The acting is so bad it's great. I had a box set with commentary, and they recreate some of the hauntings in the actual haunted houses. They said the had paranormal events happening to the crew.
Patty Stallings had a really good husband. When the cops and everyone said she had hurt the baby he wasn't having it at all! He stood by her through all of it.
I can't help wondering if she hadn't of been left alone with the baby and fed him a bottle, then when he had his next attack, would the police still have blamed her and stuck her in jail. Probably because this story I've heard several times and it's one where the police have tunnel vision. But I'm so glad she's been proven innocent and they got their son back.
@karen hall @Ashlee Larsen I understand you guys are blaming the cops, tunnel vision, etc, but I really dont fault them in this case. For those wondering what happened to Clifford Starks the cruel stepfather of Cathy Loving, I found a forum where a person said they asked Cathy the same thing and she told them that Starks was murdered around 1982 by a woman whose daughter he had also been molesting.
When Unsolved Mysteries debuted in early 1988, I was a sophomore in HS and got addicted to it right away! From there I made it a point to watch it weekly and am glad it stayed on the air for quite awhile! Rarely did I miss an episode and enjoy catching now the replays of updates from those old cases! that woman who moved in with Beverly, wanted her identity i knew this before i even saw the update she was probably selling the stolen identities if she wasn't planning on keeping beverlys identity for herself
After rechecking the British Airways Flight 292 passenger list, authorities discovered that "Alice" had used the name Sylvia Ann Hodgkinson to purchase her tickets. Through this name, authorities were able to identify her as a con artist named Elaine Parent. She had previously been acquainted with Hodgkinson and had stolen her identity. In May 1991, she was arrested while holding identification for both Hodgkinson and another woman. However, she was released without charge. Forensic evidence in Beverly's car and handwriting on a tablet in her condo was also linked to her. Over the years, she became known as the "Chameleon Killer" as she had stolen more than twenty identities. However, because of this, she was able to elude capture for over a decade. In April 2002, police finally caught up with Elaine with the help of an anonymous tip. At the time, she was living in an apartment in Panama City, Florida. After detectives arrived there, they allowed her to change clothes. During this time, however, she took her life with a .357 Magnum to the heart to avoid capture. Although Elaine's death might bring a sense of closure to Beverly's family, it left much of the secrets of her bizarre lifestyle and criminal career unanswered. Also, some suspect that she may be responsible for other murders that she has yet to be connected with. As for "Sam", he was never identified. However, some believe that he may have actually been Elaine.
There are SO many memorable cases in this episode . . . 1) The bomber case isn't one that I recall, but it's hard not to laugh a little at Pat Robertson's being portrayed as a victim. It's also fascinating to see this earlier incarnation of the controversial Osteen family. 2) The tragic case of Kathie Williams and her abominable stepfather, Clifford Starks. You can't feel angry enough for her. 3) The eerie, shocking death of Beverly Ann McGowan: I remember the man in drag and the mutilated condition of her body, as well as the importance of her tattoo being discovered.
The deputy that helped patty is what being a police officer is all about. That is a good man. With sal and sally, it is amazing how many women fall for and stay with piece of craps. Like its a magnet for women or something. I see all the time women saying how great their husband is and will never leave, then watch as he berates the crap out of her and abuses her emotionally while keeping her down. All the while women saying, no he is a great guy and I love him.
The murder of Beverly McGowan is one of the most gruesome ever profiled on UM, total overkill. Glad they caught "Alice", but I wonder what happened to the weirdo and his cheap Cleopatra wig.
Elaine Parent Was Identified As A Suspect In The Brutal Murder Of Beverly McGowan Unfortunately She Committed Suicide Before Authorities Could Question Her
Like the other person said, it's been speculated that the "man in the Cleopatra wig" was just Elaine Parent in another disguise. I tend to believe it because Elaine was clearly a chameleon and total psychopath.
Alice was supposed to be on loan to the United States from England working for IBM in South Florida. How did the cops know this if the notation in Beverly's condo only read "Alice Tuesday 6;30" no last name no phone number? Anyway, Alice shot herself in the heart.
The fact that the bomber targeted churches in general is very telling indeed. Also, Elaine Parent was a "chameleon serial killer", so there is no reason to want a motive. She took the coward's way out instead of having to face the living victims. She is a _Deadly Women_ episode segment that needs to happen, though.
It wasn't really churches though, it was 2 televangelists. It would be different if it was random churches. I think the person was probably jealous of them in some deep seated psychological way, and something either happened to him physically to stop him or he snapped out of whatever.
@@kaylapounds1359, or he was imprisoned for another crime. That is the more likely idea. The sad thing is that Olsteen's son has taking that church into a very dark direction, fully embracing both "Name it, claim it" theology and "God is just Love" mindset, both of which are demonic "doctrines".
Except the bomber didn't target churches. The bomber didn't even target the congregations themselves, they targeted two individual televangelists. Have you ever stopped and wondered why Pat Robertson's mail was even being inspected with a fucking x-ray machine to begin with? After all, most churches don't inspect their packages anywhere near as meticulously as his did and yet they've never received pipe bombs in the mail. So why was he being targeted? I'll give you a hint: he literally has an entire Wikipedia page devoted just to his controversies alone.
Hate after watching an episode of Unsolved Mysteries and to find out there isn't any updates. The fact that Salvador has gotten away with murder for over 30 years.
also the one where the victim teen girl getting victimized over and over since her stepdad was police officer that made me tear up pretty badly this proves some officers dont need too wear a badge.... such a damn shame bless her heart and soul
Cathy such a lovely name and what a beauty she is! I am praying for her too heal from her emotional distress from abuse its horrific how police can do such cruel things and get away with it!
I feel so bad for the Stallings, especially Patty; I'm not a mom but I can't imagine what it's like being gaslit for a death you couldn't control while your sons are still dying and suffering for the brief lives they get to have.
I wonder what ever happened to that woman’s step-father? He needed to be prosecuted for rape and fired from the police force. However, I doubt any of that happened. I’m so glad she was able to break free from that situation. Its great that officer believed her because most in the criminal justice system just assume you are guilty and don’t gaf. But that’s not always the case.
If someone proposed to me within a week of knowing me... I would seriously think that something is wrong.. because he doesn't know me from a hole in the ground.. she should of known better.
It's very likely that "Alice", The Chameleon Killer, was really a two person team: A female professional Con Artist, and a Serial Killer. Here's my theory: "Alice" would lure in the victims, and her partner (most likely a man, judging from the severity of the injuries) would finish the "job"--and act that they both enjoyed, and felt compelled to do. Two different signatures are present in the crime; it's more likely that a second person committed the murder than a small English woman mustering up the physical strength to to commit brutal murder not once, but over a dozen times. (Not sure how many murders have been linked to Alice, at this time) Not every case ended up in a murder. Serial Killers usually take a "cooling off" period. Instead of giving up her partner, "Alice" killed herself. Whether this was out of fear, or devotion to, her partner and their ghastly mission, we may never know. But, if this theory is true, there may still be a Serial Killer on the loose. Though, given the time elapsed, they could be deceased. I hope it'll be solved one day. Justice never sleeps. But for now, it's "Unsolved." Source: Entire lifetime of research and education on psychology, human behaviour, Serial Killers, and of course Mindhunter (book/Netflix show) What are your thoughts?
"However, authorities now believe he may be in Miami, Mexico, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico." Sounds like the authorities knew right where this fella was...sharp, very sharp.
@@clopez4280 They shoulda just said they thought he was in the tropics somewhere. No need to name specific places like they had a good idea where he was.
Poor Cathy. I'm so glad that her life improved and she was able to meet that dear deputy who saved her. I know that plenty of people dislike(d) the "lost loves" segments, but they were among my favorites and were the easiest to solve. Cathy's story, the Patty English story, the case of the two little girls in the cancer ward, the Tim Harrell story, and the girl who found her mother and her three sisters always stuck with me.
Beverly Mcowen story is one of my favourites unfortunately. I say that because its of course terrible and mind boggling because of the grotesque nature of the crime for nothing
I don’t like mentioning this but the paradox of Starks sending Cathy to reform school was he couldn’t TOUCH her there. Sure, Cathy didn’t deserve to be there but she was AWAY from him!
At the time of the bombings, investigators speculated that the cases might be linked to the murders of Judge Robert Smith Vance and civil-rights attorney Robert Robinson, who were both killed with similar bombs. Walter Moody was later arrested and convicted for the murders of Vance and Robinson. However, he has never been conclusively linked to the televangelist bombings. More recently, some have suggested that Olympic Park Bomber Eric Rudolph may have been responsible for the bombings. Interestingly, he matches the description of the bomber and lived in North Carolina around the time that the bombs were sent. The bombs he used in the 1996 attacks were similar in design to the televangelist bombs. Also, he was apparently against materialism and born-again Christians. However, he has never been officially connected to these bombings, either.
I as a Christian do not like the Osteens and their prosperity-gospel nonsense, and neither do I care for Pat Robertson, but attempting to kill any of them is wrong. God will hold them accountable, it’s not our job.
Amen. When we are wronged (in any way at all), it is *never* our place to take our own vengeance. Because unlike humans, the Almighty would never do so out of impure motives.
Seeing these episodes with stories of malicious prosecution and wrongful imprisonment has educated me a lot about our broken system. It’s astonishing to me that prosecutors do not investigate the person’s possible innocence, only try hard to build an airtight case against them. The case of the baby with MMA should have been immediately overturned upon the diagnosis of the second child. Insane.
Has anyone found whatever happened to Clifford Starks, AKA the cop who molested his stepdaughter? It would be very displeasing if he was let off. I've found an unverified claim that Starks was killed by the mother of another of his victims in 1981-1982, but I've yet to find anything else that corroborates that.

