- Go inside the cockpit of an F18 over the Shores of Lake Michigan for the Sunday performance of the 2016 Chicago Air and Water Show.
Special Thanks to Pearl Jam for allowing us to use "Wishlist", "I'm Open" and "Untitled". It is cool that they allow people to use their music. I can't tell you how many people have told me that "Untitled" is now one of their favorite songs.
Also, thanks to Herb Hunter, the longtime/famous announcer for the air show and additional thanks to WBBM radio for letting me borrow their voices for the benefit of this video.

U.S. Navy TAC DEMO
Great views of the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) and Navy Pier and the Ferris Wheel.
Will be great to see the Blue Angels in 2017 - Наука та технологія
Absolutely A-Mazing! THE most Epic Demo I've ever seen. I grew up going to this airshow, missed it this year. So, this was so well done it felt like I was there and was like I always imagined flying it if I were flying for my home town CHICAGO and my family. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Every single moment of this was captivating, and eye watering. Simply wonderful.... I can't find anymore words to describe the emotions this made me feel.
Richard,
So glad you liked the video...it was a lot of fun to see it from Toby's perspective---as well as the perspective of the fans, the announcers, the maintainers, staff at Gary International Airport, etc...its a great weekend...Thanks for Watching.
Cheers

Excellent video, thank you so much for sharing this with us. Amazing piloting skills. Thankfully Northrop and McDonnell Douglas came together in the mid 70's to build this iconic aircraft. Whoever the original employees were at Nothrop on the YF-17, at McDonnell Douglas throughout the 80's and 90's, and of course at Boeing with the Super Hornet must be very proud of this aircraft.
Incredible video footage, and incredible editing! Thank you for posting this!
This is one of the best "jet" video's I have seen. The skyline with the sky and cloud and water color's are fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s amazing seeing these guys fly in person during air and water show
Gay ass music
Most excellent!!!!! Thanks for sharing this. In 2006 I was working at the Bank One/JP Morgan Chase building in the loop and was able to see the air show from the roof. What an experience looking DOWN at the planes!
Just amazing! An unreal perspective and great view of Chicago.
Beautiful video....i like how the cockpit view shows just how much the roll, pitch, and yaw turn on a dime. we see them fly through the air so gracefully but each slight movement is just that- so slight and pronounced
Fantastic footage! best ever seen on youtube, and what a great performance, respect man awesome experience, thanks so very much for uploading this :D
This is awesome. I went this year and its amazing to see these pilots do the things they love.
Great stuff! I was at this airshow in 2016 and it's so awesome seeing this footage from the cockpit! Thanks for your service too!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wilson this video was very moving for me as well . How proud his family must be and frankly I'm proud as well . My hearts yours military and military family.
Great Video, music selection but more importantly flying. Makes me sleep better at night knowing you and your team are standing watch. Thank you very much for your service!!!!! Be safe!
Awesome. See you fly in my home state is beyond cool.
I love the video having both perspectives! Really awesome!! Good job pilot!
Thank you sir for your hard work growing up, your love of our country, and for defending all of us. You sir, are a hero! From the bottom of my heart, I salute you! -Stephen, Ohio 🇺🇸
What a great footage. It really makes fun watching the video. Thank you !
A dream to fly in one of these. This is the closes Ive ever seen with camera angles as if I was in the FA-18 Great job, So Proud of our Men and Women Serving for our Protection and event entertainment, Like this.
AMAZING!!!! Love the sound track! You guys are studs!
Terrific video and editing. The music was very appropriate.
AWESOME , please do more videos like this. ! 😍👏 Thank you. !
Great job Toby. Thank you for your service Shipmate 🇺🇸 FLY NAVY ⚓
Outstanding video. Props!
This City Never L@@ked better!! Thank You for sharing this Amazing Experience!!!!
sky doesn't seem as large when you can move like that... very nice!! 👍
Amazing video!
This could have been amazing.
That fly over the buildings is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI, Untitled is now one of my favorite songs!
incredible music video wow
AWesome video. Do you have this video without all edited zooming in? Just the straight in cockpit footage? That would be great to just be able to watch it as is.
faster than Ricki Bobby! Nice work with the clouds dude....
Love this video
Anyone who used older versions of Flight Simulator recognizes this as the area where the default airport Meigs Field used to be.
Yeah, I know I'm a geek. :)
That imbecile Rich Daley----thinking that tearing up a runway late Sunday night is something nobody would notice. WTF....did he assume we're all in bed asleep by 9pm? The FAA fined the city (taxpayers, ultimately) $33,000 for that stunt.
I was in John Hancock tower in 1985.
What a cool job.
FCS grid looked clean. Nice to have no X's when doing a demo. Had a few in my day!
GREAT POV STUFF ...
I still love the legacy hornet! It’s a 4.5 gen aircraft with all the upgrades
aboslutely fantastic in every way
Hey Paul, Glad you liked it!
Great video!
Super video! You are brave.
Great Video !
so glorious, I'm jelly
Beautiful Flying, so jealous over here.
What that must feel like, awesome!👍💥🇺🇸
After watching documentaries about SR 71 and Mig 31, all other jets appeared as if they are toys.
