Baizhu's theme has been the most calmest I've heard in a while. There's something so gentle yet peaceful about his theme, yet uplifting at the same time. He is truly the embodiment of calm, peace and tranquility as a pharmacist and a doctor.

With Kaveh and Baizhu’s demos, the format seems to be leaning into building more aesthetic as opposed to hype. Honestly, I’m in favor of this approach.
I think it started with Yelan, that demos became more stylised toward charcters. Starting from her jazzy casino theme the music aspect of these really started to bop.
Probably started further back with Yun Jin, focusing more on the characters themselves rather than what abilities they have.

It mostly depends on the characters I would say.
Some characters are just not the embodiment of "hype". Not everyone is a crazy God of Thunder and Eternity with a sick design and sword who's one of the best warriors in the entire world like Raiden Shogun lol

TLDR about their relationships, based on the lore so far
Hutao hates Baizhu for researching immortality; they have opposing principles about this. Hutao considers death as a natural occurrence that doesn't need to be feared, and Baizhu's afraid of his mortality as it seems so far.
Baizhu hates Hutao for... frequently kidnapping Qiqi, her precious research subject.
Qiqi hates Hutao for condemning her immortality. She wants to live the most.
Qiqi dislikes Baizhu for using her as a research subject. But Qiqi keeps quiet about this, as she prefers a rather malicious company better than to be alone again (she died in the wilderness)
@HH qiqi does not hate baizhu. she is aware that he has ulterior motives in keeping her by his side, but does not concern herself with them at all and is okay with it. read up on her voicelines and story. baizhu also does not experiment on qiqi at ALL. that is not mentioned anywhere. he simply observes her sometimes, even tho he has most likely given up because she was turned into a zombie, and she's technically not really alive or the pinnacle of health.
This part of 1:43 is 'Remember, Health comes first' in the English version, but 'Know the weight of life' in the Japanese version. Both are very good.

Fun fact in china fireflies were symbolic of love/romance. They also have this interesting belief of burning grass becoming fireflies. I do agree there was lots of subtle symbolisms many miss. Only made clearer when you know the Legend of the White Snake, one of 4 love stories that are national historical treasures....and only one of the 4 with a happy ending. 😊

Since Baizhu knows Liyue/china's ancient art of medicine you can see he's actually knocking them out via pressure points/acupuncture. It's pretty cool. And yeah the hoarders really are stupid as useful, now Baizhu gets their dropped mats. XD

I really love his theme. Cool and calm like the gentle sound of rain falling on the leaves of a tree. It has an air of peace but also hides a dark side. I can’t wait til his theme song comes on the soundtrack.

He's reminding me of yae miko! The way his demo has so many closeups, just like hers, bc hoyo knows that Baizhu and yae main appeal is their design and how beautiful they are. And at the end, he has the same ominous scream and implied "torture"??? As hers. But I have to admit, the conviction in his voice when he says my mortality is none of your concern... Oof that was really great. Kind of like how ppl tend to either baby or trivialize chronically ill ppl. His character feels compelling.

I needed to take a moment from just one second of the musical theme; the stringed instrument that is most likely playing is the guqin, one of the prominent stringed instruments from China that can be associated with elegant, high class caricatures and scholarly individuals. This instrument is absolutely perfect for Baizhu and I cannot imagine an instrument within the Asian stringed family for him other than this. What a slay, Baizhu 🐍 and good luck for anyone who is pulling him!

Snakes are the symbol of modern medicine (ex caduceus). The snake's name Changsheng also roughly translates to longevity. "Beyond mortality" implies he is seeking eternal life. Snakes in Asian mythology in general are semi-divine creatures that can shape shift (ex Nagas and Legend of the White Snake).
also baizhu had vishap/snake eyes while changsheng has normal human eyes

I love that he cares, and will do anything to treat others, but his sass and steely edge make me appreciate him so much. I think I've found my spirit animal in Baizhu. ❤
i love baizhu's unique attack animations! he's weaker than other characters in lore, so its so cool that he immobilizes his enemies through attacking their weak points, rather than through brute strength!
ANYWAYS!!!! all this to say that baizhu is the moment, hes a shining star.
Finally, someone who knows the lore. So I assume you know what happened to him before he was a doctor?

yeah, mostly! i believe the lore is that he made a contract of some sort with changsheng (?) that lets him heal people (?), and his ailment was passed down to him from the last person who had made that contract (his master). and thus, he seeks immorality to prevent others from having to make that same contract once he passes on. i could be remembering/interpreting something wrong though!

Baizhu impresses me because his doctor's phrases with double meanings are scary.... apart from that he is a healer with health problems and that worries him.....but on the other hand he is a good dad..Qiqi his daughter helps him in everything✨✨🤝