It was like watching that episode where the guy frauding the system lived at Trump Towers.
Yes. I find it hard to find any sympathy for people who use the excuse of being religous to condemn others.
Aww, Patty is actually kinda cute. I feel bad for her. Glad things worked out
The deputy that helped patty is what being a police officer is all about.
He was living off of her and her family so it's hard to leave him in that case.
The murder of Beverly McGowan is one of the most gruesome ever profiled on UM, total overkill. Glad they caught "Alice", but I wonder what happened to the weirdo and his cheap Cleopatra wig.
Elaine Parent Was Identified As A Suspect In The Brutal Murder Of Beverly McGowan Unfortunately She Committed Suicide Before Authorities Could Question Her
@@reneebrown1362 Yep, glad she was caught! But I wonder what happened to the weird guy with the wig, it's scary to think he was never identified.
Maybe the other weird individual was one of parent's accomplices
It's been speculated that "Sam" was actually Elaine Parent is a elaborate disguise. Both Alice & Same were listed as around the same height too.
Like the other person said, it's been speculated that the "man in the Cleopatra wig" was just Elaine Parent in another disguise. I tend to believe it because Elaine was clearly a chameleon and total psychopath.
That's a young Joel Osteen in that newspaper 😁
... who the prosperity preacher?
47:38 sound effect would scare the hell out of me. Had many sleepless nights growing up because of this show. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.
Word.
In this case, add the music that came with it. Sometimes the update music, but mainly for profiling fugitives with the blue background
man joel osteen's sister looks like him with a wig.
Jealous? His target was a bigot. Good riddance!
@@MyKali2009 and your mother will be next like the dirty cockroach she is 😘
Sal Guardado was so jealous. This man was crazy!
Police need to be held accountable for crimes, to a higher degree even than the citizens they're assigned to oversee
Hate after watching an episode of Unsolved Mysteries and to find out there isn't any updates. The fact that Salvador has gotten away with murder for over 30 years.
also the one where the victim teen girl getting victimized over and over since her stepdad was police officer that made me tear up pretty badly
this proves some officers dont need too wear a badge....
such a damn shame bless her heart and soul
Cathy such a lovely name and what a beauty she is! I am praying for her too heal from her emotional distress from abuse its horrific how police can do such cruel things and get away with it!

