I love how these guys manage to walk the fine line between gothic and cheesy.
They are the line.
This is extremely cheesy, but it's a fine, well-crafted cheese that can be paired with a nice merlot (or alter wine).
This is part of the essence of power metal, especially in MVs. You do something over the top or downright ridiculous but play it completely straight.
I'd normally agree with you, but not on this song. The lyrics are quite...uhm...brutal.

A new era has begun for Powerwolf. Their comeback has brought us a band that's stronger than ever. They're going big. Definitely a well balanced sound and an impressive look. Much less fairytale-y and much more focused on enhancing the quality of the final product. I Iove it. We love it. The true character of this band is depicted to perfection. Whoever was in charge of Powerwolf's rebranding did a terrific job.
They'll always comeback. They are undead/cursed after all.

When you don't understand German and yet the song is still good. You know it's a talented band.
And the lyrics are about an extremely dark topic. Basically, about the rampant (and covered by the church leaders) sexual abuse in the catholic church.

@@konstantinos7354 sabaton, alestorm, windrose I'm familiar with. All because of Napalm. I have not gone to concerts in a long time. So I watch videos on UA-cam. Eventually found one video I liked so I sub and then just see new stuff. I am from the older metal generation. I was always listening to that.
Powerwolf should make more songs in German. Kreuzfeur, Stossgebet and Glaubenskraft were the best songs from the albums.

Else Powerwolf often jokes about different things in religion (especially in the catholic church). Resurrection By Erection or Coleus Sanctus are good examples for this.

I remember seeing these guys at the Graspop Metal Meeting 2012 at midday.
The place was more or less empty when they started and filled quite alot during and after their concert. It was wonderful.

As someone who is more into symphonic and progressive metal, I was really impressed with this song, especially with Attila's vocals. I believe that he must have had some classical or theater training, simply because of his annunciation and how he is able to project his vocals. With his voice, I believe that Attila would fit in quite nicely doing a Wagnerian Opera
He's a classically trained Opera singer! He was studying opera in Romania when he first met Matthew and Charles
