@@ChiefSweetsUniverse this is one of the first times i've ever seen you recommend eco earth haha. but it doesn't get moldy easily for me as long as you have a couple spring tails and/or isopods. i have a really big springtail and isopod population in my crested gecko tanks. (also add the isopods roughly 20 minutes before you add any crested gecko or bearded dragon so they can hide and not get eaten)
Looking for some tips. About to start a custom build for my ball python with foam board, great stuff, grout, silicone, and I’m needing a waterproofing sealant since it’s higher humidity. I’ve looked everywhere I can’t find any brands for the sealant.
This is a great idea for us "non artistic" enclosure builders. Lol. Don't get me wrong, I still try and do the long way and carve and such, but I think I will try this on my next one. Also, the sphagnum moss from Lowes is called "better grow" if I remember correctly. It is exactly the same as reptile sphagnum moss and so much more economical to buy. I've been using it for years.
Yes! I never look at the package I just buy so I was like I have no idea what it’s called 😂 yeah I figure for people who don’t want to carve foam all day and paint this super simple slap on method would be great.
Woah all week I've been looking through your leopard gecko advice and everything since I'm getting one soon and i only just realized this is a brand new upload and not an older (but still very useful) video haha
thanks for the tutorial, i used this to make a new crested gecko background and i intergrated a cork bark looking tube for some extra shelter! i also added a slate platform that drips water and the slate already had moss on it. thanks for making this tutorial!
(also i recomend adding some moderately sized but strong branches for some arboreal reptile tanks) you can also add small planter pots and cover the pot with foam and eco earth so you can add some small plants (although it only looks good if your able to hide the bump it creates)
Thanks for the video. I'm debating whether it's worth doing it for a giant dart frog build as the centerpiece of my room instead of carving XPS foam or something. But worried about the background being difficult to dry out after a misting, as well as spending a bunch of time for it to then just look like poop. But at the same time, I suck at carving XPS and don't like the fake look Drylock makes. I could selectively cover parts in the dirt. Maybe I should just try this out in a cheap growout enclosure first or something.
I love that background!! Very nice in my opinion. I think I could do something like that. I am still researching everything I can about Breaded dragons. I have decided that I would like to get one.
love the video && nice champion shirt looks good on you. also quick question, does it matter where you buy hides for the leopard gecko??? like petsmart or any other reptile stores etc????? or does it have to be from a specific website/store to buy hides????
Dude, I love your videos. I have some stuff for a bearded dragon and want to do something like this. My kids want one, I want one more but can't tell my wife that lol. Have a good one bro!
So let’s say I do this idea and on a part of the background I have a hole with no foam but a piece of egg crate, sort of in the shape of a cave and I stuff the holes of the crate with moss. When I water the moss over time will it damage the coconut fiber and make it start looking bad?
Maybe over long period of time like two years. But if you use the black great stuff it’s hard to tell anyway. I water my background and it’s still has coco fiber on it
This is brilliant! I adore your channel! These are awesome ideas, and very creative! Give yourself more credit, cuz it's really awesome. I don't think it looks like 💩 This is some great stuff! (Pun intended 😉😁)
Hey chief I was wondering if u had any tips introducing a bearded dragon to a dog because I don’t really know how to do that. Also I love your videos and u have helped me care for my bearded dragon
I would be careful introducing them to dogs and cats as they are predators for lizards and often maim or kill beardies. But if you just want to make sure nothing happens I would first show the dog the dragon through the glass. Then hold it and make sure the dog isn’t interested. So that way he isn’t wanting to eat it.
W chief . Also for a 6x2x2 bearded dragon enclosure should the Arcadia uvb be 12 or 14 percent ? (ALSO IN BEGGING FOR A 6x2x2 bearded dragon enclosure video)
Depends on the screen mesh. If it’s pretty think screen I’d mount a 12% inside if it’s not so thick I’d go with a 14% on top and just make sure my basking spot isn’t 6inches close to the screen. On screen 9 inches -15 inches is the sweet spot

What watt heat bulb should I do for a 20 gallon long

@@ChiefSweetsUniverse ok thanks for the tip!
I think you have to hold the can upside down and need more than 1 can for volume so it doesn't look like poop
Can you do a video for a ball python enclosure? I’m following your advice because I love how great it looks, the safety and how you save money!
I have one video of a ball python setup but I will definitely have many more soon to come
Can I use the spray foam inside? I have a 120 gallon enclosure, so it would NOT be fun to tote it downstairs and outside.
Will try this one my enclosure arrives
It’s pretty fun!
Will this method (with or without silicone) work just as good on a pvc enclosure? Or will it not stick to it as good as the glass
It should stick better to pvc. With or without silicone.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thanks man

Do i have to cover the foam with Silicone if i want Vampirecrabs?
This foam pond and stone is water proof.
Where did you get your tank
Petsmart
I purchased the Loctite Waterproof Silicone sealant for aquariums. Is that one safe 😅? I wish I had watched this video first.
I wanna do this for my beardie!! Do you think it would hold up well in a higher humidity enclosure like for my ball python too?
Oh yeah it’ll hold well in both.
How much greatstuff did you use?
Two bottles
Last time i tried this the coco fiber wouldnt stick do you know why. It also was super hot when i applied the foam so that might be why
Two things will do that. The coco fiber is wet or the great stuff had cured fast because of the heat.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse ok thanks. It must have been the heat because my coco fiber was dry
Could i do the background on a Styrofoam board instead of the actual glass?
100%
It's expanding foam... Don't lay it down so tightly and it will expand.
I have a question about bearded dragons. You can answer it I hope
Yes what’s up? You can join the discord as well to ask
For the Eco block, you can just throw it in the water and then break it apart
But you want to do it dry so it sticks better. I didn’t want to wait for it to dry out haha. Too impatient
And to think, i spent 3 days slathering black silicon all over the place when i could of just skipped that entire step.
Haha happy to help for the next video
You should work at petsmart
Haha maybe they will hire me as a consultant
