Ambush's never include reinforcements, always just the ambushing army vs the stack they ambush. I thought that was his plan, to crush one of his stacks in a 1v1 using his donkey smarts, leaving the Takeda with only one stack vs his fresh stack and the victors of the ambush, definitely an advantageous position. Instead looks like I get to watch a big battle, in which donkey has no ranged at all and the opponent got the good terrain. This ought to be good.
Trying Legendary and had the weirdest thing happen. I had Kaga and Etchu and Takeda sent two large armies in between them. And they just sat there for three turns doing nothing as they waited for a third army. This allowed me to take Sado. Takeda then took both provinces and waited again. This gave me enough time to take Echigo before they attacked Echizen, which kept me from being bankrupted. The best was yet to come though. Takeda Shingen attacked ALONE and was destroyed. Then it sent its second army the next turn, which was destroyed. And then the third in the next turn. I had built up my castle at Echigo (upgraded it to Fortress prior to their attack). I usually just put all my troops in the main keep and let them come to me. I've defeated two full armies at once before doing this. Having the temple allowed me to have some free monks and five free troops each attack. It was around ten turns before Takeda Shingen attacked Echizen.
Depends on the era and the location. Medieval and Renaissance Europe? Yes. Ancient Rome and Ancient China? No, those were even LARGER, if you can believe it. At the Battle of Cannae alone (the worst defeat in the entire history of the Ancient Romans) they lost over 60,000 men and had another 10,000 or so captured. Chinese armies of 100,000+ each regularly clashed with one-another during the Warring States period. So yeah in comparison to those contests this was a mere skirmish
Hey MSD, as a next step, you should tke out the Date, Takeda, Hojo and other clans to ocuppy the East of Honshu and establish a foothold! Let me know what you can do whwn you record a new episode!
I record quite far ahead, so this Let's Play is already nearly done, lucky for you, what you said is basically my plan anyway, although I think I may have mentioned that once or twice in these episodes anyway.
***** What campaign are you going to do next then? I really want the Hojo. Because I've seen the lets fu*k about about shogun and seen the fire rockets, lol.
It's probably going to be either the Hojo or the Chosokabe. I had already started recording the Chosokabe a while back, so I might continue that, otherwise it might be the Hojo. You'll probably see what it will be in the next week or so.
Did I say I’m not into large battles? Seems odd, but this playthrough is very old, so maybe I wasn’t back then. Either way it would be because otherwise the A.I. controls it and that would be disastrous.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP you said something about hating when there are too many units on the bottom bar. But ok, I thought it worked like in Rome II, if it just means AI control your reinforcments, makes sense
Man why don't you create GROUPS? Select the units that are already deployed and press G! Só you will know which army is the first and wich is the second one (reinforcement) (14'30'')
That was one big battle, over 10 000 dead combined!
no it was 8k but still holy shit.
It was over 10k, 5627 + 4854 = 10,481.
***** i see i watch in 360p so i guess i read 5 as 3.
32:52 that "Ooooooooh" was EPIC!
26:17 - That body count....I wonder how your pc is handling this :P
32:50 - Never mind , this is even more hilarious :D

The amount of overthinking and under-thinking you do in a single episode is quite funny.
That was a very tough battle to control, specially with legendary
That was a LOT of dead men. I mean, shit. That was bad.
Oh, and congrats on your marriage.
"I don't see how anything could go wrong here... Something went wrong."
Это лучшая битва, кооорая с Такедой, которую я когда- либо видел за 10 лет игры) ты нереально крут)
6:20 LOL that boat
Takeda really amazed me with that offer! Great battle is coming!

Man, you didn't see the river behind your army? You were close to the water in that battle!
That was an epic battle, wow.
ima just say this, holy shit that was alot of bodies after the fight, and it was a hard-earned victory even if there werent many tactics invloved
26:00 so many bodies even my internet was lagging
that battle is what real battlefields look like right?

It seems when I am the abmusher I am at a disadvantage.

***** will you do Uesugi any time?
I have never seen the Date get this strong. Shame seeing as they're my favourite clan.
wat. why the fuck does your son look so good, when he grew up in my campaign he was fat and had a funny hat :(
why check the "control large army" box if you're not into large battles?

@@MrSmartDonkeyLP also, nice that you're still answering questions on 8 year old playthrough
The screen got cut off towards the end
At what point? Seems fine to me.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP I think it was just me it got off centered but fixed itself. Probably me.
Why did you use a general with only two units? No smart donkey that’s a Bad smart donkey,
FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!

I'm well aware how to use groups, I purposefully don't use them.
Fun
