I think Gelo is realistically on a similar level. Might not have made it without Melo, but he probably will and will probably do alright in a limited role.
He’s probably been training with some of the best trainers which has probably helped a lot during the off-season, it also helps that he is rich which means he’ll have access to better resources than other players in his skill level

His shooting percentage is terrible despite hitting over 40% of his 3's but in the summer league 50% on 2's and 3's is where he needs to be to get an offer above the G league. Guys like Braxton Keys putting up better numbers but still will have to show out in the G to get a chance at the NBA

The teams actually run set plays for them to come off of screens and get open for a shot. Those teams are not a bunch of thirsty players trying to score by any means necessary and only passing when they need to get bailed out. This is the scenario with Gelo, The coach is not drawing up plays for him to move off of screens, he literally has to get the ball when the ball handler is passing to him to get bailed out.
