    Thanks Tango for getting the VODs up so quickly. I struggle to keep up with the speed of the Livestream and being able to pause the VOD, think about different Redstone solutions, game design concepts, etc., really teaches me so so much! I'm also just amazed, humbled, and awed by how great everyone in this community is. People in this comment section are super smart and kind. Thanks everyone for sharing great ideas with me and considering some of the ones I've tossed out as well. Love you all!

      There would need to be a system implimented to not make the fox mess with the pressure plate and the minecart and the dog. Also to remove its items idk if that would be possible

    The flood doesn’t have much of an effect you can immediately see. But just like in Plateup, anything that increases your travel time to deliver food to customers adds up.

    I love the HC Community! This game has a leaderboard competition, and yet other hermits are always offering hints and tips to players to help them. It’s absolutely heart warming!

    A round robin event for this would be great, every day a new person is swapped in and when people die, it’s like a full week shifts at a restaurant. Different teams having to deal with the previous day shift’s set up or jumping in to help after an employee leaves for medical emergency (dies)

    It’s so nice to hear that we can still support you even if we can’t catch the live streams!
    I’m a teacher and streams are usually while I’m still at work or just coming home. However, one of my favorite things to do while writing an IEP or something other thing during my plan time or after work is to put a vod up on my second monitor on mute, and play music in another tab. It really helps with my anxiety and ADHD. I don’t feel alone but I can stay focused on my work. I really appreciate you putting content out that people can just vibe to. I mean I’m literally listening to this while doing laundry.

    For the lore, kinda like the freezer, you could say "For health and safety reasons,......"" for the farm cause like eww don't put food for customers in dirt after you prepare it. Like thats a rule in bakeries and what not. Cause then there is some intution for the players and it feels more like a realism feature rather than a balance change

      There's a problem because if you wanna farm wheat or beetroot, you need bonemeal, seeds, and the crop. That's three item stacks, and you only get two slots. It would be impossible to pick up the crop. Maybe you can make a rule about not throwing food down after picking it up? But I think that's kinda janky and also everyone's gonna forget about it.

    Crafter rule: you may put whatever you please in the crafter. But you cannot take anything out of it. Only once its crafted it gets spat out.
    Simple, self enforcing and makes juggling costly.

    A possible expansion/ rework of the cooking/ flood systems:
    Swap the campfire for a couple furnaces. Have a way to replenish fuel (Remote ordering terminal if space is available? Or a "wood pile" out back?). Then, set up a timer to read how long items remain in the furnaces past the allowed "cooking times"; if time exceeds a set point, then the items are disposed of by normally locked hoppers below, and are treated as "burnt".
    "Burnt" food activates the flood system, which THEN requires shutting off the main valve. If you want to be benevolent, part of the cooking timer could trigger a fire alarm prior to the flood, similar to how the current alert system works.
    Possitives:
    1. Cooking becomes a resource management task;
    2. Time management becomes a greater factor now, because, not only do you lose the items, you also trigger an obstacle upon failure;
    3. The flood system is now consequential (predictable) rather than random, tying into other major game functions;
    4. You can justify being able to turn off the flood since it is no longer a task, but instead a consequence to clear.
    Negatives:
    1. More work;
    2. Limits on space for extra noodles;
    3. May impact game pacing negatively when balanced with other tasks (Though this is offset by flooding no longer being an active task and furnaces cooking faster than the campfire counterpart).

      I think there is a rule against "cheeky" placing of items, like on top of things that shouldn't have items on them to prevent
      Because technically nothing stops you from using the serving tables as counter space

      I mean, counters are still convenient because of how close to the kitchen they are. The farm only has space, not speed or convenience

      ​@@Yau_G.R. it used to be true that nothing stopped people from using the serving tables as a place to put items. But Tango fixed that awhile ago. What you see is just the fancy covering via armor stands. The actual block that is there is a hopper. So, if you toss items on those tables then they get picked up by rats.

      @@Yau_G.R. serving tables are armor stand on a hopper similar to the counter on the kitchen, so they can't. also I think you are allowed to throw items from the farm in the ground. farm area have no mincart (rat system) and tango did not comment on that as not allowed.

    Upgrade idea: an upgrade that when the day ends one/two non restaurant food (ie: steak, mushroom soup) will drop in the lobby giving them a saturation boost before starting the day

    3:20:00 I think you could just forbid taking Items out of the crafter. You wouldn't be able to store items in it that wouldn't be used to craft eventually. Additionally it would introduce a cost to storing multiple items in the crafter because you would have to use up all the ingredients before you can craft another recipe.

