  • I’ll be honest I never thought I’d catch fish like this! In this video I head down to Georgia with Shan O’ Gorman (Aquatic Biologist) to hook up with Garret Stamport (Pristine Pond Management) and jump on a shock boat to help manage some private ponds! This was an absolute insane on the water experience!

    Great video, I fish a small public lake that was drained and refilled, it’s 3 years in and the bass seem stunted to me, there’s huge bluegill but they aren’t getting eaten by a 12” bass. Probably similar situation to what you showed in this video.

    In the second pond we had very low catch rates so I suspected we had a few big bass. We harvested the bigger bass and put back the smaller ones. The larger bass will eat the larger bluegill so they were removed. Sometimes a few big bass in a small pond are really hard to catch.

    You can see Shan's giant bass science experiment pond from the interstate, and I dream of fishing there. It's crazy to think those bass are only 2 years old. A few more years and there could be multiple double digit monsters in there 🤯

    I caught a bass then hooked a musky with the bass. Had him on for maybe a minute then I had just the bass on.
    I let it go alive with tooth marks

    Back in the day, my dad worked for TWRA and I was able to go out with him a few times when they shocked fish for tagging. It was fun watching this.

    Instead of killing why not restock in big lakes ?

      transferring bass from one body of water to another can transport diseases and parasites that can wipe out a whole population of bass. You can also transport invasive species into the new body of water as well. Moving fish is never a good idea 😁👊🏻

    Very cool research work and video. I had the opportunity in the 90s up in trophy deer Illinois 🦌 🤣 to be a part of this. We worked 2 nights with the Cook County Forest Preserve fisheries guys and it was exciting. Their budget allowed for the oversized jon boat for electro shocking but fun getting my hands wet. Didn't realize one of the lakes had northern pike over 30 inches and near trophy walleye. Very cool seeing your take on this

    Very educational video. And You did an amazing job explaining why some of the large bass were removed from the pond. If its not what the land owner wants then its his choice. I know as a pond owner you cant have everything, Sometimes you have to choose your fishery and provide for what you want.

      Great question. You never relocate bass (or any fish) from one body of water to another. It’s the number one spreader of diseases, parasites, and invasive species.

      Because that will completely disrupt the balance of,the pond or lake we put those bass in. We have no right to wreck the other system. Any non biologist moving fish around is doing way more harm than good to our fisheries and should be arrested

    Relocate them bass. Takes a long time to get them that big.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  5 місяців тому +2

      You *never* relocate bass (or any fish) from one body of water to another. It’s the number one spreader of diseases, parasites, and invasive species. There have been whole lakes decimated by LMBV and invasive species because of relocation of fish.

    • @Noneya-z8j

      NEVER DO THAT

    • @aquaticbiologist6516
      @aquaticbiologist6516 5 місяців тому

      It’s a bad idea to relocate any fish. It disrupts the balance of the other fishery you stock and spreads parasites and disease. most of the problems public lakes have are due to,the public relocating fish. Did you see the interview with Drew Gregory and Alabama bass? Those fisheries are ruined because someone decided to relocate those bass.

      It’s like a taser the cops use except for fish. It’s harmful for,us because we are not covered in scales. Scales are like armor that protects the fish. My old shock boat I kept compressed oxygen aeration they can back around juiced up on oxygen and often went if and feed immediately
