    Hey folks! Thanks for watching and hitting that like button! 11/2021 update: I did have one major issue recently around 35k miles. While riding, my ABS light would turn on while the speedometer and odometer stopped working. It would happen periodically, until finally stayed that way. Months of troubleshooting. Finally determined it was the ABS Module. Very expensive part, but found one used. Hope this helps if any fellow F800 riders have this problem!

      @HowlingMouse999 4 місяці тому

      My dash did the same. The ABS light would flash and the Speedo and rev counter then shut down. In my case the rectifier/regulator had failed therefore feeding an over voltage to the dash. It seems the dash was shutting down to protect itself. A replacement used Rec/Reg sorted it out.

    six years in on one of these. Best bike I have had in 40 years. One word: Torque.

    I know this video is old but I still have mine. Admittedly don’t ride much at all any more. This was my upgrade after my 620 Monster. Absolutely love this bike!

    Thank you for the review. Having never ridden a bigger (than 150cc) twin engine, I was worried about vibrations since I was coming to this bike from an inline 4. But the vibrations are not any worse, while the torque improvement is great!
    More importantly, thank you so much for the book recommendation! I just borrowed it from my library and the first few pages have been very engaging. I love the band so I can't wait to get an intimate look inside their lyricist's mind.

    Great review. Thanks!
    I’ve been riding a 2007 ST for a few years now and I love it. It’s pretty light and nimble and the Rotax engine provides lots of torque. The signals really bugged me so I swapped the horn button with the signal cancel one. Now I can cancel the signal with my left hand and that’s much better!

    Great review. I just bought a 2017 F800GT down here in Sydney, Australia - and did a 300Km (185 mile) coastal and mountain ride on it last weekend. Awesome all-rounder and partner friendly! I previously had a Yammie MT09 and needed to tone things down a bit.... :)

    I bought a used 2012 as my commuter just love it! Great bags I wish they kept using. They are narrow for lane splitting but can expand to hold helmet and gear. Newer bikes have TFTs and there’s always someone faster but handling and the torque on this middle weight bike makes both road trips and riding in traffic a breeze!

    I've had numerous bikes over the years and have a 2018 Triumph Bonneville T120 currently...it's an excellent bike and I'm not selling it, but found an excellent condition 2009 F800ST locally that I'm considering for longer journeys. The Bonneville is awesome on back roads but I don't love it on the highway. Seems like everyone that posts videos that have these ST's really enjoy them and they seem reliable. Any advice or problems areas to watch out for? The one I'm looking at is a 2009, as I said, with 23k miles. Thanks

    I’ve heard the 800gt’s get a lot smoother after 8,000 miles. Grip puppies may also help with vibrations. I test road an older 800gt. I’d love to try the new one, as well as the 1250rs

    Thanks for this Video.
    I drive the same Model (also same colour, same cases) since 2013. It is a very reliable motorcycle.
    It only has 85 HP, but it is much lighter than a 1000cc or bigger bike.
    And the prarallel Twin has much Torque. So very competitive with bigger bikes.
    Good enough for 230 kmh (143 mph). I love it.
    Greetings from Germany.

      dietrich engel thanks for your comment. I failed to mention in the video the Scorpion exhaust did in fact bump up the horsepower. Not a lot, but definitely enough to notice a difference

      if you put it on a dyno you'll find it probably has more, they underestimated the BHP on this motor. K&N air filter does the job and smooths out the snatchy throttle at low speed too. Great bikes, aren't they! Likewise, blue is the future. ;)

    Thank you for this short and comprehensive review! Looking to add this bike to my stable as they have depreciated significantly, but as you say, you get a lot of engineering for your buck.

      I ve got the f800gs (my 1st proper bike) for 14,5 years now so It feels like I already own the ST.. Pretty satisfied from the GS, apart from an ECU failure which I sorted on 2020. If I aquire it I might make a comparison. 👍@@GreatMotorcycleRoads

    Beautiful bike, i'm on my second one. if you can, get the black engine not the grey one, grey ones get piston slap over 30k miles, but are still good to use, black engines have different pistons and no piston slap. Yep, change exhaust for a better sound, love the indicator set up, unlike many!! 64mpg (uk) however i ride it, carefully or enthusiastically... just did a 2.5k mile tour round Europe in 7 days and 8 countries on it, never missed a beat.

    Did you get your aftermarket exhaust online? I've been looking around for one but have found that the market seems to be kind of lacking in terms of slip on exhausts. I know arrow makes an exhaust and akrapovic did at one point but I can't find them.

    • @GreatMotorcycleRoads
      @GreatMotorcycleRoads  4 роки тому +1

      Got the Scorpion exhaust on eBay. Then put a Remus on this past year. Bought from F800 forum, there are occasional slip on exhausts for sale on those sites

    Are the years with black engine better than the grey. Related to clunky transmission and piston slap?
