It's a bike I've admired since its first iteration back in the 70's, a friend of mine had one and put slick tyres on it which he got from a TT rider pal. He took me as pillion on a twisty country road late at night and was clipping the verges on both sides of the road. Then when the new version came out I was enamoured again but reviews proved it to be a bit lacking. The RS SE addresses those issues and I made enquiries when they launched the anniversary edition. They were sold out before rubber ever hit showroom floors, even now to get one requires a pre-order for next year's batch. If I didn't have bikes which already cover this genre, I'd own one now. Great to see you're getting physically fit enough to be enjoying your bikes again.👍😀
Thanks my friend. The difference between my single, parallel twin and this four cylinder is immense . Three are classically styled but very different otherwise. The Kawasaki is very difficult to get here too, it would have been long gone if I waited to Spring.
I have appreciated your views/perspective about the Z900rs. I sold my 2021 model around a year & a half ago…I had purchased it new & sold it with about 11,000miles on it. I added the Oxford heated grips & a full Akrapovic exhaust system…can we say, “sound therapy” boys & girls? Absolutely LOVED the bike…owned one of the originals Z’s just after high school…needless to say, they have come a long way since then. Currently rotating between slightly modified 900GT & a Speedmaster-LOVE both of them as well❗️ I’m just around the corner of 67 years of age & motorbike’n is still my “Throttle Therapy/Decompression Session”😊 Best to you, Ben
Ben just came back off a three hour ride on my 900 GT. Thank goodness for the heated seat and grips it was down to freezing. I'll probably wait a bit longer before purchasing much of anything for the bike . I just learning about this Kawasaki, I did not have Z1 back in the day Thanks for viewing and commenting.
In my estimation, the Tiger 90OGT is pound for pound one of the best all-around bikes available for the money…you can take it to the corner store, or comfortably, clear across the country-the Swiss Army Knife of bikes👍 I too ride in the cold weather(Oregon)but attempt to stay away from the rain. May you have many more adventurous rides with your buddies🙏
@@benbianchi3074 Will do Ben. I'm certainly up for more adventures. I think the next wii be heading down to the Mecum Motorcycle Auction in Las Vegas in January.
That is a fine bike! Heated grips, next you'll be wanting ice in your water in the summertime!! LOL I once poured out a Dr Pepper while driving down a lonely highway, not realizing there were two motorcycles behind me. I felt bad that I soaked a Kawasaki 900, worse because it was two cops, and they were not happy
I've been on a motorcycle a couple of times when someone "accidentally" did that. Cops sometimes don't have my sense of humor, so I guess you were lucky.
Really nice looking bike the Z900. Not a bike I could afford when younger but would have loved to own one, and the colour on this one suits it well. Cheers
I think you would like the engine but I expect the lack of wind protection is a deterent for a lot of folks. I couldn't afford one in 1972. I have video where I test launching it in a week or so, kinda of amusing.
@@flatcapcaferacer no but am looking at them. I have a zx11 that is not so comfortable for me anymore and am considering a change..the look brings me back to great times
@@itacud2 A sold my 2013 Zx1400R in 2016....both yours and mine were powerful beasts. Your coming along at a good time since I'm still breaking this one in. In a day or so I'll be releasing a video testing wind screen height, but I'm not sure I want or need one. I'd appreciate your comments on that video too. I'm brand new to this motor but I'm really liking it so far.
I agree with everything mr Bill said. Kawasaki have done a great job with the bike. It does sound very be quiet so an exhaust would be nice. Heated grips are always our first modification
Heated hand grips is one those things like ABS that should be standard. The bike has a very nice sound when acceleratiing even moderately but pretty quiet otherwise.
I started on Kawasaki back in 1969 with three two stroke bikes and kept one for 44 years before selling it. My last Kawasaki before this one was a 2013 Zx1400R which I used for land speed racing in 2016. We got up to 196 mph but could not get to 200 mph . I sold the Zx1400R because I was afraid I would do something stupid on the street if I kept it.
"There goes Mr. Bill" 🤣😂🤣 I am really liking that new bike. Looks great and seems like you are enjoying it a lot. Comments from Mr. Bill were excellent.
I’m picking up my Z900RS next week. I wanted the SE model but the “plain” model was the one I could get my hands on. Since I saved 2K on the lesser model I am having the dealer take off the Dunlops right away and put on the Michelin Road 6 tires. The black bike goes better with my Helmets and gear anyway so I guess it all worked out the way it was supposed to. I don’t think I will ever miss the Olin’s shock or Brembo front brakes anyway. Really looking for windscreen recommendations for the bike…
Congratulations, I think you will be very pleased with your choice. I'm still wrestling with a windscreen choice or stay without it I'm out riding right now
Yay, a good looking bike! Retro design, four cylinder, analog gauges and Japanese made. Four into four would look even better but it would be a tough choice between that or a center stand.
Changing the Dunlop’s for Michelin transformed the bike for me. I’m not sure if the centre stand would interfere with lean angle. I used to catch the pegs quite often and even dug the side stand mount into the road a couple of times. That was on the standard setup so probably a little soft for spirited riding. Take care over there my friend 👍🏼
Have a look at the new Oxford heated grips they don't have the awful controller. I may add one to the Z1000SX although to be fair heated gloves are much better. Love the look of that bike, but it's a bit of an animal. I had a ride on the non-classic version, it'll come out Wednesday
I'll do that but do you remember the model of the Oxford grips you were talking about? They have so many versions it can be confusing. Nah this is a pussycat compared to my Thruxton. Although when I get it broken in I might take to the drag strip just for comparison purposes. I'm very reluctant to turn my traction control off on the Thruxton and grab a handful of throttle at 20 mph.
You need heated grips. I was looking at the weather around your area the other day. I was figuring out when the riding season is. Of course its the time that plane tickets are more expensive.

With regard to the 4 into 4. It does make the bike look closer to original but consider most bikes back then went to a 4 into 1 after about a month