    The point made by Pearl and Etho in the end about having to stack bonemeal and dog treats are valid, but the same can be said for quite some non-farm items, like cookies, sugar, beetroots, gold nuggets etc. That’s part of the challenge: are you storing an item on a valuable itemframe shell, holding a stack of items in your hotbar, risking it all by dropping some on the ground to quickswap while farming or crafting stuff. I liked chat’s idea for the mud bricks on the farm because it introduces no new mechanics and it doesn’t dictate a play style. It also makes the early game a bit more challenging and hectic and the late game doesn’t really suffer because you should have plenty of item frames by then.
    Also, there are multiple places with item slots (barrels in the farm, crafter) and the general rule don’t use any GUI-inventory slots other than the ones in your hotbar to store stuff is REAL simple.
    Lastly: I think devs shouldn’t adjust their game to 100% bullet proof speedrunners, and Tango shouldn’t adjust his too much just for the two or three really, really good players. Some stuff gets abused and then patched, but too much ‘well, hypothetically this could lead to X which is overpowered’ discussions will just end up in a lot of rules, hacky solutions, hall monitoring by chat and fixes for problems that might not be actual problems. Let the top tier gamers prove they can abuse something before patching the exploit I’d say, and keep the rules simple and mostly naturally embedded in the game (so in stead of ‘no dropping items’, there’s rats that will enforce)

      what are you talking about, nothing hes fixed has been to bullet proof the game from speed running. the F is speed running in HH anyway? And the clarification of the rules wasn't for the hermits, it was to hopefully prevent certain types of people in their chats and comments from being annoying.

      Regarding your last point, Tango has made this game primarily as a social game for his friends, as well as a good source of content for them. So he has to manage demand to play the game as well, and a ludicrous high score that's only possible by abusing certain mechanics could be a definite turn-off to some Hermits. This game is inherently less competitive/more social than Decked Out, so it's not as important, but I'm sure it's a factor Tango is considering. The social aspect should really help mitigate those issues, for example I really hope to see Keralis and xB play this together at some point, although IDK that they will be a huge threat for high scores. That said, higher-scoring games do take longer, which could cause issues with throughput, unless Tango finds a way to balance a 3-player mode.

    you could add a filtered minecart that goes round the farm, fill in 5 slots with different banned product in each slot. Maybe have 2 that go round and prioritise the crafted items

    Personally I think a minecart should just run and clear the farm floor and the crafter should auto empty into the trash at the end of a day. I think that would be enough to stop people from storing too much in the ground.

    I think death makes you not able to continue for that day is fine and they can join the day after. Dying is already a penalty for the other person and if the person in the kitchen able to finish that round just think of it as a new employee

    I'm not sure how much you read these comments. But I have to strongly disagree with Etho re: dying during a run. I would argue that if you die, you can go back in at the beginning of the next day. This isn't a survival horror game. It's a tense cooking strategy game. If you're worried about people dying to reset food, not being able to come in til the next day negates any benefits that dying would give you. If you're worried about people coming back in without relocking, they're more likely to remember if they have to wait out the day without the stress of trying to get back in and keep the run going. It's fairly common in multiplayer games for death to only temporarily disadvantage the run because the point is for you to play the game with your friends, not sit there and watch them play by themselves because of bad luck.

    55:50 Powering both those droppers is going to cause problems when you get two pulses directly after another. So the exact same situation you were trying to fix.
    The right dropper will kick an item over on the first pulse. On the second the right one will kick another one over, but the left one will also kick one back, leaving you one item short.

    Idea for emergency melons/ pumpkins, use the old system that you had for the trash pots. (that you have to keep a button pressed for some time to get an item). Alternatively have a pressure plate that you have to stand on for 10-15 seconds to get one, that way it is so slow that it shouldn't be the default option and getting other foods for personal consumption would be faster.
    Just a minor recommendation, make the blocks that surround the water for the crops glass blocks, to avoid any accidents.
    If two customers are served in such a way that the piston that sets the timer for checking for the correct food is only pressed once, would that mean that players could get a free pass for an incorrect food as the correct food hopper gets two items but only one signal to drain it is sent? This is not game breaking as it is a benefit to the player and quite obscure.
    Similarly, if the two droppers that were installed in the correct food system get a signal when one item is already in the second one would not have two items as both would fire for a net 0 exchange. The could lead to the same bug?
    I love that the hermits managed to find so many different ways to die. Just watching the different pairings and how they play is so great.
    I know that this would be technically difficult, but if hermits struggle to get to day 8 after a lot of tries, introducing some way to get two upgrades in a day (possibly for some other penalty or long task during the day? (spend points?)) could help as for the later days you almost need a lot of the upgrades to survive but have no way of getting enough of them in time for when you need them. (more bonemeal for beetroot soup, faster crafting for cake and honey, item frames for storage, inventory slot and such). I think that it is an interesting idea but it would require quite a few changes to the current system.
    I also love the game discussion that you had at the end with Etho and Pearl, just hearing the thoughts and considerations are very interesting to listen to.