One HELUVA Demo!!! GREAT RIDE!!! Thx TOBY!!! Thx Wilsondmwjr!!!
Oh my gosh, the person who did the video had Untitled come at the right time. The announcer said "Thank you very much, thank you very much" and then Untitled comes on.
must not be able to fly over downtown really cutting the mustard thanks for share...........a n wrong just went by sears tower
Good job and safe too.
Incredible! That pilot really knows how to fly.
Wilderness Field Journal the difference in his display frequency and the video speed.
Very good edit, sir!
Thanks!
I feel like I can see the shape of the earth
I’m am now a Pearl Jam fan! Thank you
What a video! What a beautiful city. What a great lake and great clouds and great sunshine! I envy the great aviator. Loved commentary. But music was a distraction. Great video. Go Navy! And USAF!
I love America
This is awesome, go toby
that awesome view of the greatest city and skyline in the world! *CHICAGO!!!!!*
Chiraq*
That too, only worse.
Nice video!
FOD CHECK!! 6:46
What a great video; the editor should be very proud!
FOD?
Foreign object debris
Ah. Thanks.
Silence and therefore less cuts
Love the f-18
🔖🇺🇲 : Toby you are a turly "TOPGUN!" Amazing aviation flying, 💯💯💯point on point 💯💯💯👍✌ (Epic)
When looking out the canopy, at times it's hard to believe he's going about 500 knots, *but that's fast enough, to rip the meat right of your bones if you stuck your arm outside.*
I am still thinking about what I should do.
Be a pilot or a post man , what do you guys think?
Why not both? :)
Go Navy!!!!
Those graphics are OP, what game?
How lucky to be a skilled fast jet pilot. If only
Anyone know why the DDIs cycle like that? It seems to change too fast to get any real information from.
Barry Crane, they don’t cycle. It’s the difference in frame rates of the camera and ddi. Irl not doing that. To the pilot it’s just stays the same
That's rock star!
you were flying so high and far away
I miss the Legacy Hornet already!!
FA-18 , Pearl Jam 👌
Would aviators have used Glenview as base or was it shut down then? From where did they fly in? Thanks.
They took off from Gary. Glenview has been shut down for many years now…
Bad music always comes with good videos.
Fantastic music
hay!!!!!
I never flew a F-18 in shorts in my thirty years. HAMBONE aka Pickle.
I really should have tried harder at school!! :-)
so nice , 649
I’d rather be able to hear the sounds of this fa18 beautiful piece of technology
Aquele rolêzinho depois que o capitão da aquela saidinha hehe
Awesome video. Any chance of uploading this without the music, but with the original audio? (if there is any!)
Sorry...there was no audio......plenty of people don't like the pearl jam but to me, listening to nothing would have been worse... thanks for watching
wow 521 and 648. This video is worth 10 million dollars easy. i am very serious.
I turned off the minute the music started. Why do people insist on ruining good videos with crappy misic.
I agree 100%. It is a youtube sickness. Such a shame. Give us radio chatter, comments from the pilot or ATC or just Jet noise but puhlese NO MORE LAME MUSZAK !!!
I'm with you. Who needs the nonsense when you're watching this. Over produced is as bad as under produced.
Snap I did the same soon as I heard the wank music
And you can hear the air show promoters playing Danger Zone. Another fail.
There should be a video of the same show from the pilot's POV without music and only cockpit sounds. Look for it i'm sure you' ll find it!
I love Aircraft vids. In this case, you would think the pilot who is flying a multimillion dollar machine would be given a better helmet than a jazzed up colored duct tape lid. Lol
I was at the Gary Jet Center. Did the pilot have family and friends that lived near.
Yes, Pilot grew up in Northern Suburb....attended New Trier, then Naval Academy...
Will you be at the Chicago airshow this year? If so, looking forward to seeing you at the Gary Chicago airport.
Pfiftyone Mustang --- hey, not sure yet if I will head down there this year. My brother in-law not flying the show this year as he has rotated to different squadron and no longer has the chance to occasionally fly the shows. Are you planning to be down there?
Wilsondmwjr Yes. I live in Indy, originally from Hammond
Hey dad
Whats the first song title?
เก่งมากครับ
God Bless Our Aviators who keep us safe!
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
-John Gillespie Magee Jr. High Flight
There's Literally no F-14 airshows in Chicago videos on You Tube !?
haha im in this squadron at the moment. I work on these very aircraft.
Bryan, thank you for your service! So cool to see the work that you guys do...amazing
nice 521
General admission membership at science of industry free day for classes asmr
One question, why is the right MFD scrolling screens?
scarecrow _, it’s not. It’s the difference in frame rates between the camera and ddi. To the pilot, it’s not doing that
@@nlowry8 cool, thanks!
I want that commentator during my sexual expedition "ladies and gentlemen he is now mounting and will shortly begin the thrusting, its now been exactly 1 and a half minutes and......and....and....ladies and gentlemen he has begun the dismount. Jonny, did he just come?.....Yes Ron looks like he has come in exactly 1 minute and 45 seconds, that is a new record ladies and gentlemen..."
Это круто!
yea its loud.. but if you want to hear real thunder tell the navy to break out one of those tomcats..
cool vid, what i want to do
