Enrico Caruso, épuisé par la maladie et sentant la mort arriver, demanda à son épouse de l'accompagner sur la terrasse de sa chambre d'hôtel. Appuyé à la balustrade, dominant toute la baie de Naples, sa ville natale, on raconte qu'il chanta, soutenu par ses proches jusqu'à son dernier souffle de vie.