    i had an idea about the water hazard: what about theres a chance, like 25%, of water hazard comes with a pufferfish. you can still take the 75% chance when it is desperate, but still pulling pufferfish is too much of a risk and annoyance to ignore. the issue is, picking it up with water bucket then put it in a bin, seems too much. so im still not sure

    Idk if they'll see this, but for the people who make the Armor Statues data pack, here's an idea to help people use books in item frames and avoid the kinds of issues that Tango struggles with. Please keep in mind that idk how it works 'under the hood' and so the suggestion might not be feasible.
    Have a specific block (something rarely used in builds ideally) that acts as a 'blocker' in the same way that wool acts to block "vibrations" from being detected by skulk sensors.
    This is just an idea, and I don't know if it's possible without some horrendous overhaul of systems, so please just consider it a suggestion from an outsider. Love the data pack btw and have used it a ton in my own builds. So, thanks for even making it!

    1:40:31 What if there was a system to exchange a pumpkin for a melon, or something of similar value like food from the game/ordering terminal and trade that for a melon or pumpkin, assuming one or the other has not grown and is needed.

    For the death issue, a "easy" solution could be that the teamate would have to pay a certain amount of food to let someone rejoin the game. It creates a new event, it creates a buffer timer for people to remember relocking and prevents people dying for reseting hunger.

    A low priority update could be to mix in other Hermit's moans in the current Tango-only records (like today's from Cleo).

    2 things
    firstly, the music is so dang good! I've been listening to it on spotify too!
    secondly, whenever you stream I'm refreshing all the time waiting for the VOD to be uploaded the next day!!!

    How about adding hopper minecarts/rats to the farming area, while also providing some more chests for specific items like beetroots, bonemeal or wheat. Then you can store your farming items in these chests. The rest can not be stored there and will get picked up by the rats.

    "Items may only be removed from the crafter by crafting."
    That is a simple rule, which has the natural side effect of making it so that you only ever put item in the crafter when you are working towards crafting, but doesn't have the time component and so doesn't have the open-to-interpretation problem.

    An idea to make the flood more punishing - could it also lock the two doors to the kitchen (to 'prevent water damage') forcing them to go past the freezer and take a longer route to the kitchen.

    Think the farming is really hard as there is a cool down how many dog treats you can give the dog is enough! so no need for rat collection!

    So, if you still have an extra upgrade slot available, what about giving the farmer a wooden shovel with a low-level fortune enchantment? The way I understand it, harvesting crops with any sort of fortune tool applies the effect, so you can get a bit more beetroot or wheat out of each harvest.

    Not sure if it would be possible but in higher rounds it would be cool if customers wanted multiple items like : water bottle and steak, golden carrot and glistening Mellon. I am not sure if it’s possible or if it would make things too hard but I thought it would be a cool idea. Either way love watching your content tango! Keep it up man.

    Having two customers drop at the same table: delaying release of customers will not solve the problem no matter how much you add delay - it will always come down to the time between the players pressing the button. Better is to have a trip wire on the entrance to drop hole. Once the trip wire is triggered it won’t let another customer enter the stream for a short period of time (trapdoor block) - then solved.

      @4203105 Yeah but they can't store other items, unlike a barrel. Also now they can drop farm items in the farm, so (you take from the crafter, not storing)
      And it's guaranteed not despawning as it's in an inventory. (But limited one).

    could the door to the restaurant have a delay of 5 seconds, and have dispensers around that shoot locks into the players inventory, they will be on the hotbar, and the players will see them and just have to remember to spread them out. being forcefully given the locks will remove the need to remember to grab them

    3:22:18 maybe on death, when you respawn you get splashed with a instant damage 2 potion, so you loose health, and once you recover, you loose most of your hunger. And a hopper minecart crashing into a amethist could instant drop the right number of locks for the respawing player. Sucks that you have to make a death room and force sleeps tho

    I really believe the reliance on unwritten rules will always create hall monitoring because viewers, chatters, and commentators can't keep up with all the changes. With Hermitcraft being Vanilla+ (mods like armor stands, etc), there should be a mod that only be used for concrete fixes that would normally be used as "honor rules." I don't know what that looks like, but the problem was bad during DO2 and it's becoming bad again with HH.

    if you want to encourage players to leave the game asap, you could introduce a secondary score for tardiness that is a tie breaker. So there is some pressure to leave. Either 2 seperate scores like emeralds and clocks. Or a subtractive element to score

    Ever considered having two upgrades at the end of the day? Especially interesting if you add a couple more minor upgrades (like a second cauldron). The upgrade you don't choose does not (or has a lower chance to) come back for the rest of that game (if you let the game choose, it's random). A reroll is a lot more interesting if you have two minor upgrades to choose from and you really want to see one of the bigger ones.

    I think that points for serving last customer wont added to final score ( you did fix that before but now it takes longer to add score). so you need to extend the time for chest mincart before it leave.
