sound appealing?
no, not appealing AT ALL!
Listen to this for a several minutes, and you will get tired. Then listen to even transistor Hammond. The sound of this organ is good, but it lacks something very important.
whitestork The distortion sounds way better in other demos. That said, even if it didn’t featured distortion it’s a very impressive sound module.
I really want too get one but the price is a little much, also it's easily 100 dollars cheaper in Europe and Japan when it comes out there.
This small beast can compete with Roland VR-09 Combo..

+孫志貴(冰海之心) Thanks.
Andro Umeda Your welcome.
I think it can be driven simultaneously on one MIDI channel.

You can have Rachmaninoff hands on these mini-key monsters. Another selling point, I guess. This makes me think of Chick Corea's 70s Yamaha organ.
Ya lo venden en bogota colombia

Buy a VR-09!!

This comment is 7 years late...but you can hook this up to a larger keyboard via MIDI.
@@fortheloveofnoise Yeah but you'd have to really. Why even include this thing? I guess just to match the others.
My god, this is not a toy 😍🙄

Why can’t anyone just make a full sized affordable keyboard like this?
cullen cavanaugh They did. Two companies in fact. One is the Crumar Mojo 61. The other is the Viscount Legend Live.
MIDI cable is your friend

IF YAMAHA can create this why are their ORGAN SOUNDS so FAR BEHIND everyone elses ? I hate the MOTIF XF organ sounds and the LESLIE SIM SUCKS.