Sadly, DJ Stallings died in 2013 at the age of 23.
23??
@@animallover4955 Yes
At least he got a chance at life...it's so tragic what these rare illnesses will do to people. I hope a cure can be found soon.
David Sr died April 30th, 2019.
I feel so bad for the Stallings, especially Patty; I'm not a mom but I can't imagine what it's like being gaslit for a death you couldn't control while your sons are still dying and suffering for the brief lives they get to have.
Sally thought he was the catch of a lifetime because he had a job. Something tells me this guy wasn't the only piece of trash she brought home.
Pat Robertson, still crazy after all these years.
In a way I was kinda mad he got sent mail bombs. All it was going to do was make him a martyr

That doesn't mean she deserved what happened to her.
Katie dilemma was more painful, with all those useless police who neglect her sexual abuse to protect the monster.
Poor Beverly, so sad

After all these years I still haven't been able to help solve the mystery but I'm going to keep on trying
Never give up, Billy.
It's very likely that "Alice", The Chameleon Killer, was really a two person team: A female professional Con Artist, and a Serial Killer. Here's my theory:
"Alice" would lure in the victims, and her partner (most likely a man, judging from the severity of the injuries) would finish the "job"--and act that they both enjoyed, and felt compelled to do.
But for now, it's "Unsolved."

What are your thoughts?
"However, authorities now believe he may be in Miami, Mexico, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico." Sounds like the authorities knew right where this fella was...sharp, very sharp.
...yea I'm picturing in my head the geographical locations and thinking what the hell? Makes no sense.
@@clopez4280 They shoulda just said they thought he was in the tropics somewhere. No need to name specific places like they had a good idea where he was.
Blessings to Cathy..and her own Human Angel
Robert's voice really got your attention in this program.

He wasn't murdered and nothing happened to him because he was a cop, she was emancipated & the case was closed.
