Thanks for that one Jay. I've had to go back to body boarding after 45 yrs of longboarding. Shoulders are kinda shot. Had a friend make a board and been riding it at cocoa beach when the waves are big enough. Drop knee was and is harder than it looks. But face planting so much has helped keep me humble, your video has been a big inspiration to keep at it.thanks so much for that.
Thanks for the comment Robert. It's great to hear that you are enjoying your bodyboard. Anything that we can help with, just drop us a line at Bodyboard Holidays - bodyboard-holidays.com/
I've just turned seventy, and transitioned from stand-up to bodyboard over the last 12 months, (problems with hips and knees, and popping up), and I've got to say I'm really loving it, and I think I've gotten more waves now then ever. But I'm really keen to try drop knee. I'm back in the gym working on my knees and hips, so hopefully I'll be doing dropknee real soon.
Superb advice as always. Please make a Jay Reale tribe board in 44" I reckon theyd sell like hotcakes....id buy one today! 43 a tad small for my frame. Cheers!
Guys does the leash have to be on a specific side in relation to the foot in front when riding DK ? I only ride prone until then and i want to try DK but i'm used to leash on right arm and i'm goofy when surfing.. thanks !
I ride regular foot with leash on my right arm with the leash plug off-center to the right. If I were goofy-footed, I'd do the opposite. Otherwise, my front foot would hit the leash plug. Installing the plug in the center would be less obtrusive, but I would prefer installing off-center to be even less in the way. Of course you always have to be mindful about not stabbing the stringer.
@@bodyboard_holidays I recently got back from a trip to Hawaii. It was my long and baggy shorts that constantly got caught on my knees and restricting movement. When I wore my short shorts, it was MUCH easier to get my forward leg onto the board. Despite barely bodyboarding these days, I swear it's like riding a bike.
Once you can drop knee it’s time to keep progressing and buy a surfboard. Standing on a wave is vastly more fun and rewarding. I used to bodyboard when learning to read waves, couldn’t believe how liberating it was to access so much more wave face and energy / speed on a board.
Jay, I’ve been a big fan since a grom. I’m 53 this year and appreciate the tips.
Right on! Glad to hear it!

Are those fins you're wearing the Tribe T1???
Yes, you can buy them on ebodyboarding.com - they are great fins, particularly if you have wide feet.
What about the MS fins for dk, are they good?
They are super fast or paddling and quite boxy in shape so they should be great for DK.
Still gutted i missed him and stewert in Harbour Sports in the 90s.
A momentous occassion, I recall that visit well! - Rob
That guy its a god. Love it.
Effortless style!
Top🤙
Good....thks
No worries, enjoy the knee!
@@BodyboardSchool is It better BB a little bit bigger than we use as a prone?
AS I get older, I find getting the front leg in forward enough a struggle as my flexibly is more limited.
Keep on moving! ✌

Thanks for sharing. It’s certainly beneficial to be able to ride both 🤙🏻
