Thank you for your video, how about a video of how you store your ties until they sell. I saw one of your video of how you wrinkle out ties. how do you store them without getting dirty and wrinkle?
This video, and your recent January sold ties video, have restored my faith in ties. I thought the pandemic and mens wear trends were moving away from neck ties and have left a few in my deathpile from my early picking days. Now I'm excited to list em! Thank you!
There's no exact way to do it. Sometimes the look and the style scream out a particular decade. Many times the labels provide the most clues. With large, older brands you can often tell by the label, RN numbers were not issued until 1952, lack of care instructions, branded material names like "dacron" can all help determine whether they are vintage
Great info. You mentioned in past videos that you sometimes source ties in bulk. Wondering where you get them, and are you donating the low dollar ones?
Bulk ties can be sourced online, in facebook groups for reseller inventory, on the same platforms we sell them on (ebay, mercari, etc) and sometimes you can work deals with small thrift stores. For the low dollar and unsellable ones I usually put in a box of 50 and sell it as a craft lot.
I love your video on Repp ties but I do have a question. I have a Countess Mara tie that has blue stripes. One light colored stripe and a black stripe has texture to it but the other blue stripes are smooth and silky. Would this still be considered a repp tie. I sold another brand of a repp tie but all of it was textured so I could clearly figure out that it was a repp tie. Thank you. Keep the tie videos coming. I love them.
In that situation I like to mention that the tie has some repp silk so that I still get the repp keyword to work for me. I think it’s a fair debate either way on whether to call it a repp tie.
Now I have firmly in my mind what a Repp tie is, thanks to you. I went out thrifting and found a Robert Talbott Nordstrom Extra long repp tie but am not sure if it is a good one or not. It is quite attractive looking and pristine. Help?? Thanks.
Sounds like a great pickup to me. My rule for Robert Talbott is to not buy solely based on brand, but have at least one other compelling reason for the tie. You’ve got two: 1) Repp ties are desirable 2) extra long ties sell well
Welcome! You are in the right place for tie info! I don’t have experience with smoke remediation but have had good luck removing old musty smell. I’ll put ties in a black trash bag with damprid and leave the bag sealed a couple weeks. It draws out excess moisture. For smoke, I’ve always heard an ozone machine in the way to go.
I have seen polyester ties with ribbed fabric. Are they repp ties? Sort of. Repp ties are made of repp silk. Polyester is a synthetic alternative to silk. I think it’d be ok to point out the tie fits the look of the repp style, just be upfront about the material.
Thank you for the info on the repp tie. I went through some of my stock and have found some striped silk ties that are ribbed woven like you explained, except the ribs run straight across the tie or horizontal, are those considered repp as well? I've noticed all repp ties I have searched online have diagonal ribbing.
Diagonal is the most common but you’ll find the others as well. The one I’m wearing in the video is actually vertical. I would say diagonal is the most classic but the others are still repp ties.
Hermes, Ferragamo, Limbaugh, Vittalino, Brutini (~$50-200) and popping bright colors.
Some novelty: Garcia, Beatles, Marlin can do well ~$20-50
Great info. Very direct and to the point. The tie you are wearing is awesome!
Thanks so much for watching! That tie sold very quickly 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for making tie selling easy to understand and especially what a repp tie is. Now i know what to look for😃

This is very helpful. Thanks.
Thank you for narrowing down this niche for me! I've dabbled in ties but I will ramp it up now!

Thanks for watching!
How can you look up a tie to know if it's vintage or not? Great videos, I appreciate all your information.

Do you have a video on how to take tie pictures
I show my photo set up, rolling technique and standard pics in this video: How to List a Tie on Ebay

Good video. How do you typically ship a single necktie? Flat bubble mailer, poly mailer, small box?? Thanks!
I use a 6x9 bubble mailer. Don’t really need the padding, but the buyers seem to like it and they are nice to have on hand for video games and smalls.
❤❤❤
I am trying to get into reselling ties. Are you familiar with getting rid of smoke smells on ties, and if so how? Thanks!
